Imagine you wanted a wax seal relevant to your family and able to be used by both males and females in the next generation or two. What questions would you ask yourself when attempting to identify symbols for inclusion? Assume there are no classical pieces of history to draw on (knights etc) and that the concept is commencing with this generation.

Hi friends! I've been gradually getting deeper and deeper into this world o' fountain pens since giving my first Lamy Safari a shot two years ago. I finally wrote a post on my own blog about the hobby and what fountain pens mean to me and why I like them, which necessitated some pictures. So I busted out my camera and tried to get all pretty-like with some of my gear. All of what you see below is also in the blog post. Hope you enjoy these first attempts. Hi All I was wondering if anyone here knows a place from where I could pick up a wax seal stamp or get one made to order? I am looking for a simple stamp with an initial. I live in Mumbai, India, so a shop in Mumbai would be preferable. An alternative would be a seller in India who is willing to take orders on the web or by e-mail/phone. I know I can get this off the internet on ebay or from other sellers who ship internationally to India. I did buy one from a seller based in China who shipped the item, but it never arrived. The issue has been resolved amicably with the seller accepting that the item was lost in transit. I am loath to try the same thing again, hence this query. I would really appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks in advance. Sudhir

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this years ago; whenever an idea prompts this reaction, it's a sure sign that the idea is probably genius, or at least worth trying. Even if working a reverse impression in wood wouldn't allow the same sort of precision and detail that brass or other metals permit, wood is at least treats the pocketbook gently. I think that I'm going to mount a search through my pile of scraps in the hope of uncovering a suitable length of 1" dowel. All the best, Italicist
