  1. Was looking into this auction earlier today, namely for the BBB-nib which was the star of that show. I was willing to bid up to around $150-200 or so just for the nib as I already have two BBB-wide nibs for the 100N (one script and one dot script), sadly both without that elusive BBB marking... But yeah, wow, what can I say, last second bids show that someone really really really wanted that nib. I didn't even feel bad losing on that one (instead I actually laughed out loud a bit) even though this is only about the second time I have seen one for sale during the last 10 years. https://www.ebay.de/itm/Vintage-late-40s-PELIKAN-100N-Black-fountain-pen-Excellent-BBB-nib-FOR-PARTS/192698715278

Pelikan 100N With Factory Bbb Nib

So this happened....such an amazing nib. I have never seen a factory BBB that also had the nib size imprinted on the piston turning knob. Super flex too..... What do you guys think~
  3. Hi everyone, I'm new here and so far have been warmly welcomed, so thank you to everyone. So first, I mainly draw with my pens which is why I had to post this, most of the thick nib advice seems to be for writing. I've purchased my first fountain pen, a TWSBI 580 Al with a broad nib (a few weeks ago). I loved how thick and wet the ink came out, which quickly turned into a second pen, a Lamy Joy with a 1.9 nib. Even juicier! Love it. but.. that juicier 1.9 comes at the cost of losing the ability to draw sideways without stopping, lifting my pen, turning the paper, etc... as a side note, I do love drawing with that italic nib sideways for a really thin line, and mixing that up with the thick lines. I am kind of getting into some calligraphy (after getting the 1.9 nib) , which came as a bit of a surprise to me because I bought it to draw with. So my question is, I'm looking for an affordable round (this seems to be the trouble) really thick, thicker than my TWSBI broad nib and I can't seem to find much that is not super expensive. The one option that seems slightly thicker and affordable is the goulet broad nib. But it just seems a bit broader than the TWSBI, and because I'm in Canada, shipping across the border may make it not quite such a cheap experiment, and to only gain a little thickness. The other relevant info. paper - I've ordered some tomoe river, but that hasn't arrived yet, right now I'm using sketchbook paper (canson sketch, and a strathmore 300 series bristol pad) Ink- Diamine 150th anniversary black blue, platinum carbon black, and J.Herbin E.O.Chivor Any suggestions for affordable ROUND, super thick and wet and juicy nibs ??
  4. Seems like a number of online vendors are selling M800 BB nibs. I read on Niche pens website that they had commissioned a batch to be produced by Pelikan. It seems however, that nibs.com, writing desk also have them. Was this some kind of collaborative efforts by them, or did Pelikan listed to our concerns?
  5. Finally found a 149 with BBB nib to complete the regular 149 nibsizes. Unfortunately the tip best time is over, compared to a OBB and a OBBB it is more like a dry B. Because it will only be occasionally used , here's the dilemma. Should I keep the nib authentic and keep it out of rotation or should I send it to a nibmeister to retip and loose a part of the authenticity? A writing sample compared to OBB and OBBB ( sorry for the bad handwriting ) and some pictures of the nib.
  6. Just been looking at Iguansell website. I came across the rather handsome M625, and when I scrolled down the nib options there was a stub and italic option, as well an OB option. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is indeed something that Pelikan have introduced, or, as I think, this might be the result of the unintentional misappropriation of the Aurora nib options to this line of Pelikans..
