  1. This is a follow up to an April 2018 thread which had a great discussion, but was not labeled well and did not feature all the colors. I have now collected all six colors of the Moire ring top pens, which seemed worth a post to summarize these pens. I also have two slightly larger moire geometric pens posted here. Ads place these along with the 1920s colored pens (142 series), and they have the classic 1920s flat top style. The ends of the barrels are stamped (but not always as usual). Only my Coral pen is not stamped. N/92 = Nile Green F/92 = fuchsia C/92 = coral B/92 = blue M/92 = Ivory (my pen below has a green discoloration. The coral pen shows the ivory color better) L/92 = Lavender I have not seen ads with the M/92 color, so I will continue the name used by Moak. The pens are about 3 7/8 inches capped (give or take). They post to a usable size. Swan #2 nibs were found in all my examples. The Ivory and Coral are mirror image color patterned The blue band on the fuchsia is a lapis style blue with white fleck. The lavender seems prone to fading to gray (I showed the good side of my pen). The Ivory seems prone to discoloration or staining based on the dark staining of the pen in the Moak book, and the green tint on my pen (which had other green stains on the outside that I sanded off).
  2. Just got this adorable Gold Starry pen in the mail. Everything seemed practically pristine except the sac was completely obliterated. Took almost 3 hours to completely remove. Just ordered a new sac though so hopefully I can get it working soon. I can't figure out what material it's made of. My current theory is celluloid due to the approximate age and gorgeous coloring. But I have no idea what camphor smells like so I can't definitively say. I can't wait to use this pen!
  3. Ok, I'm not the first or the last but I'm the NOW person looking for options to wear with two gold ringtop pens, both just lovely artifacts! I have found the below options, and I may get one but I'd like more choices. I'm not crazy with the price for the sautoir you're all gonna recommend on Richard's Pens. What else have you got? I want LONG, gold-tone, strong, not expensive.... here's what I dug up so far besides Richards sautoir this and similar on ETSY https://www.etsy.com/listing/253612892/leather-lanyard-lanyard-id-badge-lanyard?ref=shop_home_active_7 and this little find... it's perfect but I wonder will it HOLD??? https://www.goodybeads.com/store/products/Z002804.htm Thanks in advance you're always so helpful. I'll post pics of one of my ringtops (mostly to gloat) here too (the other is on its way) I <3 FPN!
  4. I recently purchased a black chased hard rubber pen on eBay, with the only markings being an imprint of a soldier on the cap, and "Cadet 14K 2 S" on the nib to give any indication of what make or model it might be. I've been trying to research Cadet, and have turned up nothing but Sheaffers (which this pen is decidedly NOT) and Summit, perhaps? It's a really nice pen, great writer with great flex, and much cleaner now than the listing photos I'm sharing. I'm just befuddled by the lack of information. And hoping that someone more knowledgeable of pen history might be able to shed some light on this little guy! The listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400765394859?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT A couple listing photos: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/OTU4WDExMjM=/z/d-AAAOSwDk5UAPOo/$_57.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/1ksAAOSw-jhUAPPH/$_57.JPG?rt=nc

    Broken Lever, Vintage Pen

I have a pen, very small, that is probably best described as a ring top. Someone played with it and broke off the lever. Under a magnifier, I also noticed the 14k nib is misaligned. The body may also be gold. Can a lever be replaced? And if so, who could do work like this? Many thanks.
  6. Hello there, I just started writing with fountain pens and bought a Namiki Falcon with a fine point and some flexibility. The other day I rediscovered this little Morrison ring top pen that I acquired at a sidewalk sale in Berlin, Germany a couple of years ago. I tested the pen and it seems to write just fine but I have a few questions about restoration that can hopefully be answered here. There is information about this pen company on the internet but I did not find any technical data. 1. I need to install a sac but I also don't want to buy an entire collection of them to find what size fits. Can someone tell me approximately what size sac this pen would need (I'm just looking for a ballpark size) and wether or not the sack should have a neck? 2. Am I right in assuming that because the pen writes fine that I don't have to do anything to the nib/feed/section assembly? I feel confident I can replace the sac but I really don't have the skills yet to extract the nib/feed. 3. Is there anything else that I should do to this pen to bring it up to snuff? the inside of the barrel is clear of old rubber but it has some residue on it and the inside of the cap has some old ink but nothing badly crusted. Thanks, Scribe16 On the back of a standard business card: the Morrison on the left and the Falcon on the right (note my unrelaxed, shaky hand ).
