This ink was part of blind ink testing on another pen site. It's a happy colour, for people who love blue, shading and use good paper and avoid water I won’t recommend this for sweaty palms or mermaids It’s a great colour for artwork and washes, as you can see on this quick sketch on Apica: Chroma: Dry time is long on Rhodia: on Tomoe RIver 68gr it didn't dry after 3 hours, so I had to use a tissue paper as a blotter, see for yourself: Ink on tissue paper: It loves water as you can see, but something might be salvaged... I've gone through the five stages of grief with this ink (Sailor Bungbox Kabayaki of the Hamaneko Eel) which cannot be had for love or money unless their ink-sensei decides to make more. The sixth stage, of course, is making a substitute. 2/3 Iroshizuku Yama-Guri, 1/4 Diamine Oxblood and a bit of Diamine Ancient Copper for the bit of yellow. It's simpler, but close enough for rock 'n' roll.

What do you mean I can't get any more?!! Does Sailor just do one small run of their Bungbox colors, or do they make more every so often? I hope they make more Eel - it's such a fantastic color and it's easier to get your hands on German pharmaceutical heroin right at this moment.

After some experiment and consulting the Fountain Pen Hospital while I was in NY, I decided to use American Eel ink (bulletproof version) on this pen. The piston seems to have loosened after this and I found that writing is very pleasant. http://img.vim-cn.com/8f/8b8b672cf539683549319055a51b4409677e81.jpg This writing sample is done on a Rhodia dotpad and I still have not managed how to use this kind of grid yet. The dry time is relatively long as Noodler's bulletproof ink always does (and the large amount of ink laid by this Soyuz only made the problem worse). The writing was smooth and enjoyable. The only annoying thing is that the ink has that distinctive smell which can be a bit annoying to some people. Thanks for the advice on using silicon greece but I cannot open this pen so I can only use some lubricative ink.

I'm looking for a wet flowing medium blue If you have used Noodler's Blue Eel can you help me with these questions: 1. Is it 'as blue' as Baystate Blue? From the goulet colour swatch it looks even more vibrant! 2. Does it flow well? Is it wet, in between or dry? 3. Any odd characteristics?

If like me, you're UK based, and are missing certain qualities from Noodler's inks then I'm interested to know how you feel. I just paid a small fortune to get some lubricated ink yesterday, as it invariably has to come from abroad. We have our own, home grown and chromatically innovative Diamine up in Liverpool, and I want to press them to be more creative in this regard. Virtually everyone would benefit as Nathan is having a hard time keeping up, and Diamine already have so many admirers worldwide.
