    Parker 21 Sac Replacement

I recently acquired a Parker 21 that is missing its sac. The metal aerometric shell is in place, just no sac. I would like to replace it myself but can't find any info here or on YouTube about putting in a replacement sac for a Parker 21. My experience level-I have extensive knowledge of 45s but little on older pens with sacs. I have replaced the cracked hood on another 21 I bought. I have watched Danny Fudge replace several sacs on Esterbrook Js. My questions: 1) Are there any videos or guides for replacing the sac on a Parker 21? 2) Will I need to remove the hood to remove the aerometric filler? 3) Do 21s have a breather tube? (I don't see one on mine) Thanks for any suggestions and advice.

Question About 21 And 51 Desk Sets.

I'm new here and have only been collecting for about a year. I have recently got into 51s and was wondering if a 51 would fit into a 21 desk set or vice-versa? Sorry if this is common knowledge but I gave it a couple googles and couldn't find any good information. Thanks in advance.
  3. Good day, I'm thinking about getting a Ratnam 302 in the hooded nib configuration. There is a seller here in the classifieds (no affiliation) who sells them to international customers like me. I've also found that this member has been selling these pens (and also the "Supreme" model) for quite some years. The price seems very reasonable to me and seems to have been the same for years. However, I'm on the fence. First of all, I would like to get the pen fitted with a steel italic nib. I wonder if the seller can make this happen 1.1mm (or slightly larger) would be perfect. Also, if the seller says he can't procure an italic nib like that, I suppose I could grind one for myself. Could someone maybe tell me the measurements for such a nib? The other thing I wonder about is the production quality. Some of my Indian pens are great, while some others were a bit of a letdown (We know how it goes). Could someone give me something like a general statement of what to expect from this model pen? (I know, it's a vague request. Sorry) As I said, I'm on the fence.... Any kind of information would be appreciated.

Teal 21 Super Nos - Do I Use It?

Hello, Everyone. About a 2 months ago, on a whim, I picked up a NOS 21 Super, in the original box (but missing the mechanical pencil, it appears) on ebay. I haven't had a chance to look at it until just today (it's been a rough 2 months!). The pen really does appear to be unused. Definitely never inked. It's possible that the cap was taken off and put back on, but there are no finger prints on it, and there were no finger prints on the squeeze filler, either. I paid a whopping $27.74, including shipping, for this pen. Now here's my dilemma: The pen was purchased so I could use it. I wanted an older pen to take with me to work and use with permanent inks (Noodler's Black or Polar Blue). But now that I have it, I'm wondering if it's worth more as a collectible unused than as a daily using pen. What's the opinion from Parker collectors? Keep it "like new", or use it?
  5. I have a Parker 21 with a broken nib. I'm hoping some member in India will be able to guide me as to how to a replacement nib. I'm based in New Delhi and have been searching for past six months or so.

    Parker Super 21 Disassembly

I've tried everything from the hairdryer to warm water to get this pen apart, but it still somehow stays together. So, now I'm pretty sure it's NOT shellac holding it together... could it be glue??? If so, how should I proceed?
  7. I'm relatively new to fountain pens, and I was wondering if I could get some advice from the more experienced veterans Assuming working condition, one or two scratches or dings, no engraving, how much would you expect/be willing to pay for the following pens in good enough condition? Parker 21 Parker 45 Parker 51 Parker 61 and any other vintage Parker pens I missed

    First Parker, A 21 Super

Stopped at an "antique" shop in the area. Asked "Do you have any fountain pens?" and as usual they bring a dip pen. They weren't really sure what I was asking about when I said that wasn't a fountain pen. But they had some pens, which were fountain pens. There was a very short pen with a stub/italic nib but the overall shape I wasn't familiar with. So I passed on that at ($13). But there was a Parker 21. It looked like it had been someone's daily work pen. A bit scuffed up but no obvious cracks and the sac on the aromatic filler seemed fine. $16. That seemed an OK price not knowing whether it would really write or what condition it was in on the internals. So I cleaned it out with water. It had only held one shade of blue it's whole life. And it needed some cleaning, but it didn't take that long to flush it out. So I loaded it up with some Tsuki-yo. And it writes very well! The nib being so hidden sometime makes it hard for me to see whether I've got the pen in the correct position, but I'm happy with it. Especially after seeing the ebay prices for ones that have been shined up. Anyway some pics. If there are suggestions about how a pen-user, not really a pen repair person, can shine up the barrel without messing it up that'd be great. The cap has a little bit of rust in one spot, so I'd like to get rid of that if I could. Sorry I don't have a good camera, just the iPhone one.

    Parker 21 Dripping Ink.. Solutions?

Hi all, I'm a little new to Parker pens, after only having a 45 and a 51 for a few months now (loving them both). I recently purchased a 21 on eBay. The thing writes fantastic, but there seems to be way too much space between the top of the nib and the bottom of the hood, allowing ink to pool up in the space and drip out out of the tip when I move the pen suddenly. It's also dripping ink into the cap so when I uncap it and try to write, I get ink all over my hands. I've flushed the pen pretty well and there doesn't seem to be any leaks anywhere. Is there a way to close the gap between the nib and the hood? Is my pen warped in some way? I've included a picture of what I'm talking about. Thanks guys. -Alex
  10. Well, I was down in Bellingham for the Seattle Pen Club meeting this past weekend and tried a few 51s and 21s and decided to give it another shot, since I quite liked them. I didn't get on with the last 51 I had but I think part of that was that the nib was drier and finer than I would've liked. So, I went ahead and snagged myself this red 21 (last series judging by the clip) with a medium nib off eBay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/261067430896?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I'm excited about trying it again, particularly since I got one with a medium nib when the fines seem to be much more common. Wish me luck.
