  1. Hello to everyone. I found three really similiar looking fountain pens at my love's flat. I wonder what brand they could be or how old they must be, what their engraved subtitles refer to and so on. I took photos and luckily I can read small letters from close, so I can write what I found engraved on their tips. I will describe them according to their order on both photos, they are in the same order on both. On the left, no pattern: has a "Spirit of St Louis" graving at the bottom edge of the lid. On the point "Iridium point" and Germany are engraved with some nice spiral-decorated "frame" like pattern. It seems to be made of steel or some other lighter metal. Middle one, "stripy": on the tip it says "Radiant tipped" and "Made in USA". It has a very light, plastic feeling, especially the lid. The other two have more metal weight and feeling. On the right, with black shapes: on the tip it says "Matador", below that is an encircled "1" and below that is New York. The lid and body are made of metal. Thank you in advance Update: Found one more, it was in a Marksman titled case, but I'm not sure if it is one. It says "Iridium point" on the tip as well with the same nice swirls, but no "Germany" is engraved. It must have been a company gift, since there is a Philips logo on its lid. There is a very little figure on the golden clip which looks like a winged human figure standing on one leg and holding a stretch-out bow. Naturally the last photos with the dark blue pen count here.
  2. Hello all, I am trying to write on a dark blue paper (paper source) with a golden color. I use to use a golden-color ball point uni-ball 1.0 mm. However, 1.0 mm nib is too wide and I need more precision. I ordered some golden color ink samples for fountain pens from Goulet Pens and they do not work on dark blue paper at all. I did some search and it seems that it is not possible to use fountain pens to write with golden color on a dark page. Is that true? If fountain pens are not an option, do I have to use a dip pen? Is there any entry-level dip pen you would recommend that is similar to Pilot Metropolitan Medium nib? What golden ink I should use for the dip pen? Thanks in advance. Parker 50 "golden Falcon" Help

I've just picked up a Parker 50 Falcon in Gold Lattice Pattern and am looking for a little help with it. http://pencollect.co.uk/personal/15.jpg I believe that this pattern was made exclusively for sale in W H Smiths shops in the UK and marketed as the "Golden Falcon" - can anyone verify this? I also believe that the pen was sold from 1981 to 1983 - which would mean that it should be date coded. However the pen has no date code on it. Does any one know if this was standard on this model ? If anyone else has this model, is yours date coded? Were they manufactured prior to 1980? Any help would be appreciated. Mike

    Sailor Bungbox Nostalgia

Well here is my review for the Sailor Bungbox Nostalgia ink. I'd gotten this last year when these were readily available. Sometimes you can find them at Vanness Pen Shop web site, currently priced at $43 a bottle. If you are in Japan, or traveling there, you can shop at the Bungbox store itself. The usual papers MvL=Mohawk via Linen, Hij=Hammermill 28 lb inkjet, TR=Tomoe River. The ink is not waterfast or resistant at all. It's not supposed to be, but thought I'd mention it. In the range of brown inks I own, this one is unusual. By that I mean it doesn't match color-wise anything else I have. Of course I don't have every ink, so it may well be similar to something else. The ink is perfectly nice, but pricey. After a couple weeks in the pen the ink did darken up somewhat since more water evaporated. It's nice either way.

    A Well-Behaved Golden Brownish Ink?

Hello FPN, I need some advice on what well-behaved golden brownish inks are out there. I have been searching and searching for a while and doing research on this, but it always results in some problem people have with the ink. 1) Noodler's Golden Brown is reported to be dry and leaves a residue on demonstrators 2) Diamine Golden Brown is also dry 3) Diamine Ochre seems to get gunky and stains demonstrators 4) PR sepia has issues with clogging Now the thing is, I want to use this ink in a demonstrator - either a Kaweco sport clear as an eyedropper or a TWSBI 580 Diamond, both with either fine or extra fine nibs. So my concern is both, staining and dry inks in fairly fine nibbed pens. Any ideas out there on what else is there to try? (Also would be great if it is not too pricey!) Thank you! EDIT: Please feel free to tell me about your favorite warm-toned brown inks as this is something I am open to as well! Thanks!
