Looking for a student, newbie, adventurer in the fountain pen world that would love to try this eyedropper. As you will see, it was used with a prple ink and I couldn't get the stain out of the cap and around the clip, but I am sure that with the proper solution you may be able to clean it properly. All other parts have been cleaned thoroughly. I will someone that: 1-lives in the mainland USA 2- can pay for shipping ($6.75) through PayPal I may decide promptly since I just want to give it away. As a matter of thanks for previous PIFs, i am looking for the pens I no longer use to give away. It's difficult, but here is one. Hey guys. I'm getting a new fountain pen all my experience was with Lamy Vista. I like it very much. Yet I'm looking for a smoother experience. As a student, I don't have much budget and sheaffer 300 is probably the most I can do here. I asked a friend of mine which is the largest fountain pen collector and he said Lamy safari's experience is a very expensive one, but he also suggested Sheaffer 300 and Parker vector. What do you think? Is sheaffer as good writer as Lamy Safari is?

Hello everyone! I've been reading this website for months but this is the first time I post. I wanted to ask you guys to recommend me which pen I should ask for as a gift for my college graduation, with a budget of max 400 dls. I have been considering the following options: Visconti Van Gogh Starry Night, Visconti Dali, Montegrappa Ducale and Espressione and Montblanc 145, but I am open to more suggestions. I have been into fountain pens for a couple of years and I currently own 2 Lamy Safaris and a Sheaffer 100. Which pen would you choose for this special occasion?

hey guys, my name is jamie and i am new to this network, and i was having difficulty finding some quality high GSM paper that wont bleed or feather when i write on them with wet pens like the jinhao x450. Are any og you guys having the same issue ? it seems to me that there isnt really enough places to get quality things for fountain pens, becuase officeworks doesnt carry any paper with a GSM high enough to not bleed like crazy, and they have a very very limited range of fountain pens. what sort of stuff are my australian mates having difficulty finding? -

Pen: Noodler's Konrad Appalachian Pearl Flex Pen Ink: J. Herbin Rouge Opera I bought this pen from Goulet Pens via 65daigou (mail forwarder) and it came in a crushed box. While using it, I encountered endless problems; the pen perpetually railroaded, no matter how slowly I wrote and in which orientation. It railroaded at the slightest amount of encouragement! I have flushed this pen before and it only barely improved the situation. ' Upon taking a closer look, I noticed the tines and nib shape were weird-looking... for those of you who also own Konrad Flexes, is this a normal thing or do I have to get this pen replaced/fixed? some photos....

We have all seen the dozens of books telling the story of the Waterman fountain pen beginnings and we all know about the L.E. Waterman and A. A. Waterman problems,, but... ...have many seen and read this tidbit of information? It's a fascinating read and actually makes one wonder if the details are genuine or if some of the Waterman historical facts could be erroneous?! Because I love history and things that are old (although my hubby is younger), I found this a very interesting read. Just wanted to share...thoughts? The missing pieces? (With thanks to Daniel Kirchheimer).

Around 2005 or so, I had first noticed the Pilot desk pen lineup on the online Pilot Catalog, the prices were good but the problem was availability. No one on ebay carried them. Recently, I established a good rapport with a Japan based Pilot dealer and I was able to order these pens. This review is my attempt to document the top and middle pens of the Pilot deskpen range. This review covers the Models: DP-500-B-M and DPN-200-R-M The DP-500 is the top of the line model available in Black or Red resin with 14K gold nib in EF/F/M. The DPN-200 is the next model with an inset GP steel nib(EF/F/M) and a golden tail piece. Surprisingly Pilot does not offer desk bases for these pens(their desk bases are only for ball points), I think it will be a project for me to get it made. Even the gold nibbed pen is priced at just 5250JPY msrp which works out to just 53USD by today's exchange rates, a terrific bargain, IMO. Onto the pens. The pens look really classy in hand and I liked the red inset nib one (i love their inset nibs) with my wife choosing the Black one for her use. I plan to buy the other color counterparts too. The Charleston is the least expensive fountain pen offered today by Waterman which has a gold nib, and it`s placed in the middle of the range. The question is: is the Charleston a compromise or a universal soldier? Let`s find out. 1. Design and appearance: 4/5. They say that the Charleston design was inspired by an 1930s model, therefore having some art-deco design features, most noticeable being that middle metallic ring. I personally would have placed it near the cap ring, but nonetheless, it does offer a note of distinction to the pen. What I like more about it is the clip design and the fact that it has a screw-on cap, which is pretty uncommon for a modern pen. I also like the fact that the section threads are made from metal. http://i57.tinypic.com/288zj0h.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/5k10jn.jpg The nib is rather small and uninteresting, which is a shame in terms of design, but we`il see how it performs. Another sign that this is a cheaper pen are the lines which remain from the production process and which can be felt along the cap and section, and on the lower half of the barrel. The cap comes with a metal ring, which is good. About the color: mine is the worst version, blue with silver accents. If I had a choice, I would have gone with the white version with gold trim, which looks fabulous. 2. Size and weight: 4.5/5. The pen is 13.cm long and around 1.2 cm in diameter, and weights around 25 grams. In my book, these are near-perfect proportions for a medium sized hand. It sits comfortably in the hand, and it can be used both capped and uncapped. The cap posts very well, and the weight is evenly distributed. 25 grams is average in terms of weight, but the pen feels solid. The clip is rigid, but usable. 3. Writing: 4.5/5. I have tried both the fine and medium sized nibs available with the Charleston, and I can safely say that this looks like a solid performer. The short, 18k nibs are really smooth(9/10), even the fine nib performs very well. Ink flow is average, but constant from the first try, and I could see myself using this pen on a daily basis. The nib has a pretty large sweet spot, and it`s tolerant, meaning it will write using several angles and hand positions- just the way I like it, since i`m a sloppy writer. The pen came with a standard converter which works well, although i`m not a fan of the twist type converters. The good news is that Waterman pen also accept(in theory at least) standard international ink cartridges. http://i62.tinypic.com/15ewde.jpg 4. Cost and packaging: 4/5. I paid less the 100 dollars for a Charleston set, and at that price pont, it`s safe to say that I got a bargain. In general, I would say that the fair price for a Charleston would be around 100 dollars. The box in which it came looks nice, but it`s fairly standard. Conclusion. Although Waterman made some compromises on the Charleston(short, plain looking nib, less than perfect finish, pretty high mrsp price), this is a rather nice pen. It`s comfortable during use, thanks to the smooth nib and good proportions, the design has a classic inspiration and with a bit of luck, you can pick one of these for a really good price.

Hello everyone! I am Jarwolf! I saw a fountain pen online browsing for something to purchase for a hobby. I saw an advertisement saying "Fountain Pen's 60% off" I thought to myself.."Hmm, what in the world could a fountain pen be?" *click link* I saw an odd looking tip. Okay...I think I will buy it and see what it does! Sadly to say, it did not come with any ink at all, just the pen! Here is a little story why I got this and why I am here today needing help! Okay, so I made up the name Jarwolf, because my first name is Jared, also..well...hehe, I LOVE WOLVES WITH A PASSION!!! awhoooooo!!!!! I am terrified and HATE needles! I wish to get a wolf tattoo on my left arm. I thought to myself, "This pen may work if..." (((bleep), what ink...what bran!!!?! ahhhhhhhh)). So, my question is...Where can I find ink that will work in my fountain pen that is black and permanent such as "indelible ink", or ink that will NOT go away or fade when I go to take a shower and if I were to constantly scrub on the area where I drew the 'tattoo' on my arm. Please help me; my beautiful fountain pen users! Also, a link (if allowed) for the ink that I just described (if there is one!--There has to be! :\ !) Here is the DESCRIPTION of the pen that I have bought, I will also have pictures attached to this. Description: Classic Smooth Writing Pen, 18k gold-plated stainless steel nib,ink Cartridge International Standard, Removable Converter and Refillable, cap type:push. What does "ink cartridge international Standard" mean as well as "cap type:push"? How am I supposed to refill this as well? EDIT:: Would I be able to put different NIBS on sense it is unscrewable//comes off???

So just thought I'd ask other users, since I find myself using very cheap pens more and more. What is your favorite low budget fountain pen? My collection consists almost completely of Jinhao's Baoers, and free noodlers pens. I find myself using them more than my pilot metro, ahab(though it leaks and replacement is on the way) and others. So, please post what your favorite or favorites are in the low end of the price spectrum, what nib, and why they're your favorite cheap pens or even favorite pens. If you can post pictures that's even better. -

Hello! So, I have used the following writing fountain pens: Lamy Safari Pilot Varsity Monteverde Invincia Of these three, I definitely prefer the pilot varsity and invincia. Don't kill me for not liking the Lamy as much as many others do, but in my writing experience it tended to be a bit scratchy feeling and, believe it or not, glided too much for my taste. The Pilot Varsity was an absolutely amazing pen to start with and I'm glad it is the first one I picked up. I love the smoothness of the pen and it was not too wet which was fairly nice since when I got it I was mostly using standard notebook paper. The fine nib worked wonders for me as I was and still am a student, now in college, and the note-taking aspect was really great. The Monteverde Invincia (medium nib) has a writing experience that really hasn't been topped yet. If there is anything I can complain about, it is that the nib has a sweet spot, and maybe that my hands/fingers are large so often they get cramped while holding the neck which is metal. It can be hard to get a good grip. Otherwise, I really love the look of this pen- I love the weight of the metal. The length is absolutely perfect and, truth be told, it could even be a bit thicker since my hands are such monstrosities. In terms of writing though it feels very smooth when in it's sweet spot- it is definitely a VERY wet pen which is fine since I am using Rhoida and Clairefontaine paper. The medium nib makes my writing look much better and it is a surprisingly good note taking pen which is what I was originally worried about. So I guess my list of wants are: Non-scratchy Fairly wet Fairly Smooth A step above what I have so far A looker (A pen that can make a statement) And a good pen for a student. If you have any inks that you would recommend for an expensive or a vintage fountain pen, what would it be? If you have a list of them, I would love to see that. Feel free to also say what inks you would specifically stay away from when using expensive pens. Currently I only have 2 inks, one is a black Parker Quink which I like a little bit. Not a huge fan, but if I need a black, it gets the job done. The other one is Noodler's Liberty's Elysium, which I love so very much. It's the nicest blue I have ever seen by far. However, I did notice that it stained the feed of my Metropolitan blue as well. So I decided that I would never let that happen if I were to get a more expensive or a vintage pen. More so a vintage pen because I respect vintage items and would rather not do something that will make it changed forever (I have 2 vintage saxophones that I use, I freak out even if I barely tap them against a music stand, chair, or another person's instrument). Does anyone else have this problem with Liberty's Elysium? For some reason I thought only Baystate colors had that problem. If you need to know what colors I'm particularly interested in, well, personally I prefer either a gold-brown, green, regular brown, blue-green, grey, and blue. However, I already have a blue and would like to get either a green, blue-green, brown/gold-brown, or grey. I am well aware that there is such thing as grey-greens and gold-greens as well as other combination colors, those apply to the things I wouldn't mind trying out.

Hi all, First in wanted to thank you for the great advice I found in this forum when I purchased my new Montblanc 146P. As I’m new here I not sure if this fits in this section of the forum but I’ll give it a try. Unfortunately the reason for the new pen was the broken clip on my old ball pen. I got this one form my grandfather many years ago and it did great service to me. I hope you can help me to identify the type of this Montblanc pen. It is a retractable pen which button was integrated in the clip. Thank you a lot Stefan

Hello everyone! I'm Mike. I live in Denver, Colorado! About a year and a half ago I moved back to Denver (and the U.S. for that matter) from Australia. I am an engineer and was working in the field. Now that I have an office role I've dropped the field pencil and picked up the fountain pen...and I'm LOVING it! As engineers do, I've been researching to no end, learning as much as I can. I'm really glad I found FPN as it has been an incredible resource (unlike many forums out there...)! I also happen do be big into photography as a hobby! The Visconti Michelangelo rollerball was my first nice pen and it is what got me into writing more. I then found FPN and started lusting after many fountain pens and have since picked up a Lamy 2000 and a Visconti Homo Sapiens MIDI. Now I just need to practice my penmanship so I stop looking like I'm 4 years old. Hey hi! Thanks for taking interest. Could anyone help me out with ink stores in India? I would prefer the ones who give an option to order online. (Of course, I cannot travel all of India just for some ink bottles :/ ) I live in a small town & all that is available here is Camlin Blue & Red inks. If you are lucky, you may find Parker Quinky. I'm looking for inkwells up to INR 500 but cannot find stores. I have been swarming the internet since last week but to no good. I've been through pensavenvue.com, pensindia.com & of course snapdeal, flipkart, ebay and amazon. Here's what I've seen: Pelikan inks (32/65ml base colors RGBY) : INR 200-400 : OUT OF STOCK Diamine inks (30-60ml base colors RGY, blue available): INR 375-500: OUT OF STOCK Waterman inks: Same, out of stock. I mean, come on! All they've got of these brands are 850 & above! You name it! Lamy, Diamine, Waterman, J.herbin, etc. Can't find varied colors in any local brands & I'm not going to use camlin. I've tried to shop cross country but the shipping charges are more than the cost of product, obviously. :/ I currently use PILOT NAMIKI IROSHIZUKU - Ku-jaku Peacock Deep Turquoise Blue (50ml) & it cost me 1500 INR. I ordered it from engeika.com. If you buy the same thing from any of the Indian stores, you get it for 2500. Now, I can't afford 1500 for ever color and just for 50ml. So, I'm looking for varied colors & a bit of quality at the same time. So, any suggestion regarding stores / places to buy would be helpful. Also, please let me know if there are any Indian brands who make good inks. Thank you!

Hello! I am hoping you good folks can fill me in on the history (or lack thereof) concerning this recent purchase. I am aware that the Osmiroid 35 nib was often used as a quick replacement on pens, but I am more interested in the body of this pen. I have been unable to find any reference to what appears to be a rubber body (?)....let alone a button filler. Any thoughts? Was this cute little thing someone's Frankenpen? Hello, Few days back I wrote a cheque and signed it and gave it to a lady to cash it, after about half an hour I got a call from the lady saying they refused to pay her, I started to play fool and asked her what was wrong, she said: they send me to the manager and she asked what kind of a cheque is this. Knowing I had written and signed the cheque using sheaffer turquoise ink 😶 told her to come back and I will give her another one. Was wondering if anyone had a similar story. TBH I don't understand why the color should be an issue. Best regards.
