  1. Hello Everybody, Just wanted to make a quick announcement for a show coming up. The official Dallas Pen Show 2020 was cancelled, but we have decided the show must go on! The show will not be quite like the normal show due to Covid. We are taking many precautions in relation to this. The show will be in the same location as normal at the Doubletree by Hilton near the galleria in Dallas. It is in the same two ballrooms. Due to Covid the number of tables are greatly reduced, and meet all CDC guidelines and social distancing procedures. Hand sanitizer will be placed all around the show in addition to face coverings being required. We will have face shields available at no charge at the door. There will also be restrictions in place as far as number of people allowed in the show, so a line could form. We want to make this show as fun as possible, but we are doing everything we can to make it a safe show for all vendors and attendees. I hope everybody is as excited for the show as we are, and we hope to see you there! The event is Friday September 25th from 12pm-7pm, and Saturday September 26th from 10am-5pm! Flyer attached with all of our exciting vendors that will be in attendance! Hotel Address 4099 Valley View Ln, Dallas, TX 75244

We hope anyone that can make it shows up and enjoys themselves. Both guests are great to talk to and have a lot of experience in the industry. I will also be doing an interview with Dante and hope to get a video up early next week. If anyone has any questions they would like me to ask, please shoot them my way! Its our first big event of 2018, and it will run from 10AM-4PM. We hope to see everybody here! Great Service From Dromgoole's

Some of you may have been aware of the Namiki Yukari Grapevine I purchased from Dromgoole's at the Dallas Pen Show that turned out to have a Pilot nib. To make a long story short, Larry Dromgoole arranged for an exchange of the pen for one with a proper Namiki nib. The pen is to be a gift to a good friend of mine who is a winemaker, and I'm sure he will be pleased. I appreciate Larry's help in taking care of this, and I highly recommend his store to everyone. He knows how to take care of his customers!

    Dromgooles Blue Steel

Here is a review of Dromgooles Blue Steel ink. It's an exclusive to Dromgooles Fine Writing and Stationary, a B&M store in Houston, TX, USA. I was given a sample by the Inky Goddess Amber. Some of the scans imply that the ink shades. It does not. Very very little shading on the papers I used. In looking at my notes of other inks, it actually is quite similar in color to Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo. It appears to be almost completely made from a single dye, one that matches Phthalo blue. Just a small hint of a blue-green when washed out. The first three scans are done at 150 dpi as a balance between space and clarity. I don't know how to do any kind of color correction, so the settings are the basic ones from the scanner. For some reason, the FPN software makes you download the PDFs which are the scans of the review but you can see the same think with the photos. Maybe not as clear, precise. Dromgooles Blue Steel005 150dpi.pdf Dromgooles Blue Steel006 150dpi.pdf Dromgooles Blue Steel007 150 dpi.pdf Here is an ink drop spread on a damp paper towel. I hope this shows up properly. Dromgooles Blue Steel010.pdf By way of comparison here are some photos from the iPhone. Not color corrected except by iPhoto. But they look reasonable. I want to end with — I like the ink. Not as wet as I might usually go for, but it's very good and very reliable. Appears to be non-staining. If it was easier to get, and in a bit larger size, I could see myself getting a bottle. I'm in the process of using up the lovely sample. My ink collecting right now is fairly narrow in range, and so while the color fits that profile, I'll just stick with Tsuki-yo for now.

  15. So, the cost for Noodler's, Diamine and Toucan inks are downright inexpensive compared to Caran d' Ache and retail on Pilot Iroshizuku. Of course, we all search for deals or spend money with our favorite retailers. The question from Top Pen was should he spend the extra money on CdA? Let's hear from you inky buyers. (Because we all know Amber doesn't need a reason to buy ink).
