    Parker Ingenuity expirience.

The Parker Ingenuity has been in the market for a few months. On the web, it looks nice but expensive. Has anyone had the opportunity to use one? Are there any faults in the construction or design? Thanks for your comments.
  2. I have wanted a snorkel filler pen but poorly maintained vintage pens have made me wary of purchasing them online. Does anyone know reputable sellers ( in India ) who offer vintage pens? If so please share your experiences along with their contact details.

Vintage And The New To F.p

hello everyone! i am a guy from new york state. i recently joined your lovely forum because i purchased my first fountain pen 50 days ago(appx) a jin hao and quickly became obsessed! an ahab and F-C emotion quickly followed. so now i am turning to the vintage world, unfortunatly i do not have time to sift through the endless wealth of knowledge present here. I know i want a super flexy gold nib i keep reading about, but i dont know where to start! i have looked on ebay and well any of the nicer pens quickly go out of my price range, buying new is not an option and i dont know enough to buy vintage without getting beat on an old pen that does not work. i can spend around 100$ and want a friction fit nib. (i hate that they make nibs brand specific) can anyone help me out here?
  4. So, I'm going to use the Pilot Metal Falcon as the example for this considering it's by far my favorite fountain pen. About 6 months ago I purchased a used one off of Ebay for 158.00$. They are about 240.00$ brand new. Whoever previously owned the pen either didn't use it very much at all, or they took excellent care of it. If i were to show it to you when it arrived (and even now) and told you I bought it brand new, you would have been lying if you could claim to tell me you knew for a fact it was used (without *extremely thorough* visual evaluation). When I bought this pen there were only 3 colors available but now there are about triple that, so I decided that eventually I want to have one in every color. The thing is, I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, and it's a rather expensive pen especially for myself, and had I purchased the pen brand new and then decided to sell it on Ebay or elsewhere 6 weeks later I wouldn't get anywhere close to the 240$ I would've had to pay for it even if I never even touched it (other than opening it). So, I'm almost wondering why I'm even asking the question considering that the answer seems rather obvious to me, but....... If I want to collect these pens not only as a hobby but as a sort of asset, should I always search high and low for the best price and ***ALWAYS*** buy used fountain pens? Also, if the answer to that question is as obvious as I assume it is, I have an additional question that I could use some advice on: Is there a way to know what a good deal is when buying a used fountain pen? The example pen I used I purchased for ~66% of the price I would have paid had I purchased a brand new one. That sounds like a good deal, but I had absolutely nothing to compare it to as it was literally the only use Pilot Metal Falcon on Ebay at the time. Thanks in advance for any input. =)
  5. Hey there, I'm going to buy a Lamy 2000 most probably (https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/326594-decent-capacity-first-gold-nib-fountain-pen/page-2?do=findComment&comment=3906816) and I have some extra money remaining with me. So I was wondering which pen should I get, the Pelikan M215 lozenge or the Diplomat Excellence A (steel nib). Both of them are used pens and both are in Medium nib. I am getting M215 for $61 (INR.4000) and Diplomat for $38 (INR.2500). Which one of them would have a smoother writing experience for everyday use?

    New Used Pen

Well I pulled the trigger and bought a used montblanc 146. Others on board & elsewhere all felt it was legit. Seller says it was cleaned and stored dry but I am unsure how long it was stored. So now my question: what if anything should I do with the pen prior to filling it with ink? It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I of course want to write immediately but want to make sure I don't screw anything up. Thanks so much for any words of experience.

    Help With Waterman Warranty?

Hi all, I'm pretty new to the fountain pen world, and I've started gentle (Noodler's pens, a starter calligraphy kit, some Jin-Haos) and I've decided to make the Waterman Carene my first (more) expensive pen. I've found some good new in box models on ebay but they don't have the Fine nib I want - I was wondering if anyone knew if the Waterman warranty and nib exchange service only covers the original buyer or if any owner of the pen with the warranty booklet was covered for service? Secondarily, if anyone on here is looking to sell a Waterman Carene with a Fine nib in good condition for ~$150 used I'm quite interested
  8. I'm hoping to purchase a pre-owned Montblanc fountain pen for my mother as a Christmas gift. I've been doing some light research since yesterday, but this is a topic I know very little about. It should be noted that she also isn't a collector by any means, and I think also isn't particularly knowledgable about pens. But I noticed her admiring someone else's Montblanc a few weeks ago, and I think it would make a neat gift. Because of that, she's not likely to be nit-picky about smaller details, and an overall nice feel is what's most important. I'd like to stay under $200 if possible. Based on preliminary research, it seems like a pre-owned 144 might be my best bet. I'm reluctant to buy one from eBay because I know I would have a difficult time spotting a fake (as would she, but obviously I want to get her the real thing anyway). I found a 1998 144 online for $189, which seems like my most promising lead at the moment. I'd love to hear any thoughts or suggestions on this. Thank you!
  9. I already posted in the Montblanc forum, but I want to ask this question here as well because I figure this section probably gets more traffic. Note: I realize that many people might be likely to suggest other, more economical brands. I fully understand and am aware of the reasoning. I am looking for a Montblanc specifically though, as that's the brand I overheard her talking about/admiring.
  10. Hi there! Greetings from Switzerland...I said Switzerland - not Sweden! :-) I am a passionate and avid collector of mainly FP's since many years. In two weeks I'll launch my new website 123stylo.com, and I thought I could share the news to the american continent. This boutique will have around 50-75 exceptional pieces, as we believe quality is essential over quantity. It will be dedicated to highly sought-after vintage & rare collectibles FP's from all around the globe, with the presence of manufacture Fps from renowned Italian, French & Belgian artisans in very very limited editions. I will for sure update TFPN once a week what's in stock, as we are shipping worldwide. Can't wait to have your feedback & thanks for hosting such a nice place!
  11. Before I got into fountain pens, I absolutely hated them. I had always like pens, pencils and stationery. My favourite was the Pilot G2 when I had first used a fountain pen. The first fountain pen I had ever used was a "cartridge pen" from Tesco: http://images3.mysupermarket.co.uk/ProductsDetailed/78/284178.jpg?v=4 It was terrible. Ink dropped out of the nib, the ink colour was washed out and it feathered and bled through and paper. (Recently I discovered that the pen and ink bleeds and feathers on Clairefontaine!) From this experience, I thought all fountain pens were like this. I had no idea there was such a vast range of fountain pens and how much they cost. A few years later, I was given some money as a gift, so I decided to get a Parker (my mother praised Parker a lot, and she wasn't even a pen enthusiast). I got a Parker Jotter ballpoint after doing much research. It was the most expensive pen I ever had, at £6. Some time later, I discovered Uni-Ball Jetstreams- the best ballpoint you will ever use. After that discovery, I got really into pens. I was into ballpoints, rollerballs, gel pens, felt-tip pens, but not fountain pens. I still thought they all behaved the way the Tesco pen did. When I saw prices of fountain pens, I couldn't believe it. They were enormously more expensive than regular pens. I also discovered bottled ink online, and my interest grew a bit. What made me want a fountain pen was a small stationery shop. I was in there when I saw a few fountain pens and bottles of ink. Suddenly, for some reason I really wanted a fountain pen! I did some web-surfing and discovered that fountain pens were awesome! After loads of research, I decided I wanted a Lamy Safari with a converter, and a bottle of Diamine Oxblood for Christmas. And that's how I got into fountain pens. Sorry for the long post. Here's a aesthetically pleasing pen: http://www.conwaystewart.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Churchill-Bracket-Green-FP.jpg
