  1. I am thinking of getting a Pilot Decimo soon and I can't decide whether I should get an EF or F nib. I currently have a Metropolitan with a fine nib which works very well with my cheap notebook and copy paper with a little scratchiness. I have been looking around doing research and it seems to be various people saying the EF is scratchy while others say it is smooth. I do not write with much pressure, maybe a light to medium pressure. The pictures of the writing at the Nib Nook when comparing the EF and F of the VP to the Metro F seem almost exactly the same though the VP F looks a little thicker than the Metro F. I am leaning toward the EF since I want a line thinner than the Metro, but I am willing to get the F if the EF is as scratchy as some people say it is.
  2. A friend in Japan sent me a sheet of 50th anniversary Shinkansen or "Bullet Train" stamps. Thought the Shinkansen and Pilot Decimo share a resemblance.
  3. Hello all, After returning a Lamy 2k and an Aurora Ipsilon, I am now planning to buy a Pilot Decimo (prefer to capless) but I am hesitating on the nib : I am searching for an equivalent to a Lamy/Western M or very wet F. First > I was using a Lamy Safari F that was like a medium-broad with a wet ink, Noodler's Bernanke bblk, } I will use Iroshizuku shin-kai which I think have a medium/flow lubrication, I tried tsuki-yo and it was a little less wet than Noodler's, so count that. (flow> waterman but <noodler's) I had the opportunity to try a Capless near home so I have an idea about the "softness" of the nib and the clip will not bother me even though I am left-handed. I didn't realize if the nib was a medium or a broad but as I am in Europe and it was a Capless, I think it was more likely to be a medium as the broad is less common. Inked with Pilot Black it was fine (will try to upload a scan later). + I heard that the Japanese statement that M=F, B=M was not very true with this pens, at least with the vps in the us.. So I guess that if the medium is the one that I have encountered and if it is as an "average" medium, it should be fine. I am afraid that with the softness the broad will be too large, otherwise I suspect the iroshizukus to not be very far of the namikis inks in term of wetness. So : What nib do you recommend? Thank you by advance, Armand.D
  4. Hello everyone To be clear I am searching for a new pen around ~100€ to replace my Lamy 2000, which finally doesn't suits me. I found it too heavy for daily use in high-school + as I am lefty, I didn't find it comfortable enough. My reference pen was during one year the Lamy Safari (wet F), not the best ink capacity but the best comfort I found among others (parker sonnet, 45, 2000, fpr) and the best facility of use ; it's just reliable - solid - working. I) So what's essential for my pen is : 1 - Snap Cap : This is a must for me in fast note-taking, I just don't really like the screwing-type. 2 - Comfort : Anything close to the triangular section of the Safari is welcome, and I say it now : I don't like textured ones. Otherwise I prefer pens coming with a mat finish, less sweat is better. 3 - Nib Feeling : I wrote one year with a wet Fine nib, and judging my experience from the semi-hooded of the 2k, any Western medium is ok.. I just prefer normal nib shapes → hoodeds are not very practical for my writing-style (between side/over-writer). At 100€ I don't really mind for the gold nib, I think that a reliable firm-smooth nib should do the trick. II) Notes : I prefer to avoid Japanese pens for their nib-size system (I have three pilot's and I find the mediums too thin).. But if you have japaneses snap-caps with good M/B nib, yes ! (I would like to hear about the capless/decimo comfort). III) To sum up : That's what comes to my mind first about choosing my new pen. Keep in mind, "Reliability - Comfort - Solidity" = my main principles. I didn't have the time yet too highlights some pens, but I will update the thread, so don't hesitate with recommendations. PS : The Aurora Ipsilon might be interesting. → Thank you ! Armand.D
  5. Hi, I've decided I'd like to buy a Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo with an EF nib, and I'm wondering where FPN would recommend buying it online, for delivery to Australia? Many thanks! PT
