  1. Hello, I like any advice or hint to change the colour band for another one. There is any difference between the ones that got just the colour band and the ones with the white bands too as happen with the Patrician crown caps tops some of them got to screw them and some others just pushing by friction. Thanks in advance for your answers.
  2. Hello Fountain Pen Community, I recently bought a Vintage Fountain Pen on Ebay. It is a beautiful Ebonite in a Red Ripple pattern. The listing said: The Eric Pen. Made in England circa 1925. Solid 18cts warranted gold nib imprinted Osmi-iridium Anglaterre. As you can see it is a wonderful pen, bought it for 49$ which is a great find for me since I wanted a Red Ripple but the Watermans were too expensive for my budget. Please see the images posted below and if someone can identify better the brand and history of this pen I would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help!

    Red Ripple Suicide Pen

I like to wear my ringtop pens (a somewhat risky practice, but I don't wear shirts with pockets and it's great to have a pen on you all the time), and I wear them to work. My boss is a bit of a fountain pen fancier himself and he noticed my red ripple 52 1/2 v when I came into his office. "That's my uncle's suicide pen!" he said. Apparently, his great-grand-uncle was the brother of the actor who played Scarlett O'Hara's dad in "Gone With The Wind," but he didn't do as well, became despondent and, as his family said, "took the pipe." It appears that he wrote his suicide note with a red ripple pen, which the family still has. I'll bet that my boss tries to get his hands on it in the near future, but my ringtop will always be The Suicide Pen.
  4. I just got two pens back from The Ink-Pen, and one of them was my red-ripple Waterman ringtop. They re-sac'ed it and gave it a lovely polish that made it look like new. They also did a swell job with my Edward Todd silver ringtop, but that's for another forum.
  5. Thanks to my fellow FPNers (read: enablers), I've purchased a Waterman Ideal 52 12/V Red Ripple. From the seller's photos, it looks like a touch of polishing may be in order. What's better to use: Wenol (red label), Simichrome (which I already have, for the Esties), or something entirely different? Also, I assume a Sunshine cloth will be fine for the gold plated furniture, right...? And (since this is rolling along), what about 100% pure carnauba wax? Does that come into play? Please advise, Oh Wise Ones.

    French Pen, Possibly Swell

I won this lovely pen on eBay. The nib was not the selling factor; as you can see, it's a mess. The clip, though, caught my eye, and I've always loved the look of Red Ripple. I've photographed it against the backdrop of The Hermetic Museum's Alchemy & Mystery (Alexander Roob) along with my vintage Max Neiger Art Deco lapis lazuli and glass necklace. Lapis and lions are frequently mentioned in ancient alchemical texts, and the face on the clip is reminiscent of a lion's or that of a Green Man's. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_1189_zpsdhafgdul.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_1185_zpsvuuu8xll.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_1184_zpsivmh3bin.jpg
  7. So I was just browsing through table after table when I got to Danny Aarons' table. And then this honking big red pen caught my eye. It seemed familiar, but I couldn't be sure, so I held it up and asked Danny if it was the pen I was thinking of, a long-sold out limited edition of the Churchill. And it was! There was someone else who was interested in it as well, so I held on to it tightly and asked Danny to hold on it for me while I browsed through the rest of the show. Enough words, onto the pictures of the Churchill in Red Ripple ebonite...

Bayard No. 430 In Red Ripple

This is my new Bayard. It's interesting as the cap's clip is marked unique and depose. The nib is unmarked. The lever has the Bayard logo of crossed nibs but an E and F on either side, different from the P and F on either side of my dragonfly clip Red Ripple Bayard's lever logo imprint. The body of the pen has the worn imprint: Marque Dep. 13 Fevr. 1912 Bayard (with the crossed nibs logo but with a P and F on either side), P S F Fabrication Francaise No. 430 The ebay seller bernotte sold me the pen and I highly recommend him. Great pen at a great price, great communications, pen expertly packed and shipped quickly. Thanks for looking! http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_3474_zps2079f538.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_3471_zps96c95496.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_3465_zps4334a900.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_3450_zps5236315b.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_3453_zps75326e48.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_3458_zps19f37192.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee513/betweenthelens/IMG_3484_zps047b007b.jpg
  9. dear all, I have just bought a Sailor King of Pens in what looks like a red ripple finish similar to the old Watermans. It has come boxed with papers showing how to use the converter and what i assume is a guarantee (japanese writing on a gold/ silver flecked paper). The ink bottle is "Sailor jentle ink" 50ml in black. The box itself is dark brown wood with the insert having a gold satin material. It is not new, i have looked on various vendors websites and it does not appear to be a current model though it appears to be the correct size The nib is marked 1911 21k 875 sailor japan and is the two tone Yellow/ white. Any idea how old it is, is it correct. I will add some photographs when my son lets me get near another computer. I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May your pen collection prosper in 2014
