  1. Pilot Somes 5 Pen Box I came across Pilot Somes leather pen cases from a review on You Tube. I since saw a written review on the fountain pen forums. Apparently Somes is a saddle- making company based in Hokkaido, Northern Japan. From what I understand of Hokkaido the population is small and there is an amazing amount of flaura and fauna, as well as many wild horses. I would love to visit Hokkaido. Somes teamed- up with Pilot to make a range of leather pen cases from 1,2,3 pen fold- over cases, to a 3-pen mini- folio- type case, and their most impressive item…the 5 pen box below. The box is actually very light- even filled with your most executive- level pens. The detailing is immaculate, and the lid isn’t very tight on the base- which makes it easy to retrieve your pens one- handed with minimum fuss. Very handy when you have papers and un- capped ink bottles all around. They think of everything in Japan. The item is immaculately packaged and presented in a heavy black cardboard box with gold lettering. Very executive- level pen collector. The box is lined with a soft suede lining and comprises of three separate leather open boxes. One box acts as the lid- the other two form a second chamber underneath the main pen dividers. Useful for storing ink cartridges...or even more pens! Here is is housing my Nagasawa palm rest/ pen rest. Close- up of the soft sueded interior... Pilot Somes 3-pen case Here is the Pilot Somes 3-pen case I ordered with it. Again, amazingly well- made and like no other pen case I have come across. Really premium product. Sitting in the 5-pen box ante-chamber with Brown bear from LINE, Pilot VP and Lamy 2000... Thanks for reading!
  2. This is a first of four reviews of different Rakuten stores. Like they say: Weak Yen; Strong Dollar means shopping is entertainment! I placed an order for several Pilot Somes Cases (pictured below) at pricing that was almost 40% less than eBay sellers. I love these pen cases. The leather is exquisite and the finishing is professional. Even the zip around case can hold three King of Pens and a Midori Passport sized notebook The order was confirmed by email and then I reconfirmed the shipping charges, which were reasonable considering the package got to the US in a couple of days! Here are the items I purchased and the store links: http://item.rakuten.co.jp/komamono-honpo/sls3-01-b/ http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/komamono-honpo/cabinet/34/slpc-01-bn.jpg http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/komamono-honpo/cabinet/38/sls3-01-b.jpg http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/komamono-honpo/cabinet/38/sls3-01-b-02.jpg http://www.pen-house.net/contents/html/images/pilot/somes/sls3_01_bn/top.jpg
