    Philadelphia Pen Circle

THE PHILLY PEN CIRCLE A NEW, lightly-organized club for people who like people who like pens, paper, ink, pencils, planners, journals and other actual objects. The PPC will meet monthly, in clean, well-lit spaces, close to transit. Address: PARIS BAGUETTE - 3816 Chestnut St, Philadelphia PA, 19104. Everyone is welcome!
  2. For anyone interested in the Roanoke Pen Club, we are holding our next meeting on Saturday, February 11 at Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke, VA. on the second floor of the mall at noon. There are chairs and tables on the second floor if you want to bring your lunch to the meeting. That is where we'll spread out our pens and inks and hold our meeting. Chad Trent will be demonstrating how to replace a sac in a pen, so this will be good information for anyone wanting to get that vintage pen up and writing. For your GPS: 4420-A Electric Rd Roanoke, VA 24018 Hope we will have a good turnout, we usually have a lot of vintage and modern fountain pens, discussions of pens and pen repair, and a lot of pens inked up to try out. Needless to say, the inked pens will have many different inks for you to try out. These meetings are very informal, just for pen lovers to interface and share information. Here is a web site for the club: http://cosmoglasswor...anoke-pen-club/ You can sign up for club emails and can contact Chad Trent from that site for further information. The Roanoke Pen Club has a Google Group which you can join: https://groups.googl...oanoke-pen-club Or, you can PM me and I'll get back to you quickly. Hope to see you on February 11, 2017. If it looks like the weather will be nasty we will postpone until another date, and I'll update this posting, so you might want to follow it. Tom Johnson PS There are many places to eat around Tanglewood Mall, including an Applebee's at the mall entrance as well as a number of restaurants up and down Electric Road; Rancho Viejo, a nice Mexican restaurant. A great upscale international restaurant is Montano's, very close to the mall. They open at 10:00 AM, I'll be at Montano's about 10:30 for lunch. http://www.montanos.net/

Dear FPNers, For a while, we have wanted to meet with fellow pen enthusiasts here, in the Netherlands. With lockdown restrictions now relaxed and with the summer opening up, it seems the right moment to get started. To this end, we are organizing the Netherlands Pen Club – and we invite you to join us! We thought about this idea for a while, also trying to learn from valiant earlier efforts in this sense that we saw discussed on FPN, and envisioned a long-term pen club. We want to meet, discuss, and share ideas about fountain pens and share the fountain pens themselves, sometimes in real life and sometimes digitally. Later, we want to engage the entire ecosystem around fountain pens in the Netherlands, including sellers, tuners, artists, etc. We want to also make contact with other pen clubs and people abroad for cross-fertilization. We aim to make it easy to do all these things, but this being the beginning it would be great if you could also share your ideas about what the Netherlands Pen Club can do for you and with your help. Concretely, we have two activities to offer: 1/ We are organizing a first meeting in the real world, in Utrecht, on Monday, June 6 (2e Pinksterdag), from 13:30-17:30. As an exciting first meetup, there will be at least 20 pens to try out and we invite everyone to share theirs. We have reserved time for conversation and community build-up. We have a format for all this, so it will be easy and not at all overwhelming. Everyone’s welcome! (Exact location TBD) Please let us know until Wednesday, May 25, if you will attend our first meetup – then, we can arrange a suitably sized place – and if you have any dietary restrictions – then, we can arrange snacks and beverages. Please also let us know if you need any other kind of assistance. (We will of course keep these details private.) PM us or reply here and we will contact you immediately about details. 2/ We have organized an online presence, on Discord, which allows meeting each other live and also to organize live events with higher frequency but without traveling hassles – PM us to get an invitation and join this platform. TL;DR: Fellow pen enthusiasts in the Netherlands, we are looking forward to meeting with you! PM us to get in touch. Signed, @DvdRiet, @Nikolaos, and @OldTravelingShoe
  4. Hi everyone! I know this question has been asked a long while ago (2006 and 2008) , but I have no idea if things have changes since. Does anyone know if there is a pen club in Montreal or anywhere in the province of Quebec ? I'd be interested in joining such club. Thanks H-G
  5. The next meeting of the London (UK) Fountain Pen club is this coming Saturday (the 1st) at the Bierschenke near Liverpool St Station. Roughly 12:00-15:00 (downstairs).
  6. The Montreal Pen Club finally has a website : http://www.mtlpen.club As always, there is the Slack group, but we now also have a low volume newsletter for future meetings and various announcements.
  7. A small group of us have recently set up a pen club in the south of England for those not able/willing to make it in to London for the one there. It meets on the 3rd Saturday each month and presently is alternating between Fleet and Petersfield (though if numbers at Petersfield stay minimal we may make it just Fleet or look for another alternate). Details can be found on FaceBook - the group is "UK South Fountain Pen Club Meet Up" with https://www.facebook.com/groups/uksouthfountainpens/ being the URL. Note it is a closed group so you need to search for it then apply for access (else anyone can see and post and potentially troll). Note this is not intended to replace the London Club as we hope many people will attend both
  8. The regular monthly meeting of the Chicago Pen Club North Branch will be this coming Sunday, September 9. It's starting at the earlier-than-usual time of 1 pm, and will be at Reprise Coffee Roasters, 950 Green Bay Road, in Winnetka. Show, tell, buy, sell, trade or just chat. I'll have some new inks from San Francisco for people to try: three from Taccia and one from Robert Oster, via the San Francisco Pen Posse. I also picked up some test kits for us, featuring 12 different Japanese papers from Yamamoto Paper. If you've never been to our meetups, feel free to DM or email me, and I'll fill in the deets and put you on the email reminder list. We've got a great, and growing, group, and everyone is welcome to join.
  9. Good news, Chicago: we are starting a North Branch of the Chicago Pen Club, so those of us on the north side and north of the city can meet with fellow pen fans closer to home. Our first meeting of the North Branch of the Chicago Pen Club will be Sunday, February 11 at 1 pm at Reprise Coffee Roaster, 950 Green Bay Road, Winnetka. Here is a link to the Reprise website. Reprise is a small, locally-owned coffee roaster, and the Winnetka store offers coffee drinks, gourmet teas and snacks, as well as beans to take home (a Valentine's gift idea, right there). If you drive, there's free parking. If you prefer public transportation, the Hubbard Woods station of the Union Pacific North Line (Chicago to Milwaukee) is right across the street. If you bike, Reprise is one block west of the Green Bay Trail and probably two miles east of the Forest Preserve Trail. There is a Pace bus, but I think not on Sundays, unfortunately. Bring pens, inks, pen cases, paper — whatever you like. Show, tell, trade, sell, or give away any pay-it-forward items. Or just get a coffee, hang out, and check out everyone else’s pens and inks. If we have enough people, I'll try to bring a giveaway or two. Everyone is welcome. Please tell others who might not see this message. But because this is our first meeting, and it’s not a huge space, I would appreciate a heads-up if you’re coming. That way I can snag enough chairs, and notify you if we have to change anything at the last minute. You can PM me on the forum, but it’s much better to email me (by any email you already have for me, or laura@fountainpenfollies.com), or DM me on Instagram (@fountainpenfollies) or Twitter (@FPfollies). Even if you can’t make this meetup, but would like notice of subsequent meetings, send me your email and I’ll put you on the list. The Chicago Pen Club also meets at 2 pm on the third Sunday of every month in Bartlett, if that's more convenient.
  10. http://i64.tinypic.com/35clgug.jpg Karas Pen Co is proud to host and sponsor another year of the Central Arizona Pen Meet Ups. The next meeting is likely on January 13th. Yes, that's a Friday the 13th. Perhaps it should be about the scariest pen ever purchased or the ones that just had bad luck.....Cheers, Mags

  13. http://i68.tinypic.com/o0xmyo.jpg BARSTOCK CLEARANCE! After much deliberation, we are discontinuing the Barstock K Series. The Barstock pens were something we added to our line when we were asked for a true "beat around" pen. Something that a person could carry around in a rough environment and would hold up to any and all abuse. We didn't do anything special to the outside of the pen, leaving it unturned in its raw form. The caps are smooth caps, something we've never offered on a pen before. Outside of the clip there aren't any changes to the outside of the pen, the idea was the pen would look like a raw piece of material that we use to make our K Series pens. We are out of stock on the white Delrin and phenolic bodies, and have decided discontinue and sell through the raw aluminum and black Delrin rather than make more of these pens. We have some design ideas in a replacement bang around pen that we'll be prototyping this year. The Barstock pens have the following new Closeout Pricing: Barstock Render K - $40.00 USD Barstock Fountain K - $55.00 USD Decograph - Design. History. Technology. http://i63.tinypic.com/rmtxeh.jpg A streamlined, classically-influenced pen with a modern look and feel. The Decograph is a design and material hybrid that brings together elements of our metal writing instruments with fully machined thermoplastics into a quality writing experience. We've spent time looking at our particular influences in art and design along with our desire to produce high quality writing instruments and crafted a pen we feel fits our aesthetic and speaks to where we have been going as a company. Drawing on Art Deco influences of the early 20th Century and using 21st Century CNC Machining technology, we're translating our ideas into a pen that blends aircraft grade aluminum and stainless steel with modern high-strength thermoplastics fully machined in Mesa, Arizona. For more information on this pen, check out are pre-release video. Available August 2017. KARAS PEN CLUB COIN http://i63.tinypic.com/20sauqp.jpg The wait is over! The Karas Pen Club Coin is available for purchase on our website. If you haven't heard of our custom coin, I'm not sure where you've been, but on the off chance you missed some of our other videos or social media posts, here's a briefing on it. Or you could just watch the video linked HERE. The 2017 Karas Pen Club Coin features custom graphics minted on an all copper coin that we partnered with Shire Post Mint to have done specifically for the Karas Pen Club. Purchasing the coin doesn't just get you this sweet coin, but brings with it membership into the Karas Pen Club and a list of benefits for members. Some of those benefits are: Exclusive early access to new releases, limited edition items, and special editions sets.Introductory, members only pricing on select limited edition items and special edition sets.Access to free Karas Pen Club swag when you flash your coin to a Karas Pen Co employee or official representative.Access to product and focus group surveys and feedback forms.Prototype sketchbook images, early stage updates on forthcoming products, and random artwork we're adapting to future pen or logos. The coin and subsequent Club membership runs from July 2017 through July 2018, when we'll release the 2018-2019 coin, likely a new design and material. So it's kind of like a subscription service but our own spin on it. If you have any questions or concerns hit us up by responding to this email, filling out a contact form on our website, or contacting us via any of our social media accounts. http://i67.tinypic.com/wl7x8h.jpg The July Pen Meetup was a rousing success. We saw a lot of new faces. Got some great interaction. Had some pen related discussions that were quite entertaining. It was a great time had by all that attended. We're not about to slow down, below you can find the dates for the Pen Meetups for the rest of 2017. We hope to see you if you have a chance to stop by whether you're an Arizona native or just happen to be in Arizona when we host one, come spend a few hours with us on a Saturday afternoon. The August meet up will take place on August 12th from 4pm - 7pm at Karas Kustoms (126 S. Country Club Drive, Mesa, AZ 85210). We'll have snacks and sodas, the shop will be open for walk throughs and mini-tours. Dan and Paul will be available for questions concerning design and pen features. Bill Karas might even stop by and join in the conversation. We always suggest that folks bring their own pens and inks if they want to show them off or trade with each other. We try to keep it low key and family friendly. If you can't make it this, below are tentative dates for the rest of 2017. Can't wait to see you on the 12th! August 12th, 2017 September 9th, 2017 October 21st, 2017 November 18th, 2017 December 9th, 2017
