  1. It's January 2024 and Akkerman launched a limited Edition ink 'Out of the Blue'. For those who don't know: Akkerman is a fountain pen shop in The Hague, The Netherlands (tnot to be mistaken with the Amsterdam Akkerman: they parted ways decades ago). For some years now they're offering their own line of inks in a very distinctive (and very usable) bottle. Although there is no official confirmation (at least I don't know), it's generally thought the inks are made by Diamine. In this case I think the ink is just a rebranded version of Diamine Sargasso Sea. The only difference I noticed is that the very distinctive smell of the Diamine ink is less pronounced here. In my opinion that's a good thing: I really don't use Sargasso Sea because of it (even uncapping the pen is enough). My opinion: lovely blue ink. A real presence, without it being too much in your face. Very well behaved, wet, saturated. As expected the water resistance isn't great, though not nearly as bad as I had expected. Is it a keeper? I don't know yet, just one hour of playing with this ink isn't enough yet.
  2. Here's an attractive pink(ish) ink from Diamine Akkerman, courtesy amberleadavis! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/163/6k6v.jpg
  3. I posted this in the "Inky Thoughts" forum because the focus was on the ink in this pen. Sharing Shading But I thought other Italian pen people might enjoy it for the pen porn. Bryant calls this LE "Etruria Mila Gold Rush." It's really beautiful, IMO. David
  4. On Rhodia paper: No feathering. No bleed through. After 5 minutes, absolutely no smearing. Not tested for waterproofness. I really like this ink. I think it would work for informal correspondence. The reader would not say, "Hmmm ... What's with the red ink?" It reminds me a lot of Noodlers Black Swan in English Roses. 'Scuse me. Gotto go write some more. David Errata: The Lamy Safari I filled with Garuda Red is fitted with a 1.5 mm italic nib.
  5. I wrote directly to Mr. Paul Rutte: paulrutte@vulpennen.nl inquiring about their inks. Promptly, I received a VAT free quote from Mr. Yelle Ang, with relevant shipping charges etc. The perfectly packed carton arrived within 5 days in India and customarily sat for over a week in customs. Total time of delivery to me was say 15days. I bought three bottles of ink shipped to India. 13.64EUR per bottle plus flat 20Eur shipping, making a total of 61Euro for three bottles shipped. It worked out to 81.4USD making the cost just a little over 27USD shipped for a 150ml bottle of ink. I would buy directly from them again. Hope this information helps. Best Hari
