    Two Revivals

After being frustrated again by my Waterman Laureat, which may or may not one day revive with a hard to find metal top Waterman converter, I turned to one of my old and much abused Parker Sonnets; this dates from my zero tolerance or patience days, one of them has a broken feed inside the section, for which I am not proud... So my expectations where pretty low. I gave it one last try, managed to salvage one of the nibs, got a converter from a friend, put some Orange Indien... And it works! But since that ink came out awfully pale, I gave it a try with Myosotis, which had never come out the way I thought it should... Perfection. Flows great and it looks distinct from my other blues. Ok, so the poor nib requires good paper to shine, but it's smooth and the ink shows what to me is it's proper colour... Happy days. Myosotis looking good:

    Nibs?

So a while back a fountain pen fell into my hands and it worked fantastically as far as I was concerned as having never used a fountain pen. Unfortunately one day I dropped it and the tip of the nib broke off. I have decided to scrap the idea of buying a new nib. I have a parker sonnet 10 or 7 (can't tell the difference), it cost around 100 dollars, and a replacement nib costs around $114-140. Bottom line, what is a good fountain pen to replace the sonnet? 4 requirements: Smooth and wet writing Sleek and simple body around $90-$150 Flex Oblique or stub nib

Is Noodler's Ink Good For Sonnet?

I did use Noodler's ink for a very short time. Therefore, I'm not an expert on it. I heard that Noodler's inks are very good since I heard about it everywhere. Is it OK if I use Noodler's ink (maybe I'll buy blue) on a Parker Sonnet? If yes, which blue do you recommend (which do you like the best)? -William S. Park

    Montblanc 90Th For Sonnet Lover

I'm am seriously considering the Montblanc Meisterstuck 90th anniversary fountain pen. I found out that I exactly have 3 choices: 149 Classique LeGrandI do not know which one is the best for me! If what I heard is right, the only difference between these three is the size. Which one of the three is the closest to the Parker Sonnet in size? (The size of Parker Sonnet is perfect for me) Thank You, William S. Park EDIT: Typos
  5. Hi folks! noob here to Fountain Pens. I've got four (well, I lost two, and am super super upset about that, but whatever). Anyway, I have a Sheaffer VFM and I just got my Parker Sonnet matte black F in a few days ago. I've been writing with it a lot, but it skips wayyyyyy too much for a $100 pen. I got it through amazon, so I'd assume it's legit, though I suppose it could be fake. Anyway, it's smooth as butter when it writes, but there are often a lot of skips when I write with it. I tried flushing it with a dish soap mixture through the converter a few times, and also i tried to clean the feed with the same soapy mixture. I'm using de atramentis atlantic blue ink in it. here's a pic of how it writes. any ideas why it might still be skipping? i'm really upset about it because i love the pen and really want it to actually write.

    Sonnet Feminine Collection

Finally, I collected the Sonnet Feminine collection's fountain pens. They are really beautiful. Personally my favorite one is the Metal and Pearl one. I think Parker should embrace the thoughts of refreshing a bit the Sonnet line, add more fun colors.... Till that here they are, in they perfect beauty. They are writing like a dream. Sadly I not have a good enough technology to capture them in the better way. The Pink Gold with the PVD coating is challenging task to capture... But in the real life its a real beauty as like its sisters.... http://i57.tinypic.com/t9k5df.jpg

    Fake Parker Sonnet?

I bought a Parker Sonnet from Staples about a week ago. I read that the sonnet is one of the most counterfeited pens. So, I compared my sonnet's nib to many photos in Google, and I realized that it's was different. The photos in google had the word "18K" below the word "Parker." But my nib doesn't have the word "18K" anywhere in the nib. Instead it had the letter "F" on both sides of the nib. Possibly fake?

Have Parker Nibs Changed In Size?

Hi everyone, This is my very first post. I apologize if i ever make horrible grammatical mistakes, English is not my first language (i'm French). I've been reading topics on the FPN for several years but only decided to register today as i've just received my first vintage pen and i have a few questions about it. I checked the pen and all "fake guides" out there and i do think mine is authentic. However, the nib makes me question my conclusion. It's a medium nib (18K/Rhodium) from a pen that - i believe - was made in 2002 (it's marked "A."). The problem is... i find this nib to write much smaller than a newer Sonnet (23K plated) that i own that has a medium nib too. Here's a pic - i'm using the same ink in both: So, i was wondering if there were variations in Parker Sonnet nibs sizes? Or is it an indication that my pen is counterfeit? I also find that the nib on the vintage Sonnet is a little bit scratchy on paper compared to my newer one. Thank you for your help!
  9. This is a review of the older Parker sonnet 18k medium nib (1994). To begin, I need to say that this pen, even if it is almost 20 years old, works perfectly! I am not the first owner of the pen but I can imagine that this pen is very durable and consistant through the years. The nib and feed unscrews very easily for cleaning which is very gret. One more thing before I begin : IT IS VERY WELL MADE.... I mean, all the parts very precisely fits in place, we can feel a certain quality. The look : To be honest, I really like this pen, it is very classy, very beautiful, although it is simple. The finish is pretty shiny and according to me, the dimensions of this pen are just perfect : does not look too slim, too big, to short etc. The nib : This is my favorite part of this pen. 18 k solid gold nib : quite flexible, sprigny and gives a good feedback. Not scratchy at all as you could expect from a pen like this one. In addition to this, it is beautiful with the small engravings and enough details. VERY pleasant to write with. The ink flow: My Sonnet is pretty wet I would say, not too wet but just how I like a pen to be. The flow keeps up very well. On the other side, there is one thing I really need to mention : when the nib flex, the ink flow, sometimes does not keep up, so it tends to RAILROAD which can be a litte bit disappointing sometimes. Weight and balance : The Sonnet, which weights about 27 g, is perfectly balanced and is very comfortable for long time writing. I personally like to use it posted. You don't have to worry about this aspect of the pen ! Finally, I would recommend this pen for everyone ! In my opinion, it is a very good pen that suits all my daily needs in terms of writing. Then it always depends of how much you pay for it... But if you can get it for cheap ( like me ) get it! I'm not saying that it is a bad thing to buy it at full price (the new version which is a little bit different) but in this category there is a lot of great pens too... But I hope this review will help to make a choice ! Sincerely, FAF ***** Please know that english is not my first lenguage and I am quite new to the fountain pen world... I don't know everything. But I am very open to all yours comments !

Who Can Fix A Bent Sonnet Nib?

Hi, This is my first actual forum post, so I apologize if I'm doing it wrong. I foolishly allowed someone to borrow my 2011 Parker Sonnet Ciselé with an 18k medium nib, and they dropped it. It landed on the nib and bent the tip towards the feed. I'm looking for advice on who to send it to for repair? Or if I should just replace it?
