  1. My summer job is almost over and the pay check is soon to be cashed. I have decided to treat myself to a new pen having not acquired a new one for a while. I have narrowed down the options to two, the Parker Duofold Centennial in marble acrylic or the Visconti Homo Sapiens Oversize Steel Age. I already own a MB 146, an M800 and a Waterman Carene. I can get the two pens for similar prices and would be using them daily, taking notes etc at university. I'm drawn to the Visconti because of the superior nib and ink capacity but the Parker is more of a classic and, I think, the better looking. To those who own one or both which would you recommend?
  2. Brand new to the FPN forums after purchasing a Visconti Homo Sapiens bronze maxi with medium nib. I purchased it with a bottle of Pilot iroshizuku tsukushi ink. The biggest selling point (beyond its uniqueness) was that it seems to readily cling to my fingertips more than any other eon, and I found it easier to hold. I was surprised to find that it seemed to skip when starting a vertical downstroke, but wondered if it might be the paper (I was writing in a Moleskine).... I tried again on a sheet of regular notebook paper and the pen did not skip at all. I haven't yet tried it in a Graphic Image journal I bought. Anyway, I'm already thinking about then next one and was looking for something quality, but perhaps smaller, less expensive, and different from the HS. Right now, the Sailor 1911M looks the most interesting (possibly the larger 1911, but I thought the smaller 1911 would fit better in my briefcase's pen slots, as the HS stuck pretty far out). As the HS is my first, I have not yet tried any cartridge pens, and wondered if they might be preferred for air travel. Open to any input and suggestions.

    Visconti Issues

Is it me! Or is there an issue with Visconti manufacturing in regards to consistency of products or quality assurance of products. I brought a Visconti Homo Sapiens around end of March beginning of April from a reputable online retailer in the UK. Which had issues with flow would write then stop. I sent this pen back which the retailer replaced ASAP. Once I received this pen I flushed pen with normal water out of mineral water bottle, then loaded pen with ink. 2 days later went to use pen took off cap to find all the ink has leaked out. Inside cap all over clothes and floor. The retailer replaced pen for another, along side which I order another pen. Both shipped from Italy, I inked both pens with Herbin Perle Noire. Pulled both boxes out yesterday to use as pens are stored in original boxes in bag as I haven't found a case yet. One of the pens ink completely leaked out again clothes messed. The other pen the clip has come loose from cap which is allowing major movement of clip left to right. where as the pen that leaked no issues with clip. Both Visconti cases 6 pen holder have been faulty. First one zip had already split from leather when it turned up in post. Second case dividers did not straight down in case but heavily slanted to right ad heading into case. Am I right in starting to loose faith with Visconti as a pen manufacturer of standard? Any views? Thanks
