  1. Hi everyone! I have just been told by my cousin that I am going to be receiving a fountain pen from inheritance. The pen is a Swan 4660. My question is, what is a respectable price for a Swan 4660 that is near mint/mint possibly unused? I have NO intention of selling, and am not interested in the ridiculous amounts things go for on ebay - I'm simply wondering what a pen such as this is worth approximately given no unrealistic bidding etc? To me it is priceless and may or may not be used by me ever, I'm scared to use something possibly new old stock. While we're at it, what would a used but excellent condition one be worth being reasonable with pricing? Sorry that this is a weird question, I'd just rather know if I should protect this pen not only for personal reasons, but also monetary reasons. Thank you all! If I get the pen soon, I will upload photos!
  2. Hi, I'm waiting for a about 100 years (?) old Mabie Todd Swan eyedropper from Ireland. I found the nib fascinating... Will it be fine, much flex? My pen doesn't have an overfeed, is it missing here? Some photos here: https://www.ebay.de/itm/EARLY-20th-C-SWAN-PEN-MABIE-TODD-SWAN-PEN-SWAN-METAL-POCKET-1915-/153109745032 Can't wait to see how it writes. Best Jens
  3. Hello again experts, After everyone was so helpful to finding out more about my Swan 105/60 I'd been on the hunt for more Mabie Todd pens. I snagged this at auction recently and it has none of the numbers I was expecting on it. Is because it's an American made pen? In any case, I'd love some more info on it if anyone has any. Looking forward to restoring this beauty!
  4. A Mabie, Todd & Bard with a robust sterling overlay. Wrote out of the box. The nib is an unusual nailish one. The price when new was 30 shilling or a bit more what I see on advertisements. I would date it to 1900 - 1905. The chemistry book is from 1897. It was used by an assayer of the mint in Belgium. Cepasaccus
  5. Hi. I got this pen for about $8 of an auction at Tradera (swedish eBay) I have tried to find som information about the pen without any luck. The thing i have found out is that the swan symbol should be the logo for Mabie Todd. Is that correct? The modell is a Standard Pen and is a piston filler with a nr. 4 Ero 14k F nib with some flex. Does anyone know something about this pen modell? Best regards Pether Olsson
  6. Hey folks, I have a small dilemma. I've had this Mabie Todd Blackbird BB2-60 for a couple of months now but I just cannot get on with it at all. The nib is a medium and, looking closely at it, I wouldn't be surprised if it had been sprung some time in the past and reset. I love the BCHR and it is in very good condition in that respect. It's just that damned nib. I actually find using a Zebra G dip pen easier to use than this Blackbird nib. Has anyone else struggled with the Mabie Todd nibs. I am on the verge of giving up - which is a real shame as I like the pen overall - and selling it off for half the price I paid (or even giving it away if I cannot get that). In frustration.
  7. Greetings: I have a very cool Swan #3 nib that doesn't have a pen. Can generalizations be made about what pens the #3s were intended for? Can the MT numbering system help? Does it really make much difference? For example, can I mount the nib in an SF2 beater? I do have the feed; how interchangable are they? Or are they? Thanks much!
  8. My first fountain pen review post here on FPN, so I would gladly welcome any feedback and comments. http://i.imgur.com/5ZpPIbW.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/gNx6toZ.jpg A note, it's certainly not that blue in real life, it's far more of a grey/steel blue than that vibrant blue.
