  1. Dear all, I have a Montblanc Rollerball that I want to refill with my own ink (for more color variety, and to use other inks besides Montblanc's inks, as well as use up my stock of ink.. I have too much). I looked online and saw tutorials on how to do so. Pop the tail cap off the Refill, pour ink in, pop cap back on. Easy right? However, my issue pertains to cleaning. Because I would like to change the ink color (originally black). I ran water through the cartridge and after a while it ran clear. But I left it for an hour or so to dry, came back, and flicked it, and got lots of ink coming out again. I figured since the cartridge was old it had some dried up. So I soaked it in water for 3 days. Each day I changed the water and flicked water out of the cartridge. There is always some residual black ink leftover. I noticed that the inside has a piece of felt. Although I don't have tweezers so I couldn't pull it out, I was wondering if the best way was to pull this felt out and clean it out before cleaning the metal cartridge or if there was a more efficient way of doing this. Or should I just not bother with changing ink colors?? Thanks all in advance!
  2. Hello Everyone, I know this is not a fountian pen but I have seen other visconti questions on here and cant seem to find any other resources. I recently bought a Visconti Homo Saipan through eBay and have a suspicion that it is a fake. The pen felt lighter than I remembered my friends being and the logo on the cap is a version I have never seen.(the logo makes me the most supicious) It did however come in what seems to be real Visconti packaging. Thank you for any help you can provide. The copy on the crest ready "Visconti Made in Italy"
  3. I am in the market for a new pen. I am interested in getting a Montblanc Meisterstuck and have heard good things. Does anyone here own both a Meisterstuck 149 and a Meisterstuck LeGrand Rollerball? How do they feel when writing? How is the smoothness and effortlessness in writing when comparing the 149 to the LeGrand? I draw a lot of flow charts and simple diagrams and sometimes have to write out words and have arrows and am looking for something smooth and slick. I am currently using a pen with a Pilot G2 refill and wanted something nicer in both the quality and prestige of the body and effortlessness and slickness in writing. Has anyone gone into a boutique and was able to write with a demo pen at Montblanc or do they not allow for this sort of thing?
  4. I recently acquired this Diplomat Rollerball from eBay. Does anyone know anything about it? What is the model? What is the possible value?
  5. Anyone know of independent pen turners making kitless rollerball pens (basically there usual variety of styles but with it setup to take a parker or G2 compatible refill)? I know some turners who will take this as a custom order, curious if anyone has come across one that sells them regularly. Closest I can think of at the moment are some of the monteverde or bexley pens (nothing wrong with either, just looking for variety).
  6. Montegrappa launches its most awaited and exciting collection: Montegrappa Game of Thrones. The collection features four editions inspired by the four main houses in the HBO hit TV show. The Baratheon edition is coloured in charcoal black accented with contrasting yellow gold. On the clip it features a stag's head, a stag rampant on the cap's top above the motto "Our Is The Fury". The cap is decorated by a fleur-de-lis pattern. For the Lannister edition, Montegrappa has chosen yellow gold as the dominant colour. This makes the perfect contrast with its red body. A lion's head is featured on the clip, and the cap is decorated with a lion rampant above the motto "Hear Me Roar". This time a floral Tudor Rose pattern adorns the cap. The House Stark has northern origins, therefore the edition had to be in silvery-white with paladium trims conveying winter. The pattern chosen for the cap is this time a runic symbol, finishing with a direwolf's head on the pocket clip and his profile on the top of the cap above the motto "Winter is Coming". Finally, for Targaryen Montegrappa has chosen a metallic red against a coal-back background. A dragon's head forms the clip while its coils above the legend "Fire and Blood" is featured on the caps top. The cap is decorated with a filigree pattern. As you can see all editions are available in fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball. The collection will be available soon, but we are already taking preorders! Mont Blanc Help

Hi, I'm a long time lurker but I only recently made an account here. I love Mont Blancs and have five of them, but sadly no fountain yet. I recently was using a Starwalker Rollerball I bought at a Mont Blanc Boutique in San Francisco two years ago when I noticed the cap has a wobble to it when it is capped or when it is screwed onto the back. I took it in once to the store in Beverly Hills, and they "tightened it" but I did not notice an improvement. I understand this pen isn't Mont Blanc's finest offering but the poor quality surprised me. I compared it another rollerball Star Walker I have that is much older and it has absolutely no wobble at all. What should I do to have this issue corrected? Should I go back to the boutique and ask them to reexamine it, or should I have it sent off to be repaired. I did repair an older Bordeoux Ball point that had a crack and a bent clip and for $100 they fixed it very well but I don't want to pay to have an issue I believe is a defect repaired. If any other pictures or information is helpful please let me know. Thank you, Raffi
  9. What's everyone's favorite pen/daily driver? I use a Dunhill Sidecar black resin ballpoint. Not the most popular pen out there, but sure is a beauty. Helps that I'm a huge fan of Dunhill! What do you all use on a daily basis??

Hi All, Just wanted to introduce you to the latest version of STYLOS - Titanium: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2026090977/stylos-titanium-ink-fountain-and-rollerball-artlin What makes this version special is that I've created "universal nib holders" which can accomodate a variety of different nibs from different manufacturers. And, of course, I can add more nib holders to the project in the future. Catalogue: http://metaxas.com/stylostitanium_2016.pdf warm rgds, Kostas Metaxas www.metaxas.com
  11. Hey guys. I have done some research and apparently some people find a way to fit standard ballpoint refills in standard rollerball pens. Apparently it involved using an adapter at the end of the ballpoint refill, but Im not sure if that worked for every pen. So before I go on the quest to find one of these adapters which seem to have vanished from earth, I would like to know from you experienced folks if it will fit in my pens. I have a starwalker rollerball and a meisterstuck classique. They both share the same rollerballs and fineliners refills. I wish I could go ballpoint with them. Thanks!
  12. Hi all, I'm new to pen collection & in need of some advice. Basically, I have decided more or less to get a Mont Blanc rollerball pen. So far I have a Lamy 2000 fountain pen but due to leakage it's being sent away for servicing. Here are my choices, which do you all think is a better choice? 1. The 'M' rollerball (pity this can't accept the fine tip rollerball refill which I prefer & the part where the finger grip portion is with those tiny square patterns not sure if writing long term will be uncomfortable for the fingers?) 2. Heritage Rouge & Noir rollerball (quite like the unique snake clip) 3. Blue Hour Classique rollerball (a bit stretch on the budget...) And I understand if get Mont Blanc ballpoint can use third party rollerball refill e.g. monteverde is this true for all the 3 above models? But not vice versa e.g. Mont Blanc rollerball won't be able to use ballpoint refill correct? Thanks in advance, all suggestions & comments are welcome.

  25. I'm trying to accumulate some nicer (but not expensive) bodies to hold my Pilot G-2 refills. Unfortunately, the first one came today and it doesn't quite fit, so I'm trying to determine if it can be hacked or if I need to send it back. I thought I'd ask for insight from those more experienced than I. The pen is an OHTO Words. It takes a refill that's almost identical to the G-2 refill, but the "almost" is causing an issue. There's something about the tip that isn't quite fitting through the hole, and I don't know if maybe I can drill it out? When I put the original refill (that the pen came with) in, I have to kind of push once it gets almost in, to get it to go all the way in and "seat." It's a little hard to explain; it feels a bit like when something hydraulic moves. So I'm not sure if there's some intentional mechanism in there that I'll mess up if I try to drill it out. Another potential approach would be to hack the refill, but I don't know if that's doable. You can see in this picture that the original refill has kind of a "collar" where the tip is attached to the "cartridge" area. The G-2 has that, but it also has a second "tier" of collar. I can't tell for sure if the diameter of the tip is the problem or if that extra collar is the problem, or both. Here you can see the two refills side-by-side. Also, you can see where the original refill inserts to without resistance as compared to when it's all the way in. Any suggestions? Anyone done this before?
