  1. Hello FPNers - I’m searching for a burgundy ink that tends more toward purple than red. Purgundy? Burple? I like wet inks that are highly saturated, rather than milky or murky in appearance. Shading is nice, but not required. Thanks! GNL

    Preventing Ink Smudging?

Hi! So I have more...well oily or sweaty hands. So occasionally when I'm handling old pages with heavily saturated inks like, KWZ IG Turquoise, Diamine Sargasso Sea, even random inks like Noodler's Apache Sunset, I'll find that the ink has transferred to my hands and has smudged all over the pages. Back in highschool, I vaguely remember my art teacher (been graduated for 4 years or so) teaching us a trick to prevent ink or graphite smudging. I think it was like spray hairspray over the page? I'm not sure. Does anyone know any thing that can be put on paper as a thin layer to prevent late ink smudging?

    Low Maintenance Inks

I've bought a lot of Noodler's inks since I've gotten into fountain pens, and since then I've found they are not to my liking with how much cleaning I have to do each time I change colors. Even thought I absolutely love Bad Blue Heron and Walnut, they tend to stain my converters and a simple flush is never enough to clean out my pens. I have Rohrer and Klingner Salix and Scabiosa, but haven't become enamored with those, even though they flush out so well. I thought Diamine might be nice but then Sargasso Sea took some effort to clean out of my pen. Hematite Rouge did the same, but I'll use it because of how beautiful it is. But I want inks that are easier to clean up. I like vibrant inks, but i don't want the hassle! Can I have my cake and eat it too? What are some good saturated inks that aren't difficult?
