  1. Just curious, have you ever fallen in love again? Fallen in love again with a fountain pen you purchased? For some personally sound reason, you decided to remove ink, clean the pen thoroughly, sufficiently or not and retire it or sell it to someone more deserving or foolish enough to want it more than you? On the other hand, you decided to move on to another maker, brand, or leave the game of fountain pen loving? I ask this because it is what happens to me over the years. I started with Montblanc, next moved to Pelikans. Lamys, A Bexley once. Now, my collection has become yet another metamorphosis of a perfect collection for my taste. For now, perhaps temporarily satisfied. Also ask this question because I was about to retire my Omas Ogiva Alba in orange. My extra fine point writing instrument failed to agree with Iroshizuku inks and I was using them nearly exclusively. Even though I am unable to see as blatantly the visual magic of Diamine's newest line Shimmertastic, it is my new favorite ink line nearly immediately; just tried red lustre. It works beautifully with my Omas Ogiva! I have already purchased a bottle of it and samples of several other colors. All for my Aurora borealis beauty! In love once again! So, I want to know from you have you ever fallen in love...again?
  2. From time to time when I lift my fountain pen from the paper and then put the nib to paper to start writing the next word I'll hear what sounds like a a small click or static discharge. It never makes the sound when I'm actually writing and it sounds more like its coming from the piston knob at the top of the pen than from the nib itself. I have read various posts about the tines touching when one is writing but that isn't when its making the sound. She writes beautifully and quietly otherwise. Any thoughts, answers are appreciated and thanks ahead of time. And I apologize if this was answered somewhere else but I didn't see it. Have a great day all! - Omas Ogiva Alba, EF extra flessibile
  3. À propos of previous discussions regarding OMAS Italic nibs, note that both of these nibs are 18Kt gold without tipping material. The nibs are round nibs with the tipping cut off, then ground to very smooth cursive italics. They write very smoothly, with just a bit of feedback, even with a dry ink like Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black. The green pen was purchased from a European pen shop. The shop custom ordered the pen from the OMAS factory for me. I assume the italic nib was ground for my special order. A B nib was used. The Orange pen was ordered from a U.S. vendor who had stocked Ogiva Albas with "medium italic" nibs. These were obviously ground from M round nibs. The difference between the two nibs is small but discernible. The one ground from the B nib is perhaps 0.15 mm wider than the nib ground from the M nib. Otherwise, they are the same in smooth writing and degree of thick/thin line differentiation. They would be regarded as stubs rather than cursive italics by some, I am sure. In any case, I am happy with both of these pens. David
  4. What is the problem when you have extensive nib dribble. I don't mean nib crawl where there is a touch of ink on the nib and you wipe it off. I also do not mean when you fill the fountain pen, I mean while using it; I mean after you have put it back in pen case and you remove it again to write; there is visible ink on the nib. I mean the tip of the nib is covered in the ink you are using. I am having this problem with my new Omas Ogiva Alba. I am including one picture to demonstrate. This picture is actually light nib dribble compared to some instances. Should I simply not use this ink in this pen? Wiping it simply smears it more and makes it worse. This same problem was previously posted regarding this ink doing similar when loaded in my Pelikan pens. Should I simply abandon this ink with my pens? I love the pen, love the ink, they just don't seem to like each other. Help!
