    How can I disassemble this pen?

    Since the cap keeps scratching, I try to polish the inside. Do you know how to disassemble?
  2. I currently use 52gsm white TR paper. For me it is too thin and flimsy.... and shows through more than i would prefer. I love Clairefontaine Triomphe paper but it is too heavy for multi-page international letters. So what's in between? I prefer white that's able to show sheen and shading. Blank, dot grid or lined works. I look forward to your suggestions. PS... I am in the USA so stuff I can get here, please..

  4. Hello, Could anyone tell me the difference between the Parker Duofold Prestige/Classic and International/Centennial lines. From what I can guess, The Prestige is made from brass whereas the classic is made of resin (plastic), and both come in international (short) and Centennial (long) versions. Can somebody help me clarify that?
  5. As it does from time to time, Rakuten Global Market is running another free international shipping promotion campaign, effective now until 22 March 2019 09:59 (Japan Standard Time). Australia and NZ are sadly not included (as usual), but UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Canada, USA and Russia are in scope. Minimum spend on a single order to qualify is ¥12,000 from a single shop that is on a somewhat limited list of participating shops; retailers of fountain pens and inks of interest are even fewer. I know AT-N Nagasaka and Nagasawa Stationery Center (of Kobe Ink Story fame) are among them, however. (Edit: Oh, and there is also Pen Gallery Hogado.) I've bought from both of those shops on Rakuten in the past, and the products I ordered were delivered just fine without incident. Now, I'm not really a fan of Nagasawa as a retailer myself, but I'm quite happy with the service I got from AT-N. Those of you in the UK and North America who may be interested in getting Japanese domestic market fountain pen models and inks could well benefit from this opportunity, in a way that I cannot.

  7. For a long time I've thought that pen shows are an American thing. But now I found this excellent site http://www.freewebs.com/euroshows/ which tells me that there are some pen shows in Europe as well. There doesn't seem to be as much exposure of these on FPN as of the American ones, though. What are these European shows like? I figure the ones closest to my location would be in Poland and Germany, but I don't speak Polish at all, and speak only a little German (despite the fact that I have an excam certificate which claims otherwise). So I'm wondering, how international are these shows? Are foreigners welcome? Does the audience speak English?
  8. Hi everyone! I usually carry something like 5 spare cartridges in their orginal packaging in my backpack wherever I go. Problem is, after a while of being in there, the cardboard packaging more or less gets destroyed. Does anyone know of a company that makes a hard carry case for international long (or short for that matter) cartridges? Has somebody thought of a clever solution to this? I can't believe I would be the only one with this problem! Thank you all very much in advance! - 3nding

    A Special Special Edition Duofold?

    Hi all. I've bought a mint Parker Duofold International at a low price on eBay early this year, and was told that the pen was either a special edition or mistake. The pen comes with a "Greenwich" emblem on the cap, which can be found on the Duofold Centennial Greenwich special edition that was released in 1999. There are several things that intrigue me quite a lot. First, I couldn't find any info confirming that Parker released the Greenwich edition in international models, in which this is consistent with what the seller said. Second, the Greenwich Centennial's got a black chase pattern, while my international was plain and gloss black. Besides the emblem my pen is a perfectly working ordinary Duofold International. The date code clearly shows that the pen was manufactured in the 1st quarter of 1999. which makes pretty sense as the Greenwich edition came out in 1999. And without a doubt it's a pen made in UK. Does anyone have the faintest idea of this mystery? Is this pen really a "special special" edition or mistake? Or even worse, just a random Duofold international made in 1999 with emblem changed by a random guy?
  10. I am from Bangalore and am a FP enthusiast and have managed to put up a tiny collection of FPs. I am interested in beefing up my collection little by little with some Pilots, Sailor, Platinum, Pelikan, Visconti, Omas, Edison etc. I have bought most of my collection during my travel abroad from ebay, gouletpens, iguana_sell etc. Wanted to know the experiences of other's who have tried shipping their products to India from online retailers especially with respect to the "Customs Duty" they have had to pay for the fountain pen. Is there an extra duty for pens with gold/palladium nibs etc? Also experiences of buying ink from international retailers? I know this questions would have been addressed many times but wanted to know from everyone's recent experiences.

    Engraving In Chinese Characters

    Hi! Some engraving concerns here: My wife gave me a MB classique Platinum fountain pen as her wedding gift to me. She bought it at a MontBlanc Boutique here in Manila. And I'm planning to have it engraved with my Chinese name on it, sadly the MB here in the Philippines can't engrave in CHinese characters. We'll be heading to Taiwan for a few days at the end of Jan. and I was wondering if I could also avail the free engraving of my MontBlanc Pen in Taiwan with my name in Chinese Characters even though it was purchased in the Philippines? And oh, do they really engrave it for free? Thanks and happy doodling to you all.
  12. OK, so apparantly February is Interantional Correspondance month - much like write a novel in a month - this is write a letter/postcard to someone for every day in Feb.   15. I came in contact with a collector. We were sharing pics of our collections and he mentioned that he had 2 doufolds that he wanted to sell, but they had been left with some ink for a long time. so there feeds might be clogged. he offered them both for around 165$/101 pounds/127 euros shipped. Based on the information I got on the fountain pen network, I was aware that cleaning the feeds won't be a big deal. so I said yes. The pens didn't have boxes so he couriered them in a plastic pilot pen case.he even included 2 convertors one premium and the other cheaper slide one for them. finally the pens.... the parker international godron fp the parker international black gt fp with my 149...I guess because of the angle of the photo it is looking extra large. http://i.imgur.com/xhtbYz1.jpg the image included is of the pens after I had cleaned the pens feed. the pens were in excellent shape for there age... and only 1 pen had some black ink in the feed, the other was almost clean. P.s : excuse me for the photo. I clicked it with my phone and went a little overboard with the phone's photoeditor.
  16. Does anybody know where I would be able to get Black n Red casebound, A4 sized, narrow-ruled notebooks in the USA? I can't find them anywhere! The wide ruled version is available everywhere, but the narrow-ruled one is nowhere to be found. Also, if you live in the UK and have access to these notebooks, I would be willing to pay or trade for you to ship me one if there are no US sellers. I could technically order off of UK websites that sell them, but the shipping they charge triples the cost for me.
  17. Hi everyone! This summer as I was decluttering my grandparents' home I found an old pen - looks like it might be a frankenpen. It makes a perfect repair guinea pig for me, because the barrel is pretty enough to act as incentive, yet the pen has no sentimental value (and apparently no monetary value either) so if I mess up there's no tears or gnashing of teeth The only sticking point now is getting the supplies. I would much prefer an inclusive kit rather than collecting everything over time, because every time I've approached a new activity that way, I have invariably ended up overspending and getting more stuff than I really need because of how everyone seems to have their own favorites that they swear by and I can't sort out the absolute necessities from the personal favorites. I've found that going with a starter kit cuts through that. The other problem is price, particularly shipping. I'm in Greece, so it can add up! The ideal kit for me is inclusive, but not overwhelming, and should cost under $100 including s&h. And if it only includes tools and multiple use supplies (eg talc, polish) but no parts (like sacs), then it should be a lot less than $100 since I'd have to buy those things extra So far I have found exactly one place (the first kit probably, the second includes 'Da Book' which is probably a bit more information than I could absorb this early on). If you have experience with them, I would love to hear from you. But if you use somebody else, please let me know! I am just sort of feeling my way around right now so I'll happily take recommendations Thanks in advance!!
  18. Can someone identify my Duofold? I was given it as a gift in 1998. The size is 13.1 cm which corresponds to the international version. I can't seem to find on the web any Parker Duofolds with single-tone arrow nib like mine... Does anyone have a Duofold with a single-tone nib like this one???
