  1. I was browsing on Taobao today and noticed that there is a new model listing of Delike. Like all delike pens, this one seems to have the no24 nib (EF, F and fude). The barrel is brass, it weighs 45grams with cap. Capped: 101mm Uncapped : 116mm Barrel diameter width: 11mm Section diameter: 9.5mm Comes with mini 2.6mm converter (I presume it's the usual delike converter on HyunYuan. Jinhao cartridges should fit) The clip is fashioned similarly to moonman m7. And according to the taobao listing it might not exactly align with the nib when screwed on the back (you probably need to pull the nib and rearrange it yourself) The finishing seems to be the same as the delike alpha (brass finish version) Like other delike pens, this one seems to use the same screw out nib units (you can also pull the nib units out of the housing if anyone is wondering) Needless to say as a fan of delike metal pens I have ordered this, I estimate it will be a month before I have it on my hands.
  2. From the album: Nib comparisons

  4. From the album: Hanging in the balance

If I recall correctly, the vendor called this pen model (with four variants in the type of wood used) a very informative “Delike Handmade Nature Wood Barrel", but it looks just like a Delike Submarine with a wooden barrel and brass finial to me.

I must admit I'm uncertain whether the Delike Submarine pen pictured has an acrylic barrel or a celluloid barrel. The item listing said celluloid, but I cannot detect any camphor smell.

  8. A week or so ago I picked up a couple of Delike Elements from Amazon. I had read a few enthusiastic reviews of the "mini fude" nib and was looking forward to investigating them. I'm sad to say that of the four Delike nibs now in my possession (EF, F, and two mini fude) none of them were ones that I am at all inclined to spend any time writing with. Only one was any good at all, and the mini fude nibs were truly truly terrible. I mean, these nibs were born on the side of the hill, one tine longer than the other tine still. Twisted tips, off center *and* off angle slits, bad grind with burrs all over the place both right side up and upside down. Sadness. All the same, it's a pretty cool pen. The same #5ish Jinhao nibs that go into the 8802 will fit in here just fine. I turned one of the two Elements into a sketch pen for my mom using a fude version of such a nib. The one I kept for myself I did something a little more fun (at least, I think so) with. I really dislike the Bock nibs in most Kaweco pens. On the other hand, I really like the JoWo nibs found in the Kaweco Perkeo. The Perkeo itself, though, I find kind of lackluster. I'm not a fan of the section facets, and its whole presentation lacks a certain "cool fountain pen gravitas." (I understand the reason for this is that it's targeted at youngsters; all the same it's not my preferred choice of delivery systems for those nifty Black Oxide JoWo nibs). The tiny Kaweco Lilliput takes the same nibs (I think they're called #2 even though they're not 2mm across) as the Sport. But the Delike Element is EXACTLY the right size to fit the Perkeo nibs, and the raw bronze deluxe clip from the Lilliput will fit, if you widen the collar just a little bit. And so, here is the Kawecified Delike Element. I think it's a pretty slick pen, and the irony cracks me up. (BTW, I replaced the Delike converter - which rattles like CRAZY - with one of those "deluxe" Jinhao ones that have a brass-colored band. It's a nice tight fit and doesn't shake around.) With Jinhao 159 for scale comparison:
  9. Delike's got a new offering in the form of the Delike Element and well OK let's admit it its a clone of a particular famous German model , this time instead of the usual EF and Mini fude , the pen is offered with Fine or Mini-Fude
  10. Calligraphy lovers rejoice! Today Shanghai Jingdian started offering sets of five italic nib units that will screw into Delike pens and a few models of Moonman pens. These are currently in their Taobao store, but keep your eyes peeled for them to start showing up on eBay soon. http://m.tb.cn/h.37htpcP?sm=9758e2
  11. This was a pen I was prepared to like. At $12, it's a bargain. Its small size, however, keeps it from becoming a personal favorite. But for some folks, this new Delike wood fountain pen can be a real winner. I love the wood. After my positive experience with the Moonman M1 wood and brass pen, I’ve tipped over the edge in my appreciation for wood as a pen material. The wood is dark, subtly-figured, smooth, warm and perfectly finished. In short, wonderful. I picked the darker wood (黑檀) because the section is black plastic and so fits visually with the body of the pen. At a casual glance (or in lower light) it looks like the section might be wood. The metal threads in the section add quality. The converter fits snugly, works well and come apart easily for cleaning. The use of a Delike (Dlike?) screw-in nib unit is also a plus. I like the idea of being able to swap in the bent fude/art nib that came with the Moonman M1. The cap, however, is a bit thicker-walled than I expected. The step-up from the section to the barrel is correspondingly pronounced and sharp-edged. The threads on the body are smooth and appropriately course. The cap comes off in just under 1.5 turns. A plastic insert inside the cap should help keep the nib from drying out. Visually, the cap outweighs the barrel more than I really like. But I find the rounded ends of the cap and barrel just about perfect. There’s zero branding on the pen (save the nib) so it’s attractively clean. Compared to other pens, the Delike Wood is small, just 12.5cm capped and 11.3cm uncapped. It’s also light, at 12.7 grams uncapped and 20.1g with the cap on. Left to Right: Lingmo Lorelei, Jinhao 992, Delike Wood Sadly, for me this pen is just too small to be comfortable. The pen doesn’t post well and becomes ungainly when you try. Plus, wood-on-wood doesn't sound like a good idea. That said, the pen writes well. I got it with an EF nib and smoothed it a bit on a micromesh pad for good measure. The nib and feed perform flawlessly, laying down a consistent correct amount of ink for a fine line. The combo is not wet, but it never skipped. Loaded with Noodler’s Zhivago, the pen wrote very nicely in a Spanish MiquelRius 90g extra opaque paper notebook. The size makes the pen tiring to use for longer writing sessions. It’s a small pen. And for that reason, I’ll probably look for a friend to give the pen to. Someone who will appreciate the wood. The pen is ¥76, or about $12, on Taobao. I hope that Delike will rethink this pen and make a larger version 2.0. More pictures and comments here.
