  1. I don't know why, but thread about my mobile application "My fountain pens" was deleted. Let's try again: This app lets you manage your fountain pen collection. 2. As my Christmas gift to myself, I got a Moment macro lens for my iPhone 7 plus--not cheap at around $100 for the lens, the mount, and shipping via UPS--but I think it's going to be worth every cent, thinking of all the fun I'm going to have with this accessory. http://cdn.cultofmac.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/20131228_moment-lens_0028.jpg (pic from cultofmac.com) This is what the lens looks like (it screws into a mount), and here's more info about it in case you're interested. Because of the variable mounts, it works with about 25 iOS and Android devices. And here are my first test shots:

    Well That Wasn't Fun

Earlier today I inadvertently bought about $225 worth of pens and inks ranging from Hero to Sailor 5th anniversary. Stuck my phone in my pocket and it "pocket dialed" my entire order in my eBay cart. Can you say oh......yes I know you could. Luckily my husband is bailing me out of this one and is asking me why I had $45 bottles of ink in my cart The good news is I'll have some new inks to play with
  4. I was wondering if I could make a really small light tent that would be inexpensive and simple to craft. Here's one of the first shots from it: http://home.comcast.net/~kirchh/Misc/Sheaffer_Nib_in_Microtent.jpg (click on it to make it bigger, maybe) That has been scaled down; here's a detail from the original image, at full resolution: http://home.comcast.net/~kirchh/Misc/Sheaffer_Nib_in_Microtent_Detail.jpg Here's the microtent setup: http://home.comcast.net/~kirchh/Misc/Microtent.jpg It's made from a single sheet of paper; I printed a black rectangle to serve as the black drop, then a few cuts, folds, and some tape, and it was ready to go. It's a little awkward to use with my iCroScope-equipped iPhone because of the shape of the phone -- I had trouble getting the lens close enough for good focus -- but it was a fun ten-minute project nonetheless. --Daniel

    Pens Noir

I didn’t realize how much more interesting my favorite pens could look until this afternoon when—during a long and rather boring meeting at the office—I played around with the two pens in my pocket and with my iPhone, and then applied the “noir” filter in my Camera app. Then I went home and took a few more shots of my other pens. Voila—a whole new way of looking at fine pens. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3701/11168622113_1edebf0f34_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7380/11168360655_9e43e64924_z.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3788/11168420224_5eb17ea977_z.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3769/11168402746_e268a54f1c_z.jpg A few more shots here:
