  1. I walked down to Greenwich Market last Thursday hoping there would be a few stalls open. One had a couple of fountain pens, including this desk pen. I'm a sucker for Whitefriars bases so pounced on this. When I got it home and had a proper look, the sac was completely clean, I gave it a fill with water and no old ink came out at all! Question About 21 And 51 Desk Sets.

I'm new here and have only been collecting for about a year. I have recently got into 51s and was wondering if a 51 would fit into a 21 desk set or vice-versa? Sorry if this is common knowledge but I gave it a couple googles and couldn't find any good information. Thanks in advance.
  3. A Parker Eversharp Desk Set Ball Point Pen Box says "A Division Of The Parker Pen Company" so it must be 1957 or after. Does anyone have any experience with these? I have not seen one before

Vp (I Think) Desk Pen Help

Hello FP Gang, I have been going through my desk set pens and found what I think is a VP. Not sure I know what I have so I turn to the FP network, where all my questions seem to get answered. Where I need help is, 1. Is this a VP? 2. The indicator seems to do nothing but change the feel of the grip, is this correct? 3. What is the filling system? It looks like a eyedropper filler. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Groovy Desk Set

Can someone tell me the purpose of the shallow channel or groove that is found on some of the stone desk sets? I can speculate (pencil, letter opener, etc.) but was there a specific reason for it? It may be of interest to some that this particular desk set came from Lipic's. The label reads: Lipic's / "The Pen House of St. Louis" / Corner 8th & Olive [CORRECTION: 6th & Olive, per cleosmama]/ St. Louis, Missouri. Any tips on polishing marble? I've used the "soft, dry cloth" method, and obviously don't want to do damage. It's in terrific condition; just want to bring out the glow.
  6. I currently do not own any Esterbrooks, so I'm not familiar with their values. Saw this very clean Esterbrook Feed-Matic Base (green base) desk set this weekend at an antique store for $60. Seems like a good deal to me, but I am not certain. Just might become my first Esterbrook.

What To Look For In A Desk Set

I don't know if this has been asked before, but what should I look for when buying an Esterbrook desk set? Either a 444 or 407 and the variations upon them.
  8. Here's your morning dose of cognitive dissonance. This is a Wahl-Eversharp desk set offered by the guys at Pendemonium. Looks like the Europeans are checking out the competition: http://i.imgur.com/gSifqz8.jpg

    Parker 45 Desk Set

Just got this Parker 45 desk set in a divided wood box. I won't have it for a few days or so, but it sure looks nice. Appears to be from the late 1960's. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Parker-45-Fountain-Pen-Desk-Set-on-Wooden-Divided-Box-/331416979084?_ilink=&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI331416979084.N9.S1.M-2451.R1.TR1&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=Tcfh0W%252FmV6LD7nQM49fbpbLUFwE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Need Info On Parker 21 Desk Set

So I found this parker 21 desk set at an antique shop, and picked it up for $12. It had a lot of dried up blue ink (guessing it's parker superchrome) which I have been cleaning. I am wondering if there is any information about the desk set itself. The lady at the antique store dated it back to the 1940s which seems plausible. The rotary drum clock has a us patent no of 2335863. After looking that up it shows that the clock was invented by Edward Kottle in 1943, but there is no mention of it being licensed to be used for a desk pen set. If anyone has any information about this please share. Any information will be appreciated.
  11. I am starting to wonder if these things are like wire clothes hangers - multiplying on their own while my back is turned. I got an Eight Ball. I think it came in with some other stuff I bought on ebay. I really do. And then I wanted one desk pen for it. I now have four Estie desk pens here on my desk, one plain black Estie that lacks a cap and might like to be thought of as a desk pen, and another bona fide desk pen coming in the mail. I have the Eight Ball. I have another Eight ball lacking the plastic part - I stuck a bead with a hole just the right size in there. I wrapped up a piece of black foam to fill in the neck of a very small vase for a third one. A fourth is in some other brand of pen holder - no, that's the Sengbush, I had to put it somewhere... Everywhere I turn there is an Estie desk pen... I am going to have to open a hotel. One on the desk in every room. It is my destiny.
