Montblanc Boutique Glimpse ~ Visiting a Montblanc Boutique isn't always possible, due to various distance and location factors. The full range of services and products on offer makes a Boutique visit a pleasing experience. As a handcrafted Villeret Chronometer has been on display in the MixC Montblanc Boutique, in Shenzhen, southern China, after work a visit was arranged to admire the timepiece. While there, gracious permission was offered to photograph the interior, as no other clients were present. The backlit colors displayed at the Ink Bar are a cheerful reminder of the wide range of Montblanc inks available. The leatherwork from Montblanc's Florence, Italy studios, is especially impressive. Recently went to Brussels on a family trip and wanted to explore pen shops. Didn't have time to search very far but found a lovely little shop near the old centre called Le Typographe. This is their second shop in Brussels and has only been open a 3-4 months according to the salesperson. They also have a workshop in Brussels and the website suggests another shop in Paris. Small shop, open afternoons only (like many Brussels shops) with mainly notebooks and cards, all produced by themselves. Not the cheapest but some gorgeous things and the paper I bought was fountain pen friendly. They also do stunning gift boxes - sadly, only available in continental Europe, not UK, but that was probably a good thing for my wallet.... Recommended if you're visiting this lovely city.

Lamy has opened a physical boutique store in San Francisco. It just opened this weekend, and has been in business for two days. I found out about the boutique from the Goulet Pens feed on Facebook. According to Goulet: So I braved the steady downpour of rain here in San Francisco today to pay the store a visit. A giant shrine to the Safari family occupies one wall, including Safari, and Al-Star in fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint versions. The Lamy store is well stocked, and seems as if it carries the entire Lamy product line, including some pens like the Accent which I have not seen available from U.S. dealers. Display cases in the back hold the more upscale pens, such as the Scala, Accent, Studio, Dialog, and Imporium. The Aion and Lx are also in these cases. Near the entrance are inks, as well as Joy calligraphy/art pens. The store also sells replacement nibs and stubs of different sizes for the Joy. Behind the register are more inks including cartridges, and special color-matched gift boxes customers can purchase for gift-giving. I purchased a bottle of Lamy Black ink, as well as a package of violet ink cartridges. I know more visits to the store will be in my future!!! Greetings to all of the Montblanc admirers! It was the second time I visited Montblanc boutique. First visit was a mere reconnaissance. And it was limited to acquiring a bottle of ink. This time I had the intentions of actually choosing a pen for my writing needs (journal writing, drafting and occasional calculations). The atmosphere of Montblanc boutiques is well documented on this forum. The attendants are very helpful and friendly. I asked if I could try Meisterstuck nibs. Without any hesitation the manager appointed an attendant to help me. She invited me to sit at the table and took out a box of #146 test pens. A testing notepad was also provided. The paper in the pad had a tendency to feather. I had some Tomoe River and Leuchtturm1917 paper with me and asked if I could use those. Permission was granted. (The ink in the pens was Montblanc Mystery Black.) I started with the medium nib. It turned out to be rather fine. Like the fine on average European pens. Just a hair broader then Pelikan Souveran extra-fine. I decided not to examine finer sizes, for this one was on the verge for me. The tipping on this nib was round. Wetness was 5 out of 10. An ideally balanced flow. Not dry, not wet. A perfect average nib. An archetype of a nib. Very submissive. Almost no personality of its own. From pure curiosity I wanted to try the oblique nibs. The OM pen was almost dry. Attempts to properly position the OB nib led to an awkward hand posture. So I decided to leave obliques alone for the time being. Next came the broad nib. This one was much, much broader then medium. The tipping was grinded in a stubby fashion. The size felt very comfortable. But the main feature was the ink flow. Something like 8 out of 10 probably. An extremely wet nib! Now that I think of it, my writing could have been too slow. That's how those tests differ from everyday experience. You may write in a different manner. I am not against wet nibs, but this was over the head wet! The attendant told me that the nibs on #149 produce a broader line then a similar grade on #146. So now I have to decide between #146 and #149 and between medium and broad nib. I have a suspicion that the excessive wetness of the broad test pen is not typical. The oblique broad I tested was far less wet. While slowly inclining towards choosing the Meisterstuck 149 pen with a broad nib, I would be very grateful for any comments and suggestion regarding the choice. Finally a couple of images. Hey All, Just wondering if anyone has had experience getting a Montblanc pen ''serviced'' at a boutique in Australia, specifically Sydney? Do they do it ''in shop'' or are the pens sent overseas? Lastly, what timeframe and were the charges similar to international ''services''? Thanks, Tom.

Just a photo of the current display - it was nice to see some of the old WEs in stock (mostly as a part of sets). I haven't seen some of them in the flesh before. So I was looking for the "address" in the directory of the Parker pen section within the department store when I found this articles: http://www.bangkokpost.com/print/276248/ I'm wondering, whatever happened to the shop in question? Hi, fountain pens fans! I need a little help. My friend is going to go to Geneva, Switzerland and I want to ask him to buy some nibs, inks, notebooks and pens for me. But neither he nor I do not know any offline shops there. Does anyone know any fountain pens shops in Switzerland (preferably in Geneva)? I know about official Caran d'Ache boutique, but I'm interested in not only this brand. Thanks.
