  1. Hi, this week I’ve received a rather dull pen, who, after a good cleaning with silverpolish, came out to be a very beautifel ugly ducklet. I did some research after the name on the box (schaap citroen) and emailed the company that I found online. It turned out to be indeed a “Schaap Citroen” fountainpen from the 80s, in near mint condition. I think I am the first person to put ink in it. The company stated it’s an exclusive pen they selled back in the 80s, made out of first quality silver (925). The irridium point writes like a charm, smooth and with an uninterrupted inkflow. It’s got a real heavy feel to it, but not too heavy. The cap closes neatly with a solid click and fits perfectly. The design is perhaps a bit spartan, but it’s got a stylish quality that appeals to me. Has anyone encoutered this kind of pen too perhaps? Happy holidays!!
  2. Hello everyone 😊, greetings from the Netherlands! Happy to be here in the Fountain Pen Network 😁 I need your expertise. I've acquired this striking, antique personalized dip pen made of ivory from a reputable auction house. Aside from certifying the authenticity and legality of the item, they don't have information such as: Were pens like these made for military personnel, artists, medical staff at that time, etc? Were these given as an acknowledgement of a notable contribution or because of a special event? Was personalization of pens like these typical back then? I'm a complete novice on fountain pens and after hours of research, I couldn't find any leads. I just want to know the story behind it. I did find some Frans Peeters during that time period: one was a soldier, one was an artist and another one was a Belgian architect. I don't know if the any of them is the Frans Peeters I'm looking for. Perhaps it's best I approach a Dutch govt. body on public records. Any info would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

    Hello From The Netherlands

Hi, my name is Anna. I was given a fountain pen September 2018, a Pelican M205 with a broad nib. It brought back the joy from learning writing at school in the '70s. We used a slanted French round hand in the Netherlands, with fountain pens. The Pelikan showed me quickly that I prefer lighter pens, with finer nibs. And that I hold my pen ridiculously far away from the nib. Somewhere half way the pen? And use it uncapped. As I went out and looked for a pen matching those preferences I found out I may be a bit of an odd duck with today's enamourement with broad heavy cigar type fountain pens. I had a lovely trip to Akkerman in The Hague and to the Nijmegen Pen Shop. At Akkerman I bought a Sailor Chalana which I use daily as it fits into my notebook. And some glitter ink (Diamine) that clogs up fine nibs... The owner of the Nijmegen Pen Shop taught me a lot about my preferences. He kept pulling pens from everywhere! Light pen, fine nib, usually a click closure to prevent holding it at the thread and.... a gold nib. I love how one can talk about these nuances -for which I of course lacked the words, I only know what my hands tell me- but a professional recognizes what's important. He educated me. Showed me variables. Let me feel the variables. Together we found the fountain pen that suits me to a t: a celluloid Boston Diamond from the 1930's. What? yeah. It's the one that my hands loved. It was My Pen the moment I picked it up. It's a vintage if not antique Dutch brand. Parts came from various countries and assembly was in the Netherlands. Celluloid. Mine is more slender than usual and an absolute light weight. It has a push system(? I do not possess all the words yet. It has a sack inside.) Here are some pictures and also a picture of the font I was taught at school, at age 6. I let my muscle memory do the work, hence why there are some wrong ones like the first E and the w. Hope you enjoy and hope to talk to you. I've learned so much already on this forum. It was my first go to when I wanted to learn more about fountain pens last November. And I keep coming back.
  7. Hi, I'd like to announce there's a Slack group for Dutch fountain pen users. The Slack group was initiated by a Redditor on /r/vulpennen, so everyone in the chat group right now is from Reddit. Unfortunately, the Dutch fountain pen community on Reddit is a very small one, so we're not with very many people yet. That's why I thought I'd share the link on here as well. We discuss fountain pens, inks, paper and writing. We're also still discussing the details of our possible first meetup. Everyone who speaks Dutch and loves fountain pens can join us at https://vulpennen.slack.com Slack is a messaging site where you can also share documents, pictures and other things like that. You just need an email address to make an account. You can download their app, but they also have a website. If you're hesitant to join and have any further questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I'll hopefully see you there! Sincerely, Gemma
  8. I did a search on the forum and found a US, British and South Korean ink (sample) exchange, but nothing that covers my neck of the woods (well, at least not in the 10 pages of results my search returned). I see pictures and read descriptions of inks pretty much daily. Many of them leave me curious about how they are in the analog world. Unfortunately, many of these inks (e.g. Noodlers) are not available here and I simply don't have the budget to buy every ink I'd like to try. I really can't imagine I'm the only one with this problem, so I'd like to know if there are other folks here that would be interested in swapping ink samples. Myself, I'm interested in both samples to use and samples of real world usage of an ink (as the latter would seriously reduce mail costs, sending a small package abroad is almost as expensive as a 80ml bottle of Diamine here in the Netherlands. I was thinking about maybe creating some kind of template/form that participants can print out and fill in with the ink in question, so you always know what to expect). My (fairly limited) collection of inks consists of: Diamine Emerald Diamine Red Dragon Diamine Royal Blue J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir J. Herbin Orange Indien J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune J. Herbin Rouge Bourgogne Hero 232 Blue-black (iron-gall) Pelikan 4001 Brilliant black Rohrer & Klingner Blu Mare Rohrer & Klingner Helianthus Rohrer & Klingner Magenta Sailor Jentle Blue-black So, anyone interested in something like this?
  9. whaddya think, i really like how animalistic and mythological the script looks and i think it would look great (albeit written out with a bit more regularity)

    New Dutchie Here.

Hello, So Lets just tell the story that inevitably let me here.... When I was a young boy school introduced me to a fountain pen, and even though I'm a dyslectic fu... person I started writing. Doodles became stories and stories became poems till I drew attention to myself for handing in my assignments in rhyme. Most of my early stuff got lost in a school fire, of which I was innocent ofc... And well the joy to write with a fountain pen slipped away from me and after that went the joy of writing itself. One day cleaning my room I found my school pen and things started rolling as I stopped using rollerballs. So now I got some more pens and started writing more and more, and now I have boxes of journals full with short stories and poems and a few books that will probably never get their end on paper. But since this small collection of pens all have their own character and I want to get the most out of all of them I found my way here. This is me, looking forward to speak to you ppl Here I lay my soul in ink. Here i lay my soul in ink. Fearing what others think. Will they like it, as I do? Will they hate it, how I used to? Here I lay my soul in ink. Hoping what others think. Will it show them who I am? What I can not, what I can. Here I lay my soul in ink. Surprised of what others think. It is nothing like I thought. It is what karma brought. Here I lay my soul in ink. Loving what others think. It reflects what I am, A poet, a child and a man.
  11. Has anyone seen a Dutch Netherlands 18 carat (750) gold hallmark on a recently made solid gold Montblanc pen? I am used to seeing the 750, STOD, and the two smaller stamps on solid gold examples online. I am also familiar with the similar vermeil and silver hallmarks (Ag 925, STOD, and two smaller stamps) on two Montblanc pens I own (75th pinstripe, and a vermeil). However, the example I am considering has STOD and Au 750, but instead of the two smaller stamps I see a larger stamped rectangular box, with cropped corners, with a rose and the number 750 inside, as depicted in the links below [kleine voorperwen (small articles) 750 gold]. Has Montblanc recently changed their gold hallmarking? Please advise.
