    Help Identifying Vintage Waterman

I need help identifying my gold vintage Waterman becuse i cant seem to find anything like it on the internet. Thanks in advance. Here are the phots: http://shrani.si/t/3W/5v/Vm8QDYN/img2002.jpg http://shrani.si/t/1X/ZX/4YiTIAGc/img2003.jpg http://shrani.si/t/1F/j8/2WJLxxSC/img2004.jpg http://shrani.si/t/47/FT/EVFyjDs/img2007.jpg
  3. I bought this carved stone bull in Mexico a few decades ago and just realized it could make a nice pen holder.
  4. Dear FPN members, I'm a 17 year old pen collector that comes from Serbia(Yugoslawia), and I'd like to ask some of more experienced members about this Waterman FP that I recently acquired. I'd be very grateful if you can identify it, and give me a idea of how much money do they go for. Also if you know, tell me the date when this pen was made. it has a 18k/ 750 gold nib, and writing on the cap says : Made in France - Placque orl. I'm thankful for any kind of help. Best regards, Nick.

    Waterman 512 1/2 Psf

Recently I discovered my Waterman 512 1/2 PSF with solid 14k gold overlay was made in at least 1915 instead of the 1908 I had thought due to the fact Waterman did not selling lever fillers until 1915. Is it possible to find out if this pen was only made for one year? Two?More? It seems Waterman doesn't have information on many of its older pens like this which I think is quite odd.

Does Anyone Know What Pen This Is?

Hello everybody! I have been fascinated by fountain pens for quite some time now and I am about to buy a new Waterman fountain pen. There is just one problem I have: I don't really have any information on it. I tried looking for it on the Waterman website, but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone here know what pen this is and whether it is worth something? http://cache1.willhaben.apa.net/mmo/1/811/967/61_1931670069.jpg http://cache1.willhaben.apa.net/mmo/1/811/967/61_1040573958.jpg

    Ideal Nib

I just inherited a pen that has a nib which is engraved, "WATERMAN'S, IDEAL, CANADA, 2." Several clues indicate it is gold, such as the tipping being white and scratches on the backside of it remaining yellow. It also has a heart-shaped breather hole. It is not original to the pen as the barrel says Conklin and Pat. Nov 17 1925. As this is the Waterman forum, my primary query is whether the Ideal nib is actually gold as I believe it to be. My secondary, bonus question, would be whether anyone happens to have a general idea what date range the barrel might be from. It is a lever-filler. Unfortunately, the cap did not accompany the rest, so it offers no clues. Any educated guesses are deeply appreciated.
  8. I use Waterman Phileas fountain pens to create drawings for my website www.TwelveDrawings.com Through my several years of buying, I have watched these wonderful pens creep up and up in price. I hear that back in France, they were strictly a school student's pen. In America, they once sold at Staples for about $20. When I bought my first one at Staples (2011) it was up to $50. I bought two more as gifts. One day, I dropped my pen (nib down onto concrete) and went back to Staples for another. The clerk said the pens were no longer made and suggested I check eBay. At that time (maybe 2012), new Phileas fountain pens were going for $70-90 on eBay. Online retail stores were listing the discontinued pens at $99+. Today, a quick check of eBay shows several black Phileas pens with an "Buy It Now" price of almost $200. The highest priced ones are black pens owned by speculators willing to wait for the market to come to them. Less costly items are typically used, out-of-box, an unusual color, or a Kultur. I have the pens I need and won't be buying any more unless I see a great buy on a new-in-the-box Phileas. If you know such a source, please share. Do you think this $20 pen is really worth paying triple digit prices? And why? Because it's THAT good? Because they are not made any more? Because you might resell it for a profit in the future? I'm okay with all three reasons.... maybe you have another one. — twelvedrawings.com
  9. I just cobbled together this nifty Waterman from spare parts. I swapped the nib out of a broken Waterman snorkel-type pen, re-sacked it and had a great pen! Then I put it in my pocket, went to work, and then pulled it out of my pocket to see the barrel was broken right behind the section. BOOM, out came the electrical tape. And then I made some writing samples! What do you think of the Black Swan in North African Violets?
  10. I came across these two on appleboom. waterman Edson emerald waterman 100 patrician so basically after removing vat(21%) for non EU members like me, and another 25% off(their special anniversary promotion using the code: congrats ) and with free wordwide shipping ...the Edson costs 350 euros and the patrician 180 euros. I wish I hadn't blown my pen budget on a gvfc gold anello but dennis (la courrone du comte) offered me a good price. anyways a good deal to had for those who have the money. not affiliated to either stores. vikram
  11. I put the V in question marks because I am not sure if I am just seeing things. I looked at the butt of the pen with my loupe and in between the number 512 and the letters PSF appears to be a big "V". Is this where the V would be if this were a 512V? Hope it isn't just an odd scratch. I am in need of an original cap clip for this pen and I also need to find out the best place to take/send the cap to have the new cap put in place and also have the cap opening made round again. It is just slightly out of round. Not enough to completely disrupt screwing it in. My issue is purely cosmetic on that one. Any leeds of where to go for this?
  12. I have a c.1987 Waterman Laureat I'd like to rehabilitate and return to service. Do these pens take standard international converters? When I look up "Waterman converter" I find two different part numbers, 56010 and 56010W. Is there a difference? Thank you, Robert

    Waterman 512 Psf 14K Overlay

I have made posts about this pen before mainly for repair information. In the research I have done for the pen I have not found a definite date. I find dates of between 1908 and the late 1920s. I never got a reply from Waterman when I emailed them about it. Might anyone have definite documentation on this pen which can be seen in the link below? This is not my pen but a better picture of the pen in question. Mine is apart right now for sac replacement. http://www-personal.umich.edu/~him/Wat14K/Wat14k_3.jpg
  14. I have a friend asking me to repair her grandmothers Waterman 452, a hard rubber pen with a lovely sterling silver filigree overlay. I can do the sac and cleaning of the pen but my concern is how do I properly remove the section from the pen to replace the sac considering it is hard rubber. Any advice is be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  15. I was unable to edit my other posting about this so I made this one. Basically I am in need of the clip shown in the image I have attached. This is the same exact cap as on my pen. I also need suggestions on where to go to have the cap returned to its original round shape as it was evidently slightly damaged somehow and is slightly out of round.
  16. Hello. My topic title pretty much states what I am searching for. Can anyone help? Does anyone have any booklets or adverts featuring those particular pens? Thanks in advance for any assistance in locating such items.
  17. The spare converter of my Waterman Carene fell on the floor and broke - I noticed it was made out of glass. I ordered a new one from a reputed online seller in Brazil, but it is made out of plastic. Can you tell me if it is original? Regards, Marcelo
  18. This is my first review here and I thought I would do a hand-written one. Unfortunately, my scanner has broken down and the images below are snaps taken with my mobile phone camera. A couple of the close-up pen shots were taken with my Nikon D-SLR and a Macro lens. I struggle to give marks, and have restricted myself to giving stars (3 stars being the best). I have also uploaded this material to a new blog I have started, on the insistence of a colleague (http://fpensnme.blogspot.in/).
  19. I figure there are a million "show your pen" threads, so what could one more hurt. Post here and show your Waterman collections, segregated by material, age, era, or however you see. But they do have to be grouped with similar Watermans. Here are my hard rubber and HR-derived Watermans, not counting a 15 PSF and a Paisley pattern 0552½V I received in the mail today. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/21/lho6.jpg Share yours!
  20. I have a pen that arrived in a pretty bad state. The sac was missing and the nipple was all gunked up and the feed was full of ink. So I wanted to see if the feed was good or not (I couldn't pull it out w/ the nib, seems tightly fit). What I tried was to put maybe 4 drops of ink into the barrel ala eyedropper style and then push the section back in. After turning it upright and trying to write with it, the ink literally poured out, leaving a giant drop whenever the nib touched the paper. I'm assuming this is because the barrel wasn't airtight. From how I understand it, eyedroppers are meant to have a slight vacuum (aka sealed barrel) which I assume helps prevent the ink gushing out, similar to how punching a hole in the bottom of a beer can, then opening the top allows the liquid to flow. So assuming this, is it ok to assume that the fact that ink flowed through means the feed on this is fine and that if I re-sac it (and thus create a seal / vacuum for the ink) , it -should- work properly? I mean, I know you can't give me a guarantee, but any advice from someone with actual experience in pen repairs would be welcome. ::EDIT:: Also, the pen is a Waterman Stalwart. If anyone knows how to remove the nib and feed, I'd be much obliged. I tried seeing if it was friction fit, but if it is, it's in too tight for me to safely remove it.

    Waterman Lid Problem

I have had this Waterman Expert? for about 10/15 years. Needless to say I absolutely love it. However, while at a meeting last week, without thinking, I unscrewed the lid rather than pulling it off. I was horrified when the lid came apart in my hand. As you can see from the attached photo the problem I now have it putting this all back together. Has anyone had a similar problem? If so is this something I can fix myself - or do I need to send it to the Waterman agents and face the undoubtedly expensive repair bill? Thanks for any suggestions
  22. Howdy guys, I just came across this in my travels: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/0dwAAOxydlFS7FC8/$_57.JPG Does anyone have any idea what it is / how much it's worth / if it's flexy or not / etc. Just a name would be fine, at least then I could start out the research somewhere lol. Cheers.
  23. Hi, I'm a pen collector that comes from Serbia (Europe) and I joined this site with pen lovers (like me) recently! I mostly collect MontBlanc FP's but I do have some other interesting models. This one is a MontBlanc 32S wih a 14k gold nib. (UP) This is a MontBlanc 225 with a 14k white gold nib. This one is a MontBlanc 372 pencil. i have many more nice pens but I didn't photograph them. Greetings to all of FPN members, and thanks for viewing my post!!!
  24. Just got my new Waterman in the mail today, but I can't seem to find out what type it is. It looks like one of the 5xx series (is that how I say that?), but has a glass cartridge. It also has a w5 nib, but doesn't look like any of the w5's I Googled. I'm feeling pretty clueless. Any guidance in the right direction would be really helpful. If any different pictures would help, I can add them. Thanks!
  25. So, I bought a new Waterman and can't identify it, but I'm thinking something in the 500 series. Anyway, I have four broken fins on the feed. It still writes, but railroads often and is really scratchy when trying to write at a normal speed. Is it easier to try and find a replacement section, or find a replacement feed? Also, the nib is a 14 ct W5. Should I be looking for a number 5 feed as well? Since it's a cartridge pen, is there anything in particular I need to be looking for? Thanks.
