  1. For those of you who signed up to the Kickstarter campaign for the Namisu 'nexus' (and probably more so for those who didn't!), it appears Namisu.com are now co-operating with Massdrop to sell a modified version of the pen - now rebranded the 'Orion'. According to the Massdrop page (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/namisu-orion), the pen is slightly shorter, with fewer threads on the pen cap, and redesigned to allow the cap to post. Nib options have also been changed (EF, F and B instead of F, M and B in the Kickstarter campaign), which I think is a smart move. Oh, and there are fewer, shallower grooves at the gripping point of the pen, to provide a more comfortable writing experience (though I've had no complaints, personally, with the original design). The Kickstarter campaign for this pen was pretty shambolic, on a number of levels - poor communication, supply delays which led to delivery delays, the list goes on... but the pen itself was (and is) pretty nice. And the price on Massdrop is pretty competitive too! I'm not up for another Namisu pen (no complaints, just don't need 2) - but thought I'd mention it here for anyone who missed out.
  2. Hi. I am from India and this is my first post at FPN.. Kindly pardon me for any mistakes as am a newbie and trying my hand at reviewing pens.. What i have is a pen from Indian manufacturers William Pens (http://www.williampenn.net) and named Pennline orion PL730 (http://www.williampenn.net/pl730-red-chrome-trim-fountain-pen-1). Got it on sale for 600₹ (About 10$) The Name: Orion, sometimes subtitled The Hunter, is a prominent constellation located on the celestial equator and visible throughout the world. It is one of the most conspicuous, and most recognizable constellations in the night sky. Now about the pen... Its a metal pen with a medium size 4 nib. The clip is hard and not that springy to my liking. The cap pull on cap with logo on the top and mentioning "PENNLINE" at the bottom end. The section is black in colour and comfortable to hold. It is a standard international cartridge convertor filling mechanism. The nib per se is a bit feedbacky... It is not scratchy but just gives a feedback which some may like and some may not. There is no skipping at all on this pen. The pen is fairly wet. Line variation is not much and reverse writing is surprisingly smooth and writes extra fine. The ink i used was Noodlers Navajoe Turquoise I was really happy with what i got from Pennline and will definately give a try to other ones they have.

    Orion 491

Hi everyone! I found this vintage FP at a local garage sale here in Denmark. It's Orion 491 with lever filler. I searched the interned trying to find out more about the brand and the model. I found only one of them (among archived sales on a forum) - restored - and the seller mentioned the pen is from 1934. However, on a German website I came across another information that the company Orion Pen Co. changed the name to Miller Pen Co. in 1933 - meaning the pen must date from before 1933 - my guess is early '30s... Any help about sheding more light on this little thing? The nib is gold plated, with "Orion Pen Co. 1" written on it (and an ugly window reflection) The barrel has Orion logo, "fountain pen" and and model number "491"
