  1. I do not know how 100% cotton paper will work. I am looking for something with a ivory color so I could make my own journal. Anyways I found this but I do not know if it will work well. Hopefully it should work with watermen black, noodler's xfeather and De Atramentis archival ink. Do you guys think it would work. I didn't really get straight forward answers for cotton paper, and I have no idea what resume paper is. Ive also heard things about noodlers not working with cotton. https://www.staples.ca/en/Southworth-100-Cotton-Resume-Paper-24-lb-8-1-2-x-11-Ivory-100-Pack/product_365513_1-CA_1_20001
  2. Hi, has anyone had any experience with any paper rolls that are bleedproof. I was looking for a good paper roll for practice that's extremely smooth (like tracing paper) and bleedproof for very wet pens. I was looking at drafting paper that architects use but they seem to be too see through. My next option was coated inkjet paper, but apparently its not possible to write on them due to the coating T.T Anybody have any suggestions? And yes it has to be a roll (I work very big), and not too expensive (water colour paper rolls are out of the question ) And if you're wondering, I don't only use fountain pens on it, I use large italic dip nibs too Thanks

    Help With Lamy Safari Bleeding

Just ordered and received my White Lamy Safari with fine nib from Amazon.com I realised that it bleeds slightly on my POP Urban Kraft A4 Lecture Pad (PKT5) 70gsm paper. Using stock Lamy catridge. Can anyone advise if getting EF nib will solve the problem? Is there any inks (brands) that can be recommended to make the ink less wet(?)
  4. I've recently become very interested in paper and pulp industries. My endless endeavours to finding the best FP paper really has taken me all over the globe. I've come to realise that the qualities that make a paper FP friendly, normally stem from the predominant use of hardwood pulps. When I initially came to learn, that some of the papers I very much preferred, sourced their pulp from Brazil, I became somewhat concerned. I didn't want to support any industry that was destroying the majestic Amazon rainforest. Later I learnt that this pulp was coming mostly from plantation Eucalyptus, which appeared to yield particularly well in Brazil on short 5-7 year cycles. The trouble with eucalyptus is that it isn't particularly frost tolerant, so has had limited use as a plantation crop in the USA. However that is about to change. Genetically engineered eucalyptus is here. A GM Eucalyptus that is frost hardy is about to have a very substantial field trial in the USA, and if successful, Eucalyptus pulp will become the most economical pulp manufactured in North America as well. Any thoughts? FP paper, or genetically engineered trees in general?

    Best Ink For Cheap Paper?

I use my fountain pens at work where the paper is made by Skilcraft, and other providers of cheap, crappy stuff. What inks do people find behave well on this stuff? So far, I have found that Platinum Pigmented Blue has low feathering and bleeding on cheap paper.
  6. Which is the "lesser of two evils"? I have one Webbie (140mm x 210mm - 5.5in x 8.25in; blank) with which I've not been all that enthused for all the usual reasons reported by others here and there: bleed/show/feather etc. Basically, I was disappointed that it wasn't of the same quality as the white Rhodia pad paper - you can, in my experience, apparently throw anything at that kind - broader nibs, wetter inks yadda yadda yadda. From what I've gleaned of the Leuchtturm notebooks, they're not any better. However, what I'd like to know is, to what degree are they worse? Provided that you are someone that has used a Webbie, and have experienced bleed/show/feathering (due to whatever factors: nib size/nib wetness/ink type/weather) and have used a Leuchtturm with much the same results, how bad are the aforementioned effects on the Leuchtturm compared with the Webbie? I ask because very soon I shall have need of some notebooks (3-4 of them, going on to 6-8 if/when I fill the first batch) that are of the typical Moleskine-esque black/elasticated/back pocket variety (hard or soft cover) and am wondering if it is worth it to get the Rhodia's which cost quite a bit more than the Leuchtturms. I could perhaps fiddle with my ink and nib combinations to find something that is "just right" with the Rhodia I have, but provided that I don't, would the Leuchtturms perform significantly worse? I can tolerate my current experience with the webbies, but I don't think I could if it were any worse. Thank you for your advice.

    Ink For New Quo Vadis?

Hi, All, Trying to get this to post for the third time. I've just purchased a couple of the new Quo Vadis journals with the ivory paper. I'm using a Big Red with a broad nib, fairly wet, and Noodlers Blue diluted about 15% with water. I'm getting too much bleed through (see picture below). Any ideas for a nice blue that might dry quicker or bleed less, or both? Thanks much, BC
