  1. Hey guys! After almost a year of waiting, i finally received my grail pen i ordered back in August 2019, the conid bulkfiller regular! I made a video going over what came with my order, some of the available accessories and some general comments on the quality of the pen and how it writes. I made it to provide some insight into how Conid's quality has changed since their order stoppage, and to show you guys waiting on your open orders or are keen on ordering one when they reopen orders, what you can expect from the company! You can find my unboxing at this video link! Thanks so much guys and let me know if you've got any questions or comments!
  2. I have just seen the review of the Rotring Surf pen on Youtube. It looks like a basic pen, with a smooth nib. Does anyone have this pen? If yes, then how cool is it? Here, have a look at the full review first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEM_gAsrMm4

    Montegrappa Fortuna Blazer

The Montegrappa Blazer is a new member of the Fortuna family. A steel pen, treated with fire, to give it a unique and colorful look. We enjoy it and recorded a short video. https://youtu.be/mFrDpSmvYQ8 (I couldn't find a way to embed the video here)

    Parker 45 Demonstration (Video)

Here's a video I made a while ago demonstrating a Parker 45. It's the midnight blue model with a medium nib. I have it inked with Noodler's Navy which matches it almost perfectly. The bit-rate in the video is kinda low due to editing with Windows Movie Maker. Enjoy! I have more videos like this on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6pAl06Dx2E1WqWof7JnnvA
  5. Hi, as a pen and ink artist, I am passionate about helping others adopt drawing simple landscapes with pen and ink as a relaxing and creative hobby. To that end, I have written a complete tutorial for beginners that I shared in this forum earlier. You can find it at here I have also created videos that show step by step drawing of a simple landscape in under 30 minutes. Here is a link to a video that demonstrates drawing the following. I would appreciate any feedback on the content and presentation in the video and if this is something you would like more of to help you in learning to draw with pen and ink Thanks Rahul Link to video showing drawing of following
  6. Public service announcement: for those who don't subscribe to his channel, Dan Smith (the Nibsmith) has just posted a YouTube 'first look' video for the TWSBI Eco. A concise but comprehensive and, I think, pretty fair summary of the pen's features. Take a look if you're interested (and/or feel free to make your own?!).
  7. Here is the review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiyAiUX1ywA Has anyone tried this Pen before? I have just seen this pen on the office site of Luxor.. They say, its out of stock.. I will be calling Luxor to see if they still have this pen. If i am not wrong, Luxor sells Parker and Pilot pens in India. Who knows, they might have borrowed the technology of these companies to produce a very nice pen of their own. This review says so, atleast. If anyone can provide me the link from where i can get this pen, i would be more than happy.

    Sheaffer Sales Training Video 1943

I'm double posting this, to here and to the Pen History forum. If this violates the rules too badly, I apologize and will delete this one if necessary. I have been converting our old VHS tapes to DVD and in our very large collection I ran across one that I had gotten some years ago (over 11 at least). I don't remember where I got it but I believe it may have been someone from this or some other fountain pen forum back earlier this century. https://youtu.be/A8BiarUbUJE The video is from 1943 and is, I believe, a training film for Sheaffer salesmen. It's made by Jam Handy Productions, known for their training and industrial films. In the film a salesman expresses frustration to his boss about the number of pens Sheaffer is producing, which is not enough to satisfy his dealers. The boss then explains about everything that Sheaffer is doing for the war effort and explains why they are producing fewer pens. The film then goes on to address several other "concerns" of the dealers the salesmen works with, including quality of construction of the pens and consistency of leadership. These questions give us then the opportunity to lean about the new Sheaffer Triumph nib, Scrip writing fluid (they never use the term "ink"), and even to see old W.A. Sheaffer himself as well as his son Craig who has been running the business since 1937. The quality is not great since it's most likely a multi-generational VHS copy that's over a decade old, but it's still fun to watch. I tried searching the archives and the only Sheaffer film I can find referenced is the old 26 letters one. https://youtu.be/A8BiarUbUJE
  9. Here's a short video that I made that showcases a small sugar pine & leather desk blotter that I recently made. I use it daily for my small note writing.

Ink Into Water Filmed At High Speed

Hi, Slightly off topic, and of no earthly use, but The Slo-Mo Guys have just released a nifty video of them squirting ink into a fish tank and filming the results at high speed. Very relaxing to watch! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzkB574jivA Thanks, Max

    Lamy 2000 Video (Review?)

I made a short video for the Lamy 2000 just for fun and I thought I'd share it with you guys. The video and editing style is obviously a blatant rip-off of theimmovablemovers' viral Namiki Falcon and Nakaya videos. I prefer the term 'inspired,' but yes, it's a rip-off. The dark background comes off really grainy and awful, so I apologise for that. It looked fine on my camera's display. I hope you enjoy the video.

    Video Of Pelikan Manufacture

I just saw a nice video on the German Pelikan webpages showing how their fountain pens are made that might interest some of you here. I think the video is rather new. Check "Der Weg des Füllers" on this link: http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/de_DE.CMS.displayCMS.160593./videos-zum-herunterladen It's only available in German from what I can see.

    Nakaya Fountain Pen Shop

Hi there, The other day, I dropped in at my favorite fountain pen shop called Nakaya ( located in Matsue city, Shimane prefecture, Japan ) to take videos for the members of the FPN. Especially, I would like the members on "Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun" to watch this new video, because I believe some FP lovers here will visit Japan sometime in the future. I hope you'll enjoy watching the video that I made. Fountain pen shop in Japan - Nakaya Fountain Pen Shop - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aDlFkYhZPY Best wishes from Japan, Kota Adachi
  17. Hi All, Ok, so this is a DSLR video, not a photo, but I hope you will enjoy it, especially if you are a fan of Noodler's Dragon's Napalm. This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark ii, with a rented EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. I wanted to keep ISO low, but at f 2.8 it was a real challenge to pull focus on that moving ink drop! I guess you can never have enough light for video Still, I LOVE that lens! For those Canon users who have never tried it, I highly recommend renting / borrowing one if possible to experiment for a day. You could make some really beautiful pen / ink images with this lens, which has a lovely bokeh. For an example, see the lovely shot of the fuyu-gaki ink bottle on the Peninkcillin blog, here: peninkcillin.blogspot.ca/2013/10/pilot-iroshizuku-fuyu-gaki-winter.html As far as my video goes, I hope ink purists won't mind that I've added some unusual super powers to the ink for dramatic effect! ...continuing from the original post in the Noodler's Dragon's Napalm ink review thread..... ...I'm glad that the little ink dragon is proving to be amusing and intriguing! As far as how I brought it to life, I'm not opposed to sharing the secrets, but also enjoy that people are trying to figure it out for themselves I can tell you that it is all live action, with no animation or computer graphics. In fairness to both Segel and Cyber6, perhaps I should start with a cryptic response and say that half of Segel's theory is close to being right, and not divulge the secrets right away I certainly hope that Nathan would enjoy the clip, but I'm not sure. On one hand, from the interviews I've heard, he's comitted to creating inks with very particular qualities and properties, so I hope the fact that I've altered these qualities in attempting to bring Dragon's Napalm to life would not cause offence. I've also heard him advocate for the fountain pen as the very best practical writing instrument, whereas I've tried to build an aura of mystery around the pen and ink in this clip. On the other hand, speaking from personal experience as a new fountain pen and ink fan, it's the extraordinary that drew me into becoming interested in fountain pens and ink in the first place. It was only after I'd become fascinated by inks with amazing colours and names like Dragon's Napalm that I realized that a fountain pen can also be a practical, reliable and satisfying everyday writing instrument, if that's what you want it to be. The extraordinary colours, amazing names and fantastical label artwork of Noodler's products make me think that Noodler's appreciates that fountain pens and inks can be practical and extraordinary at once, which is part of their unique appeal. I hope I've captured some of this spirit in the video. Guesses about how the ink dragon came to life are welcome
  18. Hi there, I’ve just finished editing and uploading the new video about a fountain pen on my YouTube channel “VirtuThe3rdTV”. As you might know, this is the last video for FPN. Please click the URL below, and you can watch it on YouTube directly. - Masters of The Fountain Pen - Beautiful Japanese Kanji writing by 8 masters with special footage! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAyRvM0ILrE video capture 1 video capture 2 The series of “Masters of the Fountain Pen” is over. As I’ve done uploading all of the videos, I’ll get downtime to restore my "Get up and Go" mode for the time being.(I mean, I remain a member of the FPN.) Now, I feel really happy to have met so many friends on FPN. I have to express my sincere gratitude to administrations of the FPN, however, I don’t have words to describe my appreciation to them. I can never thank you enough… Anyway, I would like to thank you all for your posting hearty comments and watching my videos on my primary topic. Hope we can get together sometime on “Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun”. See you again! Best wishes from Japan, Kota Adachi [ 安達功太 ]

  20. Hi there, I've just uploaded the new video about Nakaya on my YouTube channel. Please enjoy watching Japanese craftsmanship if you are interested in it. Have a wonderful week, VirtuThe3rd Nakaya Fountain Pen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQD9cA7dbXQ
  21. I just would like to let you know that I went and did it, started this new hobby! I bought an FPR Dilli Flex, Serwex 1362 Stub, Muji lookalike notebooks, Parker Quink Black and a complementary Serwex 101 pen from FPR! Here's a video I made and would like to show you guys. What do you think of me creating a video review on these things from a beginner/student's perspective? BTW, how do I embed the video? A bit new here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RysFkiEU48g Edit: Never mind, you just paste the link, huh
  22. Inspired by carretera18's First Handwriting Video, I decided to post my first attempt at filming my own handwriting as well. I recorded this last month and I probably have a thing or two to learn about the best way to show writing in action (without being in a very uncomfortable position). I used a Gorillapod tripod with a Panasonic LX-3 compact camera, placed between my chest and my writing. I'll have to experiment a bit with height and angle, and perhaps sometimes a wider view would be good as well. Or a view from the opposite direction, so posture and motion become better visible. One thing I noticed while recording, is that knowing it's on camera affects my writing, and perhaps more so than the physical obstruction caused by the equipment. Also, the lines the EF nib produces look a little fatter on screen than in real life Enjoy!
  23. Hi, After seeing some very nice penmanship video here and on the Internet I decided to try my first video. I tried it with my Esterbrook J with 9128 flex nib. Hope you enjoy... comments are welcome [video=youtube] Original post at my blog
