    Crane Stationery

The Boston Globe recently interviewed Crane & Co. creative director John Segal. http://postscript.crane.com/paper-habits-boston-globe/http://postscript.crane.com/paper-habits-boston-globe/ Reminds me of visiting my Uncle John's print shop as a kid. Happy reading and writing.
  2. Hi, I would like to ask you for advice. I have just bought a platinum modern maki-e makie crane fountain pen from ebay and I would like to know how I can make sure that the pen is authentic. The pen is a gift for my girlfriend and I want to be sure that it is genuine. Best wishes, Henry
  3. Hi friends! I've been gradually getting deeper and deeper into this world o' fountain pens since giving my first Lamy Safari a shot two years ago. I finally wrote a post on my own blog about the hobby and what fountain pens mean to me and why I like them, which necessitated some pictures. So I busted out my camera and tried to get all pretty-like with some of my gear. All of what you see below is also in the blog post. Hope you enjoy these first attempts. Feedback and advice greatly appreciated. And thanks to all for the mountains of info I've gleaned as a long-time lurker here on FPN. Wouldn't have enjoyed the beginnings of this fanaticism wonderful hobby without you all! -The Idle Expatter (AKA Steve B.) My overall favorite ink, J. Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite. The Rouge H. again with (the reverse side of) a sheet of Crane & Co. triple hairline My Faber-Castell e-motion in pearwood, a bottle of Iroshizuku kon-peki, and my custom-made journal from Bibliographica (on Etsy) A random dip pen and a bottle of J. Herbin vert reseda Iroshizuku kon-peki, enjoying some fresh air and sunlight (don't worry, only long enough to take the picture) My Kaweco Student (underrated gem of a pen, by the way!) and another handmade Bibliographica journal, this one called "The Nomad" Kaweco Student, Bibliographica "Nomad" journal, an orange Leuchtturm1917 dot pocket notebook, and an unlabeled bottle of Caran d'Ache Storm B for me Wordsworth in red (J. Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite, out of a Lamy with a 1.5mm italic)

    Petition For Paper.

There is a petition going on to send to Crane. Since Southworth/Neenah aren't making the paper, it reverts back to Crane, to bring back the Distaff Linen paper. This is for people like me who have DEPLETED their Distaff Linen, and are noticing that there is NOTHING quite like it on the market today. I mean Crane's Crest is OK. But you find comments right here on the Fountain Pen Network, people saying the ink feathers, it's horrible for fountain pens. That's because the SIZING of the paper is not as good as Distaff Linen. And if nothing else, the Watermark. You will never find a ream of paper again, with a nicer Watermark. I'm talking about reams everybody. Quantity and Quality together in one product. Don't you guys miss those days. You won't get that from Amalfi, or super expensive, 500 sheets of Amalfi, if you tried it. All you have to do is, drop Crane an email, saying to please bring back the Distaff Linen paper. customerservice@crane.com Believe me guys, when you're done with your Distaff Linen, you will miss it. So think ahead, doing this petition now, maybe it will be brought back, by that time. But don't do it, and it may never come back.
