  1. By now I'm sure everyone here thinks I'm off my rocker, but I've yet another obscure, weird product question regarding dip pen nibs. Ready? Anyone ever heard of a Laundry nib? It says LAUNDRY NIB right on it! Hardest dang thing to write with in the world. Hard as nails and ink will NOT stay on the nib. It was on one of the holders I purchased. The shape is much like a bank nib (which says BANK NIB on it), and quite round, quite large, but...it's just odd! (Not at home, so no pic at the moment.) Wonder if Laundry is a name and it's just a horrible generic nib, lol. There are the usual suspects, the Gillotts, Hunts, Esterbrooks, blah, blah, blah, but what is the most unusual or off the wall nib you have come across and what is it like? The most recent purchase garnered me a Miller Bros. Bank Nib with a pretty key breather hole. It was unusual for me, but I must say the flex is awesome! I also have a nib I'm guessing was made for a group as it is a "Clan" nib. So info on the nib would be good...your oddest, unique nib and why would be a fun addition. ...and GO!

Help Me Identify This Visconti Pen

Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the network. Just as the title states I am in need of some help identifying a Visconti Pen. The hand written model number on the tag is hard to make out. I will include as many pictures as I can. Many thanks in advance to anyone who may have insight!
  3. Hi! Need your help here to identify this Parker ballpen... name of the edition, maybe year and price. Thanks a lot, you guys!

    Vintage Inks On Ebay

While browsing eBay, I saw there are 50+ lots of various vintage inks for sale. - Grayling
  5. I saw the picture below from Big Apple Pen Club Facebook page. From different source, I was told that they are Montblancs made in Italy prewar and offered the chance to buy one. However I have spent several days on the Internet with no luck finding any other information. Could someone please tell me more about them? I really appreciate it. [update] Thanks for all the inputs. My source contacted me again and said that the pen he has is a bit different from the picture, especially the body shape and the clip. He made a mistake there. After I receive more pictures from him tomorrow, I will update the picture here. And yes, just like some of the posts mentioned, I have thought about these maybe Omas due to the shape and the clip. These pens look pretty close to the Milord I have, especially the position of the clip. I was thinking these are Montblancs because that's what I was told. Probably they are Omas because I found no evidence of them being Montblancs on the Internet.
  6. I collected pens in a short burst about 15 years ago, gathered a nice little group of regular writers and some interesting ones, then the late 90's frenzy made collecting too expensive and I moved on. Recently I opened up my box of non-daily pens and had fun seeing what I had found way back then. One pen puzzles me as I've tried to look up information about it. It's clearly imprinted with Edward Todd on the nib as well as on the barrel. It's a combo pen/pencil and the imprint says "Todd's Duplex" [the quotation marks are in the original imprint]Edward Todd & Co. Makers N.Y. It's black and perl and is a flat-top-style ring-top with the ring missing. it's got double narrow gold bands around the end of the cap and a nice Edward Todd N.Y. 2 nib Capped, it's 5.25" long, lever filler and in generally good condition except some discoloration of the barrel where the sac was, and the missing ring at the top. I've tried to attached a pretty lousy picture, but I keep getting an error (upload skipped (Error500)). So, here is a link to where you can see it. https://plus.google.com/photos/108032537372976719434/albums/6009491603561496849?authkey=CMGziYbAmO2QnAE As I look up Edward Todd I read about only metal or overlay pens, nothing like this classic 30's-style flat-top celluloid. Anyone have any further information or examples of an Edward Todd plastic pen? I suspect they're not common, and I suspect the Todd's Duplex is even less common since I contacted a couple of well-known online vintage pen experts and none had heard of one before. Any info would be of great interest. Thanks!
  7. I've been looking for some (affordable) pens that are difficult to find outside of Japan that I might be able to look for when I visit the country. I was wondering if any of you guys had a favorite Japan exclusive that you could recommend? So far I've found the Sailor Professional Gear Slim Morita Exclusive to be one of the few I could find that is difficult to get outside of Japan. I like it though! Thanks in advance!
  8. Hi there, The other day, I dropped in at my favorite fountain pen shop called Papylos 21 ( located in Matsue city, Shimane prefecture, Japan ) to take videos for the members of the FPN. Especially, I would like the members on "Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun" to watch this new video, because I believe some persons here will visit Japan in the future. There are many kinds of vintage or rare fountain pens at the shop! I've already introduced Nakaya Fountain Pens in Matsue city where I actually live, however, I'll try to show you the quite rare fountain pen shop Papylos 21 in Japan this time. I hope you'll enjoy watching the video that I made. Fountain pen shop in Japan - Papylos 21 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqF23K-pEoE Best wishes from Japan, Kota Adachi

    A Vac-Banded Vac

i picked this up from ebay recently at a fairly decent price (considering how much they go for), and i finally received it yesterday in manila. so here it is, the vac-band vac, a major ca. 1937 (for newbies, this version with the words "PARKER VACUMATIC" engraved on the cap band came out briefly in 1937, dropped when the parker bosses decided that they cost too much to produce.) it's a big deal only to vac nuts like me, of course; otherwise it's just another pen with an extra feature (would anyone care or pay more if pelikan had "pelikan" around its cap band?), but its rarity is outstanding; i don't see more than one or two of these come up in a year, if ever, on ebay, and then the price shoots sky-high, even to four figures. the barrel on my pen (a "long major") is coded 1939, so the cap may have been switched to a later barrel, but no matter, it's the cap and band i really paid for; a couple of other issues include a small but stable crack on the cap lip, and bite marks on the blind cap (i had a spare, pristine blind cap waiting for the pen, so that part of it is OK now). http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5321/9585730727_5a51a89e42_z.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2840/9588525504_7d6185f8e4_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7400/9588526938_510c22d12b_z.jpg to put it in context, can you even spot it among the vacs below, many of them looking nicer than this one? http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3804/9588523696_4727956f3b_h.jpg
