  1. La Couronne du Comte has just put up several premium Broad-nibbed pens on its specials board for its "Winter Sale". Considering that there are no drop-down options for nib selection, from my experience it means these units are in clearance (or closeout) stock and should be ready to ship. Pelikan Souverän 800 Brown Black €329.75 ex VAT (25.4% off the list price)Pelikan Souverän M1005 Stresemann €379.34 ex VAT (26.5% off the list price)Pineider La Grande Bellezza Gemstones Lapis Blue €263.64 ex VAT (25.8% off the list price)As far as I'm aware, multi-use discount codes (some of which you could find on certain well-known reviewers' web sites) can still be applied to further bring down the effective prices. It's almost a no-brainer to get at least an additional 10% off these prices. All of the items qualify for free international shipping, even when each is ordered on its own. Alas, I have no use for any Broad-nibbed pen. <EDIT> A little more than eight hours after I posted this originally, LCdC finally got around to sending marketing email to notify newsletter subscribers of this sale. The pens listed above are all gone now.
  2. Finally! After a seven year long wait Pelikan has announced another Souverän M1005. We are very happy. They are scheduled to arrive by mid or end of February 2019. We are offering the Pelikan Souverän M1005 Special Edition Stresemann fountain pens for pre-order in our shop (https://www.fritz-schimpf.de/Neuheiten/Pelikan-Souveraen-M1005-Special-Edition-Stresemann-Kolbenfuellhalter.html). We recommend to use "Vorauskasse" (pre-payment) as payment option for the pre-order. Once the pens have arrived we will notify our clients so they can realize the payment. We offer the M1005 with nib sizes F, M and B for € 433,61 and the EF nib size for € 467,23 without the German VAT of 19%. Should you wish any information or place a pre-order you can send us an email to service@fritz-schimpf.de. Regards, Fritz Schimpf
  3. Hi all, I've been searching hi and low for a good comparison of Pelikan's M1000/1005 nibs. There are many resources available, but I can't seem to find both a good comparison a M1000/1005 nibs and comparisons against nibs of pens that I am familiar with. I am looking to purchase an M1005 and am torn between a F and a M. I have smallish handwriting, but I enjoy inks and their various colors and shadings and find that I prefer to lay down a thicker line and try to write larger than I have in the past to be able to better appreciate them. I have a cross Century II with a M nib (steel), which is just fine for me for everyday use. I have 3 Visconti's (all with dreamtouch nibs), 2 of them are F nibs which are also great for everyday use, but which also put down a decent amount of ink and get some line variation (which I love and hope to get out of the Pelikan). The third Visconti is a M nib, which is usable for everyday, but a little on the wide/heavy side (though I do love it for letters and notes to family, friends, etc.). I also have a TWSBI Eco in the 1.1 stub which isn't really usable everyday, but I absolutely love for correspondence (so much so that I have a second coming in soon so that I can have them inked in different colors or have one inked while cleaning the other). I wouldn't mind if this pen were mostly used for correspondence, but my preference would be one that could pull double duty and be used for everyday writing as well as laying down a good amount of ink for correspondence. If anyone with experience with Pelikans has any suggestions as to whether I'd be better off with a fine or medium nib, I'd greatly appreciate it.
  4. Hi everyone, I was really addicted to FP's some time ago, after experiencing multiple FP's/nib's/ink's - I stopped buying and started enjoying the pens, less occasionally tho, I used to use my pens at least every month, it's less frequent now My M1005 demonstrator had somewhat unaligned tines, so I sent it to the local distributor for a possible replacement, yet they fixed and re-sent the pen, ~ a year ago The pen had cold-start issues, yet after their tinkering, it worked better, I hoped they had a fp artisan who worked on the pen, instead of a brute tinkering, I didn't pursue the issue after that 1-2 weeks after I received the pen from them, I noticed a glare-issue on the pen's sanded logo, the peak of the mother pelikan was damaged, this might be a result of the pen dropping The sanded part in a 1mm+ diameter area is fully un-sanded, if there is any light around, the logo looks a lot like this to my eye: http://i.huffpost.com/gen/741061/thumbs/o-RESTORATION-570.jpg?4 I really enjoyed the pen before that, I still try not to judge the pen by the external abuse it has seen, yet that damage is always there to remind me For this reason, without wanting to, I distanced myself from this hobby Lately I've been trying to manually restore the sanding, by using sharp tools, like a pin, to restore the sanding dot by dot, but my attempts were ineffective Any ideas how to approach/solve this issue? Thanks in Advance
  5. A couple months ago I purchased a Pelikan M1005 demonstrator with a Medium nib, which has been a "grail" pen for me for quite a while. While it flowed like Niagara Falls at first, liberally spilling the stunning Akkerman Shocking Blue all over my Rhodia notebook's pages, somehow after removing the nib several times I must have pinched too hard or something because I completely lost ink flow. After fiddling for a while I could get it to flow while writing with the pen at a 90 degree angle. But nothing while writing normally. I've been frustrated with myself about this, but after scouring the forums here and elsewhere, in trying several different approaches with growing frustration I somehow accidentally bent the nib pretty badly (close to the point, where the nib touches the paper). I (finally!) decided I didn't want to do any more damage (not that much more could be done) so I tried briefly to straighten it, which worked a little bit, and then just left it alone. All that to get to my question: I know there are lots of great pen repair people, but I'm wondered if anyone can make a recommendation on someone who specializes in straightening bent nibs? I also need to get the ink flowing again, but I'm first concerned about not doing more damage to the nib and getting it straightened. I'm just wondering who I should send this to for the best results as I really want to use this pen for many years to come and would like to find the best person possible to fix it. Thank you in advance for any input! -Dan
