  1. I recently saw for sale some Esterbrook "J" family mechanical pencils. The model names were given as "PJ" for one and "TJ" for another. The plastic appears like the pretty "J" fountain pens. I am aware that they take different lead sizes. My question: do the barrels of these pencils have the same diameter/thickness? Do they match the diameter/thickness of the "J" fountain pen, or of the "SJ"/"LJ" pens, or are they some other size(s)? If there's a reference for Esterbrook J-family dimensions, kindly point me at it. Thanks.

    PenBBS calligraphy nib sizes

This morning I was shopping Etsy looking at PenBBS products, and J stumbled upon their 14K gold nib line. At just $115 for a whole nib/feed unit that’s almost as swappable as a TWSBI it looks pretty enticing, but I cannot figure out for the life of me what the numbered calligraphy sizes mean. There are calligraphy nibs numbered 1, 2, 4, and 15, but no real explanation for what that actually means. (The others I understand, F, EF, and RF). Finally, if anyone has experience with one of the gold nibs, how does it compare to the standard steel ones?

    What nib to get

I'm planning on geting a pelikan m200 as a step up from my pilot mr (metropolitan) with a M nib. I want the pelikan nib to have the same line width as the metro (or at least not fatter), but I don't know if I need a pelikan fine or extra fine. Of course I will test both sizes when I get a chance, but I would appreciate your help.
  4. A very simple comparison of three Sailor nibs. My new M arrived and it seems to want me to hold the pen at a more specific angle to the paper than Sailors usually do, but I hope that is just because it needs to be broken in. I am pleasantly surprised by the precision of the line with this medium nib:

    Newbie Question.

I have just bought my third MB Meisterstucks fountain pen. I own a 145 Chopin, a 1940s vintage 344 and I have just acquired an early 1990s fp. The problem is that I dont know what model it is! It is definitely genuine though. It bears all the indications of a genuine MB. It is slightly shorter and slightly slimmer than my 145. I had a look through the pinned posts, but none of them helped. Do any of you more experienced MB owners have an idea what it might be? It is a cartridge and converter filler, and the converter is marked Montblanc. On the clip band it is stamped Germany, hence my thought that it would be post unification. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Tiny Nibs - M200 Ef Vs P200Ef

Before I ordered my M200 Brown Marble, I looked in my inventory program and realized I only had one small Pelikan Extra Fine nib. It is in a P200 though. I LOVE that little pen and it is always inked. I use it every week. The only finer nib I own is in a Platinum Desk Pen. So I ordered the Brown with an EF. Lovely writer, smooth, not scratchy, crisp line. But... I didn't think it was as fine a line as the little cartridge pen. Got the loupe out to see. Indeed. There is EF and then there is EF. I expected some nib difference between a piston pen and a cartridge pen, and perhaps two years is a long time in a nib factory? So here you go, a couple pics to show the difference. Not exactly "blobby", but the M200 on the left is a different point. I like it a lot. But for Extra Fine bragging rights, the little P200 is still my finest "out of the box" Pelikan.

    Vintage Waterman Nib Sizes

Hey there, I am looking to purchase a vintage Waterman nib for my Waterman 52 BCHR. I will be reffering to nibs found on this page: http://www.nibs.com/vintage-waterman-fountain-pen-nibs.htm Previously, I had a nib identical to Item # WNV-183 in it, which is a Waterman U.S Pat. Off #2 Semi flex nib. I was wondering, if Item #WVN-1, the #2 Ideal New York flex nib, would be able to fit in the pen. I would assume so, given that Item #WVN-1 measures 25.4mm in length and 6.0mm in width, while Item # WNV-183 measures 25.1mm in length and 6.1 in width. However, I would just like to ensure that this is the case. Edit: I also emailed sales@nibs.com for an answer two days ago, but have yet to receive a reply :/
  8. I am a bit confused. Are these the same size cartridges or is it they messed up with words? - One says "International Size" AND athe other one only says "Standard". No International anywhere... One is G302BK, the other G306BK I would very much appreciate information so I can stock on cartridges until I get a fine fountain pen that I can use with a converter. Is there a place where the length of the different sizes of cartridges is specified? I have seen lots of videos on how to use cartridges and converters, but I cannot find a single video where I could see someone measuring cartridges or explain the differences. I am solely interested on the "standard sizes", not proprietary cartidges. Once I can understand the sizes I can place an order. Thank you. I know I will have some answers. Thanks in advance!

    Duofold Centennial Vs. International

Hello! How can I tell what size a 90s Duofold actually is? Centennial or International? Thanks in advance.
