  1. I got a Pilot Elite that I believe to be from the 1970's/early 80's. This pen appears to be from the Korean Manufacturer with the hooded gold plated steel nib. It is EF but I have a few questions about the pen if anyone knows anything... 1. Japanese Pilots could be dated by the nib - is there a way to date this Korean Version? 2. The Converter inside does NOT want to come out and I do not want to force it if it is not supposed to come out - Is there a trick here? Is this pen a single piece? What am I looking at here? 3. Are there certain inks that I would not want to put into a pen like this - considering that it uses an aeromatic style converter - I believe this is the Con-20 but I'm not sure and am curious about a more current and diff style of converter.
  2. Hey guys, I have a Pilot Metropolitan and I love it. The only thing that I HATE about this pen is the limitation of the filling system. I hate the squeeze converter, but I hate that the con-50 has less ink capacity, yet it is the most practical converter. I don't have an ink syringe to re-fill the cartridges, so I'm wondering is there any way to custom make a converter that is a piston filling system? Or even modify a converter to fit the Metro, like a standard international? If any of you have any links on how to make your own filling systems that would be amazing.
  3. Hi, I have an old Pilot VP faceted form the nineties. It's an amazing pen but it always had a tendency to run dry when left unused, even for a few hours. I always thought it had something to do with the pen not closing correctly. A while ago, I found on Richard Binder's site a tip to fix the precise problem: switch the piston converter that came with the pen for a CON-20 squeeze converter (apparently it allows for the nib section to fully retract and avoids the drying issue). I just received the converter, and it doesn't even fit... :-( It seems to be slightly wider than the converter that came with the pen. Anybody knows what i'm doing wrong? Is there a way to fix the drying issue on these pens?
  4. After getting a Pilot MYU on ebay without a converter or cartridge I ordered 2 new con-20 for this fountain pen. After receiving I put one in place and filled it with Akkerman royal blue. I had the feeling that the converter was not fitting properly because it was a very wobbly affair but the short barrel keeps it in place. The pen with medium nib glides over the paper as a dream and after uncapping it after a night it still looks clean and writes perfect. Only the same evening after writing just a few notes the ink was gone. I think that that is very quick or the converter was not filled right. Is there somebody who has the same experience with an Pilot MYU 701.
