This past March when I was ordering Style Dee inks, I make the shipping more reasonable I needed another ink. I decided to give this pink a try. I don't have many pink inks. So it got added to the collection. It's probably one of the few that won't remain. There's nothing wrong with the ink. It's a bit drier than other Sailor inks, but probably a somewhat normal dryness compared to other brands. I don't even mind the color, it's a pleasant bubble gum pink. What offends my senses is the neon quality this ink has, so though Sailor used a fluorescent dye in the mix. It turns a perfectly nice ink into something odious in my estimation, which after all may not count for anything at all. If you have a big broad nib, or one of those highlighter nibs, this could be just the ink for your markup endeavors. This ink is pink highlighter marker bright. The color in this ink represents a pink path near one of the watercourses in Osaka. I suspect the brightness is there to capture or represent the sunlight striking that path, making it quite bright and brilliant. The ink is perfectly legible, not light at all. There's no sheen that I can tell. I didn't test water resistance. It is shady on the right paper. This ink can be obtained through any of a number of forwarders in Japan, where basically they buy the ink for you, have it shipped to them, and they ship it to you. Most of these Japanese shops only ship within Japan. So there are extra costs in trying to obtain these kinds of inks. But at least you don't have to travel to Japan and walk personally into the shop to buy an ink.

This is another of the Sailor shop-exclusive inks for the Style Dee shop in Japan. I'd bought a bottle of this earlier in the year, and wasn't sure if I was going to like it. But it turns out it's a favorite of the green-leaning blues. It really is like looking at the waters of the old Horikawa canal in Osaka. The text says it's a "jade green", but to me it's a very green-leaning blue, so folks might call it teal, but this isn't a very bright color. Still very pretty and nice. With various surcharges and shipping, it probably cost about $35/50 ml bottle. I think shipping to the US has gone up some. But that's the price we pay to get the rare inks we love. Fairly fast drying on more absorbent papers, but dry times on Rhodia seem OK. There's red sheen on Tomoe Rive paper. Excellent flow and lubrication. The Kobe #36 Sakae-machi Indigo seems lighter, and more neutral, and with more blue. A bit like Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo, but this one has a bit greener cast, and is more pure of hue. Maybe even a little similar to Sailor Yama-dori, but they are clearly and distinctly different.

Another ink sample from Japan sent by a friend. I've picked up a few of the Style Dee shop exclusives, and given that I appreciate blue-black inks, this is definitely one of them. The ink is in the similar hue as the Sailor Joyful Honda Tanigawadake Blue but much darker. Maybe a little darker then Sailor Kobe #38. Again, no real shading on many papers, but the better ones like Tomoe River or Rhodia have some nice shading. On Tomoe River there is very distinctive light green sheen especially on periods, the dots above the i, etc. I can easily imagine walking through this district at night, with many other folks, and seeing the bright lights of the shops. Oh, here is a nice little udon noodle shop, let's stop in... Hopelessly romantic, that's me. The image here on the MvL and Tomoe River once posted to FPN looks almost just black. That is not the way it looks in reality. Even in Preview there's some of the character there. This Edison Premiere is one of my wettest pens, so you'll probably get more interesting writing in something not so wet.

Sailor Style Dee Delta "Water City" Tsuyuten Murasame (Purple Rain) I have to say I'm not completely sure of the English translation for the name of this ink. Perhaps one of our Japanese FPN friends can illuminate us. Recently one of our Japanese FPN members pointed out some Sailor bespoke inks from a shop called STYLE DEE in Osaka with a brand called DELTA Original Ink. I was confused because there is also an Italian pen maker called Delta with a few inks available. But these are real Sailor inks. The inks seem to go along with an inexpensive demonstrator pen ¥4,300, and unfortunately I didn’t put one in my shopping cart. There were originally four inks, based on the seasons of Osaka. “Water City” Umeda Yasei (Umeda Night Blue, a deep blue, perhaps a blue-violet) “Water City” Doujima Ryokkin (Doujima Green-gold) “Water City” Nakanoshima Shunryoku (Nakanoshima spring green) “Mizuho” Kitashinchi Beniya (Kitashinchi Red Sea, a burgundy or wine hue) The two latest inks released August 2016 are “Water City” Sonezaki Teuteu (Sonezaki Orange, a burnt orange) “Water City” Tsuyuten Murasame (Purple Rain, a purple or violet) These inks are the same price as other standard Sailor bespoke inks at ¥2,160 per bottle, which is about $19.10 US as of today (2/11/2017). This price doesn't include shipping to the destination or any charges incurred using a forwarding service. Each person is limited to purchasing one bottle of each ink. Recently I was able to obtain three of these inks: the burnt orange, the purple, and the green-gold. I was very lucky with the Doujima as the shop said this ink was sold out, but when the purchaser went to buy the inks, there was one available. I don’t know the availability of the earlier inks, so there’s no guarantee that any of them are available, but I think the two latest inks released may be available. Camera: iPhone 7 In my handwritten review I note this ink seems similar to PV19, Quinacridone violet. This is a very lovely purple color, not super bright per se, but not at all dark like Ink of Witch, or other purple-blacks. I don't have anything like this, but I'm certain there must be something similar. There is green sheen on Tomoe River in artificial light. I was a little worried that the ink might stain the barrel of my Belmont but that didn't seem to be the case at least after a few days. I'm pretty happy with the way the ink wrote, no problems at all. Don't trust it to be water resistant if that's important for you.

This is yet another murky green. It seems to me one of the murkiest greens. I don't have every murky green ink, but this one is quite greyed down, more so than KWZI Green Gold. In a way it's somewhat like KN Tanna japonesis, but more greyed than that. Maybe this isn't a color that many would like, but it is pretty good to me. But I'm not the Mother of Murk, so this isn't a definitive statement. The ink didn't exhibit hard starts, etc. It's not water resistant. It didn't like the inkjet paper that much, at least it wasn't very interesting there, losing much of its good qualities. No staining on the barrel of the Pelikan observed. In Japan this ink may be available. Outside Japan, it may be obtainable, but the cost and effort will deter most. There are many murky green inks available, often at reasonable prices. I've learned that this kind of orange, what some might call burnt orange, really is quite delightful. Typically it's a bit deeper in value than many oranges, not so bright, so it's quite readable. This particular ink is in between Diamine's Cult Pens Deep Dark Orange and the Kyoto TAG Kyo-iro 04 Higashiyama Moonlight. I'm finding it to be really yummy; it's a nice rich color; very shady.
