I just got one of the new Opus 88 fine flex nibs which I put in a Opus 88 Demonstrator Pen. It works well but is more like a semi-flex nib. It is very similar to the Omniflex nib that you can get on Conklin and Monteverde pens and that is because I think it is made by Jowo, who makes those nibs too. It writes very smoothly and doesn't railroad, but it doesn't have a huge amount of line variation. You can see my review here:

I recently became aware that one can easily install a Pilot Parallel nib into an Opus 88 Demonstrator pen. I have tried it, and it works. It is super simple. This provides at once the virtues of the Pilot Parallel nibs for calligraphy and the advantages of the Opus 88 fountain pen - better ergonomics, portability, huge ink capacity and economical ink use (compared to cartridges, unless you refill them). You will surely like the unboxing experience. Design- Very Nice, The body of the pen is made of very nice resin,it feels good in hand & material is almost scratch proof. The Lennon Tool Bar logo has been engraved on top of The cap. It has OPUS88 written too on back of clip. It looks nice IMO. The overall shape is a hybrid of both the classic flat-top classic cigar shape designs. The pen gradually gets wider as you move towards the middle of the pen and reaches its widest part on the cap.The clip is very sturdy & is reliable. The pen comes with #5 size nib,but I think size #6 nib would have been better. The finials have a mostly flat end, but there is a slight rounding to them which in my opinion looks very good. Their is an O ring at the bottom, which suits the overall appearance of the pen. Their is slight step down on section. The pen takes too many turns to uncap, around 3 which some people won’t like. Filling Mechanism- Good 👍,OPUS 88 has been making great Eyedroppers since many years now, this pen is too a no nonsense eye dropper with a shut off valve.As, you don’t need to apply silicon grease on threads unlike other ED Pens which is a very nice thing .It a simple mechanism & works perfectly. The ink capacity is around 2ml which is on higher side. The shut off valve has some impact on ink flow, but not much.I am personally fan of shut off valve filling mechanism rather than normal Eye dropper. Nib Performance – Good 👍, This pen comes with #5 steel nib. It is made by JOWO but tuned by OPUS88. It is smooth & writes very well out of the box & has very less feedback. The nib has brand name & nib size printed on it . The pen wrote very well out of the box. Overall- Very Nice 👍, This is made by OPUS88 in collaboration with Lennon Toolbar Inks, Both are young companies but they have done really great job with this pen, improving the earlier shortcomings. The pen is very nicely built & a quality product. It’s MRP will be around $90 in USA which makes it strong competitor to other pens available in this price segment. If someone is looking for a clean eye dropper pen around $100 range it’s the best. PS- I purchased this pen from Taiwan through a friend who pre-booked & then shipped to me here. Hello I was cleaning my Opus 88 demonstrator and managed to drop down the drain the internal o ring that seats at the end of nib unit and seals with the rod in the barrel. Would some kind soul please post the dimensions for said o ring. I've seen an approximation of .25" outer diameter/.125" inner diameter. Thank you so much! Cheers Scott

Not sure if anyone seen it, Opus 88 is releasing a new pen after their Bella line up. In the past I had concerns on buying an Opus 88 pens due to their relatively high price point but was softening up for the Opus 88 Omar Demonstrator version. Then this came out. Better have an internal discussion with my head, wallet and heart again.

Hi friends, had a quick question for any knowledgable or science-minded pen owners out there. I have an Opus 88 Omar — which I love — but when I clean it, something odd happens. The barrel, which is usually transparent, frosts over as soon as I empty the water out. Where water remains, it's perfectly clear, but it gradually fogs up entirely. I thought that it was simple condensation, but it seems to stay there for good (unless there's water present). As soon as it's not in contact with water, it frosts over. I can watch it happen. It doesn't scrub away with a q-tip or paper towel, either. I don't really mind the effect, but I was curious what caused it. Anyone else had this experience? I haven't seen this is any other demonstrator pens, but admittedly my pool isn't that large. Picture:

Thinking of purchasing one of these. Will probably go for the larger demonstrator as opposed to the smaller model, as it seems wetter and holds more ink. I have been on a sort of eyedropper kick lately, and this is one of the new and interesting ones. Does anyone have one of these? What do you think of it? I want to make sure that it is a quality pen before purchasing, I've watched some online reviews but want some thoughts from regular pen enthusiasts. Thanks for any opinions!
