  1. Hello All, I want to thank everyone for the tons of information here. I just became addicted to these little cash evaporators. I am starting very small with some inexpensive pens. I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I really love my Pilot Metropolitans, having read some of the disparaging comments about them, I have 5 now, unfortunately one nib never seemed to work correctly, so although I love the pen, the inability to purchase and change the nib is a source of frustration. I love the ink flow and the sound they make as I write. I also love my 2 Lamy AL Stars. I bought two pink ones, because they were on sale lol. I have a Platinum Plaisir fine, a Monteverde Monza (the flex nib on this pen is awful, but it was super cheap) and the only slightly expensive pen is a Montegrappa Parola fine, which I love. Thanks for the interest! RedSquare
  2. Hey, guys I just recently joined this forum. So far it has been helpful with answering my questions and doing research about pens (I own a few 149s), and quite honestly this site has made me an addict I recently picked up a Montblanc M Ultra Black ballpoint but quite honestly don't like how the ink looks. Do any of you know if there is another sort of refill I can use with better ink? (make it look more of a gel type of ink, if possible) I tried some other inks but the damn thing is stubborn and won't close. So any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance -James

    Hello From Portland, Or

Growing up in Germany (1980s), I learned how to write using a fountain pen, exclusively. Eventually, however, I ended up in less 'enlightened' corners of the world, where fountain pens are uncommon or even unheard of. Then there was also the small matter of computers taking over our lives and the internet happening. And so I found myself decades later without giving nary a thought to the pen I write with or the paper I use it on. Putting pen to paper had become a joyless affair. Then a few years ago, I bought a Lamy Safari and a Clairefontaine notebook during an internet-fueled drive down memory lane and... I had rediscovered the joy of writing. Since then, having had to make up for those many barren years, I have pursued my newfound passion with a vengeance. I own about 40 fountain pens now (at some point there were a lot more) and more notebooks than I could fill in a lifetime. During the past few years FPN has been a wonderful resource. The community is so active that I never had to post an inquiry as someone would already have beaten me to it. Still, this is way overdue and I am happy to finally be part of the FPN.

    New To Fpn

Hello All, I'm a new member to the site, but have found myself on this it many times in the past. I am mostly interested in selling some of my (fairly large) vintage fountain pens. However, I enjoy also learning more about what i don't know about the pens I have from you all knowledgeable people. Just for introduction sake i have a range of vintage/newer Montblancs, Pelikans, Parkers, and Watermans. Also a couple Montblanc Collectors Box's (for 20 Pens / Life Style Line) in excellent condition i would be willing to let go of. Still need to figure out how to post for sale though. anyways I look forward to finally being a member!
