I'd Buy That For A Dollar

Hello! It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I thought that the deal I found last week might intrigue some folks (with pictures). Apparently the Dollar Tree (US-based store where all items are priced at $1) is now in the business of selling glass pens + coordinating ink! Quite surprisingly, it's not too scratchy and does a great job retaining ink between dips, both with the provided ink and other FP inks (I have not yet tested it with shellac-based inks.) The provided ink bottle is 6.8ml (0.23 fl oz) in a dark, mossy green which matches the pen shaft. Very slight shading.
  2. Hey all, see title as above. I know these types of pens have been produced by Chinese manufacturers. I have need of a glass dip pen but I also have children who would gleefully break the European-Venitian style 100% artfully-blown glass bodied ones in under 5 minutes. So can someone point me to a good Chinese alternative here? I don't mind pretty but I need a sturdier barrel than glass. And maybe an ability to replace the nib if it got broken due to gleeful children... ;-) Thanks! :-)

    Glass Nibs For Haro Pens

I have really trouble to find fitting glass nibs for my Haros. I have two pens and both have original nibs chipped badly. Both pens are really pretty colored, lever-filler got new sac and piston filler works. So these need nibs. Those nib which have little blue ball are original nibs. They are little bit smaller than that lighter coloured nib, that I ordered on ebay. Originals are both 4mm diameter and the lighter one is 4,5mm. It fits on my other haro, but not deeply enough. Other one it didn't fit at all. Where I could find these smaller glass nib? I would think that since Haro is German brand, german glass nib would be better fitting. I have tried ebay, with no luck. But also, because I don't speak german, I have trouble to use germany ebay. Also, if someone have spare glass nibs lying around, I would happily buy some. I was also thinking about sanding those new nibs smaller, but I'm afraid that it will disturb the ink flow. Those channels aren't deep and sanding 0.5mm may make them useless. And sanding olds nibs isn't option, they are chipped and will break. I was also consider get nibs custom made, but I have no idea is that possible or where I could find this kind of service.
  4. I recently bought this beautiful glass nib fountain pen. I really like this pen. It's perfect size for my really small hands and color is beautiful. But this pen seriously needs repair. This is lever filler, so sac is completely destroyed, pen rattles. I think clip isn't original. Nib is slightly damaged, really scratchy. But I really want to restore this pen. Problem is, I haven't restored any fountain pens before. I need some advice. Is it even safe to try remove section, since it's may be glued? Lever feels spring loaded, so would this bring some issues, like flying springs? Is this celluloid safety to soak? Since pen may be full of dried ink. I got small black pieces on my desk and stained my hands, when tried lever system first time. Nib needs little work. It has one broken "tine" and it is really scratchy. I have bad feeling about replacement nibs, that they may be hard or impossible to find. Smoothing is possible, but how hard is it to do on glass nib?

    Spors, Et Al.

New arrivals in the house of trdsf! I've been wanting one of these for a while, and landed two in one lot: the middle two pens are Spors glass-nibbed FPs, one lever fill and the other my first crescent fill -- all the crescent needs is a new sac and a little polishing and it should be good as new. The brown snakeskin on the bottom is a Eberhard Faber Permapoint (with no cap, unfortunately) and the black pen on top is completely without identifying marks. To which I can only say "Woot!"
