    Parker Dipless

Anyone have info on this Parker desk set? I'd equate it to an Esterbrook Dipless. The base gets filled with ink, the pen picks that up when placed in the base. The section has two reliefs (not three like VP or 75), one for your thumb, one for your top finger. The nib can be rotated similar to a VP or 75 nib. The section has degree marks, labeled 0 to 7.
  2. Hi Gang, Just a quick question about knocking an Eversharp Adjustable nib out of its section (or collar). The nib in question is on its way to me as part of a Doric Gold Seal 2nd generation parts pen. I think that the nib is a larger size Mk. 2 nib that could be equivalent in size to a Mk. 1 #9 nib. It doesn’t have the Airliner ink valve and so it’s either a personal point nib (as per original), or it’s been modified at some point in 80+ years, at this point I don’t know but it doesn’t really affect my question. Over the years I’ve knocked out a few nib-&-feeds and I’ve found that as the feed knocks out, the nib itself stays put meaning that the feed slides over the nib and tip. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but that's what seems to happen. For a traditional nib this isn’t really a problem, but I’m concerned that I may break the back of the nib slider and/or damage the feed as I knock it out if the nib doesn’t move with the feed, if that makes sense. Is this likely to occur, or am I over thinking it? Has anyone else experienced the feed moving but not the nib when knocking the pair out, or am I just doing it wrong? Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of the nib and any advice that you could give me would be very much appreciated. Cheers & Thanks Noel aka DuckMcF Melbourne, Australia

    Which Oblique Pen Holder?

Recently I've started thinking about getting into real calligraphy (not just messing around with my Noodler's Ahab), so I went ahead and ordered a Speedball oblique holder just to see if this style suits me...and what do you know, it does! The only problem I have is that I can't insert my currently favorite nib (the Leonardt Steno) in the holder so that the point aligns with the center of the shaft. I started researching and found out that I need an adjustable holder, with a metal flange... Now comes the problem, I really like both the Century and the Zanerian holders, and can't decide which to buy. And to complicate things further, the Zanerian also comes in a shorter version (that long shaft looks pretty thin and fragile?!), and the Century in a thicker version... And then there's the Hourglass Adjustable, with the fixed flange and adjustable by screw. I should mention that I do find the Speedball's grip to be a bit thin. Any advice will be helpful! Thank you! Edit: And then there's the very straightforward, minimalistic (= form follows function), Paper and Ink Arts Adjustable holder (PIA) http://www.paperinkarts.com/piaobl---ros.html ...I'm really not interested in ornament, I just want a holder that's versatile and comfortable to use
