A self-correction note: the horizontal strokes are a little unevenly spaced in 首 in the regular script, and perhaps the 辶 shouldn't be touching the 首; not the easiest character to write. In hindsight I really should be practising the characters on a spare sheet of paper before writing this in my journal. But I guess I am too lazy to have done that. I may (or not!) try to be more mindful next time.

The Philosophy Of Spencerian Script?

When I was choosing a script to learn, I was interested in Spencerian because of the philosophy behind it. Articles talk about how the shapes were based on nature and mention that learning the philosophy was an important element to learning the script. However, there isn't much mention of this in the six-book set from Mott Media. Just the theory book and the five copy books - which are lovely and I'm learning a lot from these books. However, I want to also learn about the philosophy that inspired this style of writing. Are there any resources out there that cover this? -

Help To Identify The Pen Edmund Husserl Is Using

Can someone help me to identify the fountain pen in the photo? The hands are from Edmund Husserl, the founder of Phenomenology. I don't know exactly the year of the photo, but it could be from 1920 - 1938 (the year of his death). The friend who posted it in Facebook works in the Husserl Archives (Leuven), and says it is a pen with an ink reservoir (not a dip pen). Curiously, he appears to be using it with the nib upside down, surely to get a finer stroke.
