Suggest a wet brown ink for me

Looking for a wet free-flowing brown ink towards the golden side, but it cannot be pale, for an extra-fine Pearlette in Aztec Flake.
  2. This is still quite a rich brown, not as dark and rich as Chocolate Brown, but still a really nice shade, with a hint of red. More of a milk chocolate than a dark chocolate. Saddle Brown is a good name for it, as I remember having a saddle that was this colour a long time ago. I saw some shading because it’s a less saturated ink than Chocolate Brown. It’s drier than Chocolate Brown ink and I noticed that it dried quickly on my thick, coated Xerox paper as well as the other papers I tested it on. I experienced no problems at all while I was writing with it. It had a smooth flow with a lubricated line. II saw no skips or hard starts, and it didn't dry out on the nib while I was doing swab tests. For me it was a well-behaved ink, as well as being a nice colour. It only exhibited show through on Field Notes paper, but so do most inks. It isn't sold as water resistant, but there was a little water resistance. This isn't sold as a waterproof ink, but shows a little water resistance.Bearing in mind the review form paper I use is thick with a shiny surface at 100gsm, and I used Lamy F,M and B nibs, this ink took 10-12 secs secs to dry using the M nib.No smear after dry.It exhibited good flow and I found it smooth to write with. I saw no skips or hard starts while I did swabs and dry time tests. It is currently available in 80ml glass bottles or 30ml plastic bottlesDiamine sell it directly to end-users on their web-site.It's a reasonable price. 3. De Atramentis York Brown From Nouveau Angouleme to New York -A brief History http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/york%20braun%20flasche_zpsoy5plshu.jpg Fellow Member BSTNNYC posted a topic about De Atramentis York Brown and van Dyck Brown.... It seems that there is no review of these inks.... https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/288308-de-atramentis-brown-ink-help-needed/ Well I got myself a bottle so here we go... De Atramentis York Brown http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20Lady%20Liberty_zpsdnghd5dp.jpg If you think why on earth does Lady Liberty have a beard..... Well er.... on the original it just so appeared... Sorry I just did some line tracing (no artistic talent at all) The Colour http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20blow%20my%20nose_zpslr0bwdt2.jpg http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20Colour%20picker_zpsbef96rrp.jpg A nice warm Brown.... A true brown in my view. In example De Atramentis Wilhelm 2 is more reddish and Khaki more yellowish or beige... See ink vomits Ink Behaviour and Samplerform http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20Sampler_zpsv3rzu0rr.jpg As in my experience with most of the De Atramentis Inks this ink is very wet and smooth.... Nut also quickly drying. (eve with the Lamy B nib) Feathering is absent so are showthrough and bleedthrough. Simply call that NO-Through! Saturation is medium, but there for there is quite some shading Although not meant to be waterproof it survived my Jacques Cousteau Diving Experience for inks.... It is not a document ink so may be it does not last at 20000 leagues under my kitchen sink forever... But just have a look down here http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20cousteau_zpsrb9yjkjb.jpg Sorry for using the 5-letter mammal-seed- word to describe the whale.... But the name of this whale actually is like that https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1PRFB_enAT471AT473&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=sperm+whale.... I guess one would not bleep the 4-letter word for a male chicken just because it is also the 4-letter word for a certain "out-sticking" part of the male body Of course I do not hate Japanese people nor hate fishing trawlers... Not at all I like both the Japanese and fish and those last ones both in the sea and on my plate It is just taken from the view of that 5-letter-mammal-seed-Whale.... Though it is actually not a fish but a Mammal I can Imagine it is not a big fan of Fishing Trawlers.... no matter what nationality.... His advice EAT.... SEEWEED!l On topic That ink can hold it's liquor Writing Samples http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20Handwritten%201_zpsmiot2gpe.jpg http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20handwritten%202_zpstqkrakd3.jpg http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20Handwritten%203_zpsgcn42fiv.jpg Well there definately is shading Colour Comparison http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/De%20Atramentis%20York%20Brown/York%20vomit_zpspclslmxt.jpg In daylight and depending on what pen and paper the De Atramentis Khaki appears more Beige.... See linked reviews Mine is not so extensive.... it is one of my first reviews... sorry https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/263185-lovely-liquids-de-atramentis-khaki/ And the excellent reviewf of Visvamitra https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/279182-khaki-de-atramentis/ Availability Here is a link to the corresponding page on the De Atramentis website http://www.de-atramentis.com/Standardtinte--tinte--tinten--tinten-fuer-fuellfederhalter-/tinte-tinten-873.html La Couronne du Comte http://www.lacouronneducomte.nl is always keen on satisfying their customers. If interested in the ink you can sen an e-mail to Rik or Dennis athttp://info@lacouronneducomte.nl Too Conclude. Nice medium saturated Brown Ink. To answer BSTNNYC questions completely: According to Dr. J the van Dijck Brown is less red than the York it is somewhere in the middle between York and Khaki...But maybe I will get a Bottle of van Dyck too... As a fan of brown inks....This is a keeper, because of it's colour, it's shading and it's dod behaviour Regards Peter
  4. Dear FPN Friends, As some of you might know I am a Franophile and a fan of J Herbin... The Herbin inks have lovely colours... Most of them shade... and well.... Poussiere De Lune, Terre de Feu, Ambre De Birmanie Eclat de Saphire.... They have the most beautiful and poetic names in the world.... I bought for bottles of them last week.... Here I compare 3 very nice brown(ish) inks http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Herbin%203%20browns%20compared/Herbin3browns001FPN_zps40ed38af.jpg Merde, j'ai soif que est ce que je bois? (sorry French is a bit rusty) (Blast I am thirsty what will I drink) je prend trois boissons.... (I take 3 drinks) (lie de) ThéUne tasse du Café (des Iles)et encore... du Cacoa (de Bresil)..... Mmmmm C'est bon!!! (if you do not "parler Francais" use your imagination ) Behaviour http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Herbin%203%20browns%20compared/Herbin3browns003FPN_zps92bb3a66.jpg .J Herbin inks tend to be a bit dry.... I tried the inks in several Lamy Pens.....And they work dry dependent on what ink you use in what pen I also tried a De Atramentis Document ink in the same pens.... they were very smooth. The Cacoa de Brésil s dry but especially the Café des Iles is very dry Funnily the J Herbin Éclat de Saphir in an Lamy M nib was smoother than the Cafè des Iles.B nib Dry inks? A Problem?? No they do not have to be a problem. Yes I found the Café des Iles too dry in my Lamy pens... Also the Cacoa is dry but not too dry as it worke out nice in my Sheaffer Targa F nib.... But as a fountain pen lover you probably know about those gusher pens wich spred more inks than the niagara falls drops water.... Well this ink is the perfect way to tame your gusher pens in the most lovely way with the most beautiful of colours A further direct comparison http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Herbin%203%20browns%20compared/Herbin3browns002fpn_zps881124cf.jpg Wouldn't you agree.... stunnning colours..... you want t0 drink from the bottles Too Conclude J Herbin inks are getting a sound reputation with Fountain Pen Lovers.... they are also getting well known now... Fortunately I live in Europe so it is quite easy to obtain them... But to help all others in obtaining these inks USA Goulet Pens has a most excellent range of inks for sale including J. Herbin of Course http://www.gouletpens.com EU I personally like La Couronne De Comte a lot.... The Shop name is as beautiful as the Herbin Inks names.... Les Encres du Comte ... And anyone who has experience wiht LCC will admit that their service is excellent and Dnnis and Rik are very passionate and friendly.... but ... http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Herbin%203%20browns%20compared/fouris3_zps07136e9c.jpg Should I say more?...Just have a look http://www.lacouronneducomte.nl My Findings... Well J'aime la douce France et j'aime J. Herbin All right some inks are more dry..... But have a look at tehse colours.... LOVELY Just use the dry inks for your probematic gusher pen... It will cure it and use the others for your normal pens If you want to se these inks "live".... leave your adress in the PM I will send you a potcard.... Tu adore ces encres aussi...You will love these inks too Regards Peter
