  1. Dear All, I would really love to get into Vintage Montblancs and have been watching quite a few on eBay as well as locally. Are there any that people would recommend? I've mainly been looking at the ones in the title, and I've also had some trouble distinguishing nib size names. I like Fine pens (not Japanese Fine), and have been looking for a Fine Vintage Pen, but I've been seeing like KF and I heard that the K stands for Kugel... But I am unsure what that means (I think it has something to do with the bounciness and flex?). Also any tips when looking at these vintage pens? Like what to look for, hidden problems, piston filling mechanisms that tend to fail from certain models, or perhaps a rubber gasket or O-ring that always disintegrates, so I'll have to look at replacing it every now and then, etc? And any tips for what I'll have to do when owning one? Just so I know how much trouble I'll need to go to to own it (replacing specific parts every now and then, or sourcing the parts, or perhaps specific parts that are impossible to find, and hence once the pen has a problem, it's impossible to fix) Or any suggestions on any other MB Vintage pens would be welcome as well!

    Monte Rosa 042 Question

Hi there. I recently discovered a Mont Blanc Monte Rosa 042 fountain pen that used to belong to my grandfather. It looks to be in good working order but it is missing the clip and the little screw on tip of the cap that holds the clip. My question is in regards to the material on the cap trim and clip. The trim on the cap on this pen is silver coloured, not gold. There is a very fine line right along the edge of the trim piece that might be sort of gold but I'm not sure. The nib is also steel but there's some gold coloured discolouration near the pen body. Again, is this wear? All of the pens that I see on-line as I search for the clip and cap tip have gold trim and clips. Has my pen been used such that gold plating has been worn off of the trim or did they also come in silver/steel? The nib has "Monte Rosa" engraved on it. The cap has "Monte Rosa" and "Montblanc-Product" engraved. The twist end of the body has "042" with a dot below the 2 and "M" engraved. The main part of the body has "MADE IN GERMANY". All plastic in cap and body is black. Any help that can be offered will be appreciated. I'm a new member of Fountain Pen Network and this is my first posting. Newbie !!! Thanks! David

    Montblanc Monte Rosa

I picked up this little beauty at a fleamarket in southern Sweden. I do however need help with identifying authenticity, age, rarity and possibly value. Thanks in advance.
