  1. I recently acquired a Yard-O-Led Perfecta Victorian pencil, presumably new old stock from the Filofax days when Yard-O-Led products were more widely distributed in the United States. It came with the 12 extra leads already in their holding tubes. Some of the extra leads slide out easily, but others are firmly stuck in their tubes. Does anyone know a way to dislodge them without surgery? Vigorous shaking hasn’t worked. It isn’t really such a big deal, but why not "go the whole one yard" if possible?
  2. I have found a Parker 45 propelling pencil. Can anyone advise if there's any lead that will fit it? Thank you
  3. Hi All, I have a nice antique dip pen and pencil combination which consists of a metal tube enclosing two sliding mechanisms which eject a dipping pen from one end and a propelling pencil from the other. The tube, which is possibly brass (?), is 105mm long when fully closed, 140mm with the pen extended and 165mm with both pen and pencil fully out. There are no markings on the body but the nib is stamped "The Professional Pen". The nib originally had a gold coloured plating which has mainly worn off and, where it has, a fair degree of corrosion is present. The following link shows a high quality Mordan pen/pencil combination which dates to 1825. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/69693-1825-sampson-mordan-dip-pen-and-pencil The reason for showing the link is that the Mordan combination is very similar to mine (except for the silver, the value, etc). The link would possibly give a good earliest date for my item and surely it would be no later than Edwardian. Thus we have a period of about 85 years to choose from. I am hoping for an estimate to its age and also hopeful for information as to the manufacturer (is "The Professional Pen" the name of the pen or of the nib?). can anyone please help. All the best, Col .
  4. I found this pencil a while ago. Having never seen a Rotring till now, I thought the design was very distinctive. What do you think? Does it look like a clone? http://i.imgur.com/pU7aFk5.jpg The sticker says M&G AMP37201. The body is about 14cm long (the above grid is in 1/2 inches), completely metal, very solid and has good heft. http://i.imgur.com/z1ch03K.jpg Nice knurled grip: http://i.imgur.com/9fJrKsi.jpg Lead size "indicator" (doesn't do anything) and removable clip: http://i.imgur.com/6UQUA54.jpg http://i.imgur.com/my4xD4J.jpg http://i.imgur.com/RUHBKJn.jpg It's a nice writer, but I've got no clue how it compares to an actual Rotring. My best mechanical pencil experience is still this old Papermate Clearpoint, aged around ~7 years: http://i.imgur.com/5GgeCNx.jpg
