  1. I have a Orange Parker Centennial Pen that has a cracked case. Does anyone have the part available to replace the case or would know of a place that may have it. The nib is in good working order and does not need
  2. the last thing you expect to do on your way to a meeting of your pen club is to find and buy pens, but that's exactly what happened to me yesterday here in manila.... my wife had an early meeting with a client, so we stopped by a nearby mall after her meeting for a snack, and lo and behold, there was an antiques show in the concourse, the second day of an annual event. i cruised the stalls while sipping hot chocolate and munching a doughnut, and didn't find anything too interesting, until i reached the last stall on our way out (of course, it always happens this dramatically).... there was a bunch of pens in their boxes under the glass, and i asked to see them more closely.... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7344/9753345261_3ed74ff63e_z.jpg these were the ones that interested me most, especially since it looked like they were in mint condition (and indeed they were--the two parkers had personalizations, but otherwise had apparently never been used; the sheaffer still had chalk marks on it, and the pens were absolutely scratch- and ding-free). a sheaffer imperial, a parker 75, and a parker 61, all from the 1960s: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7430/9753544126_936a9e6dee_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7295/9753348371_f1a9e0a4f4_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7313/9753622153_da528c8223_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7329/9753549166_d5dc0b13b3_z.jpg total price for the lot: $125--not really a sumgai, but a pleasant start to any penman's day
  3. First post on FPN in over a year for me. My life has taken several unexpeced turns, but I am now back! Here's the story: I went antiquing in Québec city last friday, searching for vintage pens and antique bottles. After three unsuccessful attempts I finally find an antique store that has some fountain pens. There were three or four celluloid Watermans (two of them had damaged nibs, a very small streamline Duofold (Lady?) in need of a new sac, a Waterman #12, a Sheaffer Touchdown with stripped blind cap threads, an Esterbrook SJ and last but not least, a Parker set in a black faux-suede pen slip. I was intrigued by the set. I pulled the pen out, only to see the shimmer of the sterling silver grid pattern. Both the pen and the ballpoint were in excellent condition with little tarnish. The price asked was 125$, but after a few minutes of haggling I left the store with the set and my wallet 90$ lighter. Back home, I filled it with water, and it wrote perfectly with the rehydrated ink still in the original converter.

    What Model Is That?

Hello fountain pen lovers! I have a pen that I bought for a couple of years ago and now I can not identify the model of the pen. Does anyone can tell me what model this pen is. What I can say is that it is quite small and the nib is an F. The pen tip is retractable (the nib and the grip section). I know this will be extremely easy for most of you. Thanks for the help.
  5. Hi all, I've been wondering about the Hero 616. Does anyone know if the feed/collector system is the same for the 616 as that on the Parker 51? Just curious is all... Thanks, Badger

What Type Of Parker Is This.

My friend asked me to clean a Montblanc he hadn't touched in years. He handed me this Parker instead and it is a beauty. It has blue and white marbled resin with black highlights, gold metal accents, the parker arrow clip and an interesting 1 logo on the top of the cap. I assume it is a Duofold. The nib has an arrow in silver on it, the nib says Parker, 18k, 750. The feed is has no chanels in it and has an M stamped on it. Forgive the awful pictures. My phone is from the stone age. Thanks.

    Replica Parker Duofolds?

Hello, I am a bit of a history nut, and the Parker Duofold is a very historic pen, with it being used by MacArthur and all. After browsing the ebays, amazon, etsy, etc. for an ungodly amount of time, I have been unable to find a nice Parker Duofold for a price that I (being an extreme cheapskate) could bear. Thus, I was wondering if I could find a cheaper alternative ($50 max? don't know if I'm pushing it) to the Parker Duofold that still has the button filler and styling of the Duofold without the cost. Maybe a replica or the like. Basically, I am looking for something that is to the Duofold that the Hero 616 is to the Parker 51. Regards, Tadeusz

    Goulet Pen Nibs In Parkers?

Hello, I have a question. I have a Parker Frontier and I'd like to swap a nib. Recently I saw an interesting ad, goulet pen co. has made their own nibs(#6 nib). The question is does GP nibs fit into Parker frontier?

    A Vac-Banded Vac

i picked this up from ebay recently at a fairly decent price (considering how much they go for), and i finally received it yesterday in manila. so here it is, the vac-band vac, a major ca. 1937 (for newbies, this version with the words "PARKER VACUMATIC" engraved on the cap band came out briefly in 1937, dropped when the parker bosses decided that they cost too much to produce.) it's a big deal only to vac nuts like me, of course; otherwise it's just another pen with an extra feature (would anyone care or pay more if pelikan had "pelikan" around its cap band?), but its rarity is outstanding; i don't see more than one or two of these come up in a year, if ever, on ebay, and then the price shoots sky-high, even to four figures. the barrel on my pen (a "long major") is coded 1939, so the cap may have been switched to a later barrel, but no matter, it's the cap and band i really paid for; a couple of other issues include a small but stable crack on the cap lip, and bite marks on the blind cap (i had a spare, pristine blind cap waiting for the pen, so that part of it is OK now). http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5321/9585730727_5a51a89e42_z.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2840/9588525504_7d6185f8e4_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7400/9588526938_510c22d12b_z.jpg to put it in context, can you even spot it among the vacs below, many of them looking nicer than this one? http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3804/9588523696_4727956f3b_h.jpg

    Parker 51 Hood Too Tight

After having just bought my first Parker 51 (Aerometric), I noticed flow issues from the second I first used it. After a thorough cleaning, I realized that the flow problem had to do with the hood of the pen closing the tines of the nib. Does anyone know of a good way to make the hood fit less tightly? (Preferably without having to apply heat) Thanks in advance!
  12. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151102304538?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Here is a listing for a Parker Vacumatic set in a Parker 51 box. How about some bidding to help the seller get a fair price for her/his set? Those who like Parker Vacumatics should be interested in the fountain pen and matching pencil, and those who like Parker 51' s should be interested in the box. The listing ends in a little over three (3) hours from now.
  13. Well, I was down in Bellingham for the Seattle Pen Club meeting this past weekend and tried a few 51s and 21s and decided to give it another shot, since I quite liked them. I didn't get on with the last 51 I had but I think part of that was that the nib was drier and finer than I would've liked. So, I went ahead and snagged myself this red 21 (last series judging by the clip) with a medium nib off eBay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/261067430896?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I'm excited about trying it again, particularly since I got one with a medium nib when the fines seem to be much more common. Wish me luck.

    My First Parker 51 Vacumatic

Hey all this is my first venture into the vintage pen marker and wow is it a beauty. Writes very smooth with Noodlers Black Loaded. Just a quick question for all the Parker vets. Seeing as how i got this one off of Ebay how can i know whether or not i need to do a diaphragm replacement? The pump works and i havent had any issues with skipping or leaks yet but I did just get it today. Thanks for any info you can provide. http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/ag147/inferno2086/12925805-9954-48e3-a92f-5e7a2f478c39_zpsc85f8a44.jpg http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/ag147/inferno2086/Flickr_2013_06_06_10_52_54_zpsa0460630.jpg

    Help In Identifying A Parker?

So this being my first post here, Hi! to all I have been a fp enthusiast since I was about 7 years old. And I have written from pens costing 10 cents at the present exchange rate to a Parker that my brother gifted to me later. The problem is that its packing didnt list any model number and I was left wondering what to call it if someone ever asked me. Unfortunately, I dont have it right now with me and thus am unable to post a photo of it. But I will try to describe it as well as I can. I hope some of you fp gurus out there can latch on to the answer I am looking for So its a Parker, as I said earlier. Not a Vector or a Beta. I know those. It is royal blue in colour(i guess thats the closest blue I can describe it as, its not a very dark blue, nor a very light one, you can call it a shiny facebook blue) and has is made of plastic, both the barrel and the cap. The clip on the cap is mettalic, stainless steel most probably, with an arrow head. Not the Vector type arrowhead though. Since the body of the pen curves at both ends, the clip is also curved inside, not straight. Going into technicalities, it has a stainless steel nib with a Rhodium tip, which I think is the distinguishing factor for it. Rhodium is the rarest metal on earth and one of the strongest, and hence the pen has served me excellently. Secondly, the nib is partially hooded. If you dont get what I mean, imagine a half hooded nib, such that it is hooded till its edges start on their final bend towards each other. The ink system is cartridge which can be replaced by a detatchable piston system which holds as much ink as the cartridges. The piston system came with the pen along with 4 cartridges. There is a rubber grip which I actually like because it makes it very comfortable to hold. There is also a chrome ring just below the rubber grip and just ablove the place where the barrel unscrews. Thats pretty much it. Any ideas?
  19. Hi, I'm trying to date this parker duofold, Can't find any material on the nib code which helps me to do this. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, i'd like to know how to read the number&dot code on the nibs of some old parkers. Nib has standard markings (parker, 14CT made in england) and at the base has: 15 4 . . . Many thanks! http://i.imgur.com/B3VbvTGl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/P1m2Crnl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nj0kadol.jpg
  20. Parker Urban Fountain Pen – Metallic Chrome review The Parker Urban comes in both rollerball and fountain pens. I received my Urban fountain pen in December 2011. It was my first fountain pen, and I still love it. Appearance (10/10): A Work of Art Of course this is subjective, but I think the pen looks fantastic. I love the thinner-in-the-middle, thicker-at-the-cap design, and the stainless steel body looks like that of a pen five times the price. It does scream “steal me”, but it's very impressive. Design/Size/Weight (8/10): Functional and Forgiving My immediate thought when I picked up the pen was “Whoa, this is lighter than I expected”. It's evenly weighted, but for a full-metal pen, it's almost as light as a cheap metal ballpoint. I like this because it means I can write for longer without tiring out my hand. Unposted, the length is perfect for my medium-sized hands, if a little small, and the thinning-out around the middle makes this a very comfortable pen to use indeed. I only have two complaints about the design: Firstly, the cap is too large to post without making the pen feel top-heavy. So if you like easy posting, maybe steer away from the Parker Urban. My second complaint is that the grip is smooth plastic and tapered towards the nib, so my fingers frequently slide down and touch the nib itself, resulting an inked-up thumb and index finger. If you're used to gripping your pens like disposable ballpoints, as I am, this may be an issue for you. The cap sits nicely and firmly on the pen when capped or posted. It's not a screw-type. The clip is quite stiff but is usable. The metallic chrome body is fingerprint-resistant, but there is the potential for scratching. I've had mine for over a year now, and it's pretty scratched up if you look at it closely. I don't take very good care of my pens, throwing them in my bag with my keys and such, so this won't be a problem if you're a keep-them-at-home kind of person. Nib (7/10): Good, but Not Perfect Firstly, it's so small! I have the medium nib, which is quite smooth and worked out-of-the-box. The smoothness of the nib should not be overstated, though. It's certainly not scratchy, but it's nothing to write home about (no pun intended). Fortunately it has seldom skipped, and ink flow is consistent. It is quite a “dry” writer, using Parker cartridges. I have yet to try a converter with this pen. It's very rigid, even for a steel nib – a little too rigid for my tastes. I assume this is because it's so small. The biggest problem is, though, that you can't remove the nib. Not easily, anyway. I've tried, and failed. I've also heard that it can damage the feed if you try to remove the nib. This shouldn't be too much of a problem, but you may want to take it into consideration. Filling system and maintenance (9/10): Easy, easy, easy Filling with cartridges is fine, though perhaps it's a little difficult to unscrew the pen. The standard Parker cartridges hold plenty of ink, and while I haven't used a converter yet (it didn't come with one), I assume it would hold a similar amount. Maintenance is virtually non-existent. I've only cleaned it once or twice and it still works as well as it did when I got it. Cost and Value (10/10): Bargain It's a steal. I got mine for AU$75 plus shipping, which is a great deal for this high-quality pen. I've seen it for higher prices than that, but in my opinion, it's still worth it. Overall (9/10) I love this pen. It's almost infallible for the price. The biggest thing stopping the Parker Urban Metallic Chrome from receiving a perfect score is the nib: It's not bad, but it's not perfect. Nonetheless it's well worth the price, and I would recommend it to anyone provided they don't like flex or changing nibs.

    Clip Repair

Hello All, I'm very new to the world of fountain pens, and I just recenty got my first pen when my father found, and then gave me, his old Parker Maxima that he used in high school. The pen seems to be in good working order, but the clip is a bit loose. (Hopefully the photos illustrate this?) Does anybody have any suggestions about how to fix the clip in place? Glue seems like an obvious solution, but I'm not sure as to which one to use, etc. Many thanks!

    Help Identifying A Parker Set

Hi, just found this forum and wanted to get some help to identify a set of pens I own. For what I've seen around, it seems to have a Parker 61 FP, with the Capillary system. It's not been used in a LONG time. Thanks for any insight into the Pen and/or the Set. http://i.imgur.com/vUgXRWZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/DU8OXLg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/29elu3w.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aDJmDjA.jpg

    Parker 51 In Kolkata (Calcutta)

I am looking for some Parker 51's from a long time but unfortunately two of them purchased by me from eBay got lost in customs. I am now hunting them in India. I will be visiting Kolkata in the coming week. Does anybody knows if I can find (Where??) Parker 51 and other pens (probably in NOS) there.
  24. Hello fellow Parker Fans, I recently made contact with a guy who is 75 years young and was a Parker Rep for many years. Started when he was 19. I haven't met him yet but have made plans to visit him when he returns from Florida this weekend. He is selling off his collection. Here is a email he sent me: "I used to be a salesman for Parker Pen Co over 50 years ago and have a nice collection, mostly new, in original boxes... Big Reds, 75's, (sterling, and vermeil), Classics, (sterling, gold, sillver), 45's, 51's, 61's, collectable Jotters, T-1,s, and others , Cross and Sheaffer also" On the phone he mentioned that he has some NOS desk sets, some commemoritive pens that have, for example, "1000th _insert pen model here____" Imprinted on the barell. I also like the fact that the pens he mentions are plural...as in I have more than one of these. Needless to say, I do not feel like this kind of find happens often...or does it? I have only been collecting for about 2 1/2 years now and have recently found a few Parkers and am really getting into them now. A blue Vac filler from 1946 and a "61" are two of my daily writers. I am curious..should I inquire about other things he may have with Parker on it such as catalogs, binders, salesmans books, cases, brochures, etc... too or is there much of a market for that? I really look forward to meeting him. We only spoke on the phone for about 10 min. but to hear his stories such as visits to the plant and how they polished certain pen parts in finely crushed walnuts etc,,, just seemed fasinating. Wish me luck...hopefully he doesn't want full retail on all of it...LOL -Rob
  25. I have a 1948 all original (as far as I can tell, except for the section hood because of horrible cracks and missing pieces.) Parker "51" in india black. got it for free at a garage sale about 5 years ago because my name was Parker, replaced the nib hood that had horrible cracks and missing pieces with a new one and just recently got the vacuumatic assembly out. I did not like what I saw. I was planning on doing the repair myself, as I have done pretty basic restorations (sac replacements, nib alignment, nib grinding/bending)on some Sheaffers in the past, but when I opened it up all I saw was hardened ink and sac and horribleness (see pictures in link). So my question is: should I send it in to someone or fix it myself, if i fix it myself what do i use to get the gunk out of the barrel and what should I use to grip the feed to pull it out? Images http://imgur.com/a/jvE3p (sorry for the imgur link not sure if people like that site, but it is easy to use and the files were to big to attach)
