Leaking Etalon - End Of The Line?

This blue Etalon is a beautiful Waterman with a great gold nib. Sadly it's leaking from somewhere inside the section and the ink is seeping out around the cap ring. I got the authorisation to send it off to Waterman in Paris but the factory returned it as can't-fix-no-parts. There doesn't seem to be a crack in the section - the ink leaks out of the metal / plastic join and must be coming from a bad seal inside the section. So before attempting a solvent weld to repair it would be necessary to separate the section, metal mid piece and feed. However the join is pretty solid - some glue must be involved. Has anyone tips on disassembling an Etalon?

Waterman L'etalon For A Fountain Pen Noob

I own a Waterman L'Etalon ballpoint, which I love. And I want to complement it with the fountain pen: I love the elegant, sophisticated yet simple look of it and I love its solid weight. However, looking around the internet, they don't come cheap - to my standards. I am a fountain pen noob, so before spending an inordinate amount of money on a pen, I would like to experience somehow if I like the fountain pen experience in the first place. Can you guys give me a hint as to where to start? Does a supermarket pen provide a similar writing experience as does a luxury pen? Are there any others ways to help me avoid this being an expensive gamble? I know of no place in my neighbourhood where I can test a pen, especially not a vintage pen. Thanks a lot for your input!

    L'etalon Ears

Hello all! This week I bought a Waterman L'Etalon in blue (I'm really bad in names for colors) pretty cheap and it is in practically mint condition. It is not in fully mint condition since it doesn't include the ears that keep the cap in place. The previous owner couldn't tell me how these got lost and based on the conversations I had with them, they don't know much about fountain pens. When I take the gold plated ring off, it looks like the ears-ring is the only part missing. I emailed Waterman about getting a spare part. They can't help me, because the L'Etalon is too old. Now I turn to this wonderful forum and my question to you all is: Does anybody know how to get Waterman spare parts or does anybody has a spare part like this? Plan C is to acquire a drawing and make the part myself. It's a wonderful pen and I really would like to take it outside my house. This is slightly hard now since the cap is falling off. Thanks a lot as always!
