  1. This is a fun, diminutive-sized writing instrument, with a twist. The nib retracts. It's proving to be a pleasant alternative to the larger pens I've been enjoying lately. I can see it as a take-along pen for notes or general writing duties any day of the week. The Beena Magic was manufactured in the late 1980's. It’s available from ASA Pens. They’re sold in sets of 2 pens. Retractable NibYou turn the end cap to extend / retract the nib unit. It takes about 3/4 of a turn to complete the action. The motion is smooth and easy, if a little loose. I thought the nib might shift or wiggle, but that's proven to be largely a non-issue. Construction The brushed silver cap is plastic like the rest of the pen. It's positive and well engineered. It snaps on and off with an easy click that's crisp and definitive. There's no chance of the cap coming off accidentally. The pen takes international ink cartridges. It doesn't come with a converter. Posted, the pen is a bit smaller than a Jinhao 992 or the Jellyfish series (绘境 026). At just over 15g, it is nicely lightweight. Writing The No. 5 nib writes with a fine line bordering on medium. It's reasonably wet. I didn't experience any skipping. The pen feels good in the hand and was smooth right from the start. It's a natural for posting which is clearly how it was meant to be used. It’s hard to say how long the stock of Beena Magic pens at ASA will last. If you're interested in a bit of friendly Indian pen history, I can recommend you get yourself a pair. The second pen could make an excellent gift to a friend. More comments and photos here.

  3. Beena is a well-known brand for fountain pens in India. Here are some previous posts on other models of Beena: Magic: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/335371-beena-magic-nos-w-a-retractable-nib/ Beena 500/Lincoln: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/89413-beena-500/ V'Sign Stride: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/355022-beena-vsign-stride-fountain-pen/ When I first saw the pictures of the model called 'Antic', I was drawn to it's simplicity and elegance of design. It is a small (but not slim) pen [length = 13.4 cm, cap diameter = 1.3cm, section diameter = 1cm]. I believe it is available in maroon, blue and black colours. Cap has 'beena' and 'antic' inscribed on it. The screw-cap opens in one and a half turns to reveal a short section (2 cm long), gold-plated nib (with 'iridium point' inscribed) on a plastic feed. The pen has a "3-in-1" filling mechanism [eyedropper + converter + cartridge]. The material of the pen is plastic; it looks sturdy and solid, with good finish. I have previously used Beena 'Magic' fountain pen, and I feel that this pen is sturdier than 'Magic'. On writing, the nib is fine, wet and smooth. I think it is a good pen for everyday use. Although it is a small pen, it is not too slim nor too short. The cap posts comfortably on the barrel. Considering the cost (Rs. 120/-), it is good value for money. Please share your thoughts if you have used this pen (or other pens from Beena). Enjoy your weekend !
  4. I saw a fountain pen on amazon.in called V'Sign stride fountain pen (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B083V33YMV/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=v%27sign+stride&qid=1596206823&sr=8-1). I don't find it mentioned here on searching. It is inexpensive, looks good and writes well. Nib looks like Camlin trinity. https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/uploads/imgs/fpn_1596207116__index.jpg (pics below from amazon) https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/uploads/imgs/fpn_1596207153__41ebitoo2pl_sl1274_.jpg https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/uploads/imgs/fpn_1596207175__51w2qghxhxl_sl1280_.jpg It is a 3-in-1 filling pen. V'sign is from Beena pens. They have a facebook page. They give a catalogue on whatsapp enquiry. Other models are also interesting. Cost ranging from Rs. 75 to Rs. 1500/-

  6. I recently came across a box of this very interesting pen. Its vintage and were produced about a decade back, Though not much is known about this brand, any views or information, please feel free to add. I thought must share this with the forum and also record the existence... The pen is a full metal pen, with a shiny chrome finish. The finish has withstood the age and is in mint condition. The Clip designed after the Parker 75 Clip, with a scew type crown & bottom button. The pen is knock-off of Parker 75 from outside. Once you open the pen, it sports a nib section like the Parker 45. Probably the designer wanted best of 45 & 75!! The pen is a aerometric fill, was working perfectly even after decade + years. The pen had a Youth brand nib, which I changed to a gold plated wing-sung nib. Its writing excellent. So here are the pictures. The pen The Section the Pen opened The Nib (Parker 45!!) Please do share any other information of this brand or line up. Thanks for looking.
