Hi All, I am looking for a source of old parts for Conklin pens. Particularly I am searching for a lock ring for my 50. I finished restoring everything on the pen except for this and it is getting a bit frustrating. I am trying to purchase parts pens but they go for such an incredible price for one with a decent ring that Its almost like robbing Peter to give to Paul. Hoping one of you may have some leads. Thanks -=Liamtyr
Dcribbs posted a topic in USA - North AmericaHello everyone. I've been a lurking member for a number of months now and have really enjoyed reading all of the posts. Frankly, the sense of camaraderie among fountain pen owners is great to see. So with that said, I now present my problem for some help from all of you. I picked up a Conklin LE Crescent Demonstrator in black a few months ago. Now that I've used the ink, I want to clean it and refill with a different color. Easy enough, right? Wrong. The section is "flooded" with blue ink. I'd like to clean it out but I'm spooked about taking it all apart to clean it and then try to put it back together. Now, the Yafa repair offices are relatively close to go to them, but I think this is something that I should know how to do. I've looked everywhere for a video, YouTube or otherwise, on how to clean the crescent and get into the section with absolutely no luck. So, my compatriots, does anyone have any insight on how I can clean the section without destroying the pen or having to just take it into Yafa? Thank you all for your help in advance. Dan
apkayle posted a topic in USA - North AmericaI noticed that the Conklin nib is similar in size to the Noodler's size 6 nibs and decided to attempt fitting my (newly acquired) 2009 Conklin Crescent with a Noodler's flex nib. Surprisingly, the Conklin's feed supplied the flex nib with plenty of ink to handle all kinds of flexy writing. The repair question I have concerns its ink sac. I unscrewed the section from the barrel and the crescent bar caught hold of the sac and tore it off the sac nipple. I attempted resaccing the pen with the same sac several times over only to have the crescent bar take hold of the sac when screwing the section into the barrel. Does anyone here have experience with resaccing these new Conklin Crescents?
