    An Interesting Parker 51

Hello all, I am new on this forum, yet I have something to show you. Quite recently I got my hands on Parker 51 black with rolled gold cap, packed in the original box. It looks new, not actually restored, but unused. There would be nothing unusual about this particular example, where it not for the Lions Club logo on the clip and a number "1/10" engraved on the edge of tle cap. See pictures I've attached for details. Now what would I like to know: is there anyone who could be helpful of obtaining traces of this pen's history? Maybe it was made for an auction? Or maybe the other nine were lost? Sounds interesting eitherways and I couldn't find any info online.

    Parker Premier Luxury Question

Hello, Since I've got my Parker Premier Luxury Black last month, I have very much loved it. However, there is a slight annoyance in the form of a small amount of ink on the nib every time I uncap the pen. I think the issue may be with the cap, but I can' treacly see anything wrong with it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Parker Doufold Centennial

I just bought a new Parker Duofold Centennial, lovely pen!... But I am having an issue and I would like to see if any member can help. When I keep the pen in vertical position (in my pocket) for around half an hour my nib goes dries, all the ink flows back into the converter (same with cartridge). If I keep the pen horizontal in my desk, even for days I don’t see this problem. I did buy a new complete nib section from nibs.com and same happens!! After keeping the pen vertical, I remove the nib and feed and verified the ink has gone back into cartridge. I tried all types of inks (including Waterman Serenity) with same results. I have lots of other pens and none display this behavior. Is this pen not meant to be carried in a pocket??? $700 expended and lot of hours lost…..I am about to give up and use it as a trolling lure.

    Victory Af (Iv) Repair Question?

I won a Victory AF (mark IV?) on ebay recently, I knew the pen had a slightly damaged barrel which doesn't bother me (although I may look at ways to repair that at some point), the seller didn't know much about pen but thought everything was complete. The pen arrived this morning as is exactly as described only it's missing the pressure bar, I know this is an easy fix but have no idea what size would fit the pen, can anyone advise me please? http://i62.tinypic.com/25hzcrb.jpg Picture showing the damage to the barrel, I think as some point it may have been a cigarette burn that someone has sanded smooth, it's a small indentation, I may look into a way of either filling it or just matching the colour to hide it a little. http://i61.tinypic.com/2vn4az9.jpg The nib has 20 8 on it, I don't know what size that is as I'm going to soak and clean the pen before trying it, I was surprised to find that the sac is still really supple and I'm tempted to keep it but I'll probably order a new one when I get a pressure bar. The pen looks black in the pictures but it's actually a really dark blue EDIT: I'm currently cleaning the pen and now realise that the damage isn't a sanded smooth burn but actually a filled hole(still possibly a cigarette burn from the size) it looks like it's been filled with wax or something of a similar texture. I've never heard of a repair using wax, if it is I may either use heat to removed it and either find a better way of repairing it or redo it in wax and get a better finish.

    Parker Premier 18K Presidential

Hi, This is a Parker Premier 18K gold fountain pen that I recently acquired. It has been in the box for a long time and the body and cap looks like they could be polished up a little bit. Should I have someone clean it up or just leave it as is? Any advice or information would be appreciated. Thanks, IKWarren
  6. http://pencollect.co.uk/personal/03.jpg I bought a "New Old Stock" Parker 45 Flighter on Ebay a little while back and was amused to find that it had not been stuck together properly when it was put together so all I needed to do was unscrew the end cap and the clip screw and it fell apart into it's component parts (except for the ink collector that is fixed into the shell section). I thought it would be a good opportunity to have a good look into just what makes up the pen.

    Can You Identify This Eversharp?

I just bought a pen lot off eBay and this is one of the pens in the group that was part of it. http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww191/ParkerDeanPeterson/temporary-5.jpg http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww191/ParkerDeanPeterson/temporary-6.jpg http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/ww191/ParkerDeanPeterson/temporary-7.jpg I'm not sure what kind of Eversharp it is. It says Eversharp on the front of the cap but on the back of the cap it has what I believe is the Parker emblem.

Greetings From The San Joaquin Delta

New here. Have always had a fondness for fountain pens and started using them early in life. Grew up in the next city block over from original headquarters of Montblanc in Hamburg. Came here to have a question answered regarding a T.S. Dupont Classique pen I own.
  9. Hello! I was wondering if anyone of you has a Parker Duofold (or maybe another pen) with an Oblique Fine nib? I was looking everywhere for some writing/drawing OF samples ....in vain I would like to know if an oblique nib would help me create some more line variation while drawing or would it skip all the time while not holding to a certain angle? I always tend to turn the nib towards me when I write and draw... actually when I draw I twist the pen all the time in all directions and use all the sides of the nib. I did not realise that until I watched a video of my hands while I draw... And if I turn an oblique upside down, does it produce a thinner line like the rounded nibs? I have some dip pens with reverse oblique nibs. They are totally flat, sharp as hell and a bit too broad for detailed drawing so they don't really help me imagine how an OF would work. The thing is I finally ordered my new Duofold. It comes with an F nib...but I could exchange the nib within 4 weeks. I'm really interested in the OF but I'm not sure if I can test it anywhere in Berlin... In all the stores I've been to I've been told I will probably have to send my pen to Parker (in Hamburg I think) if I'm not happy with the F nib. Sorry for writing a novel Here is one of my sketches...I'm interested in a nib that would create long, organic lines and give me lots of line variation.... Thank you for any help! 10. Hi I have a Parker Duofold Senior aerometric from 50's. Is nothing wrong with the pen, but i would like to change the nib from medium/broad to a fine tip. So I'm asking you guys how can I remove the nib and what nib should I get to replace. I would like a fine smooth nib, not flexible, not important if is not Parker. Two Vintage Parkers In Need Of Service

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a few suggestions of how to best have two of my vintage Parkers repaired. The first is a Parker Vacumatic with lockdown filler system. The pen was working fine until the diaphragm broke (my assumption, I have not opened the pen to look). http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd236/DocSmitty7/Pens/20130319_231029.jpg The second is a Parker Challenger button fill. The pen was bought knowing it needed repairs, but everything looks to be in working order except for the bladder being non-existent.. when I opened the pen (any shellac was long since gone), tons of tiny chunks came raining out. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd236/DocSmitty7/Pens/IMG_4184.jpg I would love to find someone that does not have a months-long backlog, but I know the most popular names will be popular because of the quality of their work. Thanks! (edited to add pics, duh!)
  12. Almost 5 months ago I "designed" and had this pen case tailor-made for me: http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/mmmcosta/Watches/PenCase_zps27acfdc3.jpg Here's the story: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/245327-tailor-made-pen-case/ Earlier today the cartridge went empty - in the small side pocket, a spare was available for replacement. Best! Marcelo

    Vacumatic Celluloid Problem?

I have a question about this Vacumatic. Is the discoloration on the barrel due to celluloid rot? Should I use it or not? It's not been restored, but it has a near barrel and doesn't leak. I've not kept it with the other Vacumatics since I've heard that celluloid rot "catches". It just sits in my desk and I've wondered what to do with it... So– what do I do? Suggestions?

    Lucky Findings

So I was walking in town today and entered one of the local office supplies shop. And bought following items: 1. 3 bottle of MontBlanc blue-black (permanent) 50 ml for only 1$ per bottle (yes, you heard/read me right). 2. 2 bottle of Parker Quink Red. I believe there are also old stock since the bottles look different. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. 3. 2 bottle of Pelikan TG-1 blue-black(permanent) 50 ml for 4$. It seems these are made in Turkey in 1993. But, it smells too bad (I mean really horrible) and too pale when I write with it. I believe they gone bad. I'm not sure I can us these, but I'll keep the bottles for sure. MontBlanc just writes awesome. I asked the people if they have more of it but they couldn't find any. I attached the photo just for the fun! Cheers!

Stumbled Across This On The Bay

After being forced to kick the pen habit for a while ( 50+ hour work weeks and an added 20+ hours of schoolwork will do that to ya ;-) ), I was cruising for my favorite addiction: Parker Duofolds. And then I came across this beauty: http://i751.photobucket.com/albums/xx155/dewitteuil456/parkerduofoldladybluecanada_zps37de2c1b.jpg What it said in the add: Parker duofold canada 18k Geo S parker. ring on top is missing The thing that surprised me (besides the beautiful colour), was the single wide band ! Has anyone seen one like this or owns one like this ? (pics please :-) ) Or if the lucky buyer would be so gracious to upload a few pics, I would really be interested in seeing more details.
  17. Hello, I just received a Parker Vacumatic Major in Azure blue in the mail. I inked it up...and it worked perfectly! I began to write, and it layed down a beautiful wet medium line. I got through about a whole page in gleeful bliss. Then...I looked at my fingers, feeling ink. I discovered that my thumb, index, and middle fingers were coated in J. Herbin Perle Noir! I grabbed an ink cloth, wiped the section down as well as my fingers. I thought I had just gotten some ink on the section while filling. Unforetunately, more ink issued forth. I held a paper towel to the section, and discovered the the leakage was coming from the part where the section connects to the body. Any repair ideas, preferably without needing to heat up and remove the section. Or, at last resort, any fountain pen restorers (big or small time) near the Naperville, Illinois area? That is my base of operations while I wage war on the real estate classifieds for an affordable house! In sort, what should I do if small drops of ink issue forth from the area in which the section screws into the body on a Parker Vacumatic Major. Thanks.
  18. Hello guys, I've seen on a website a beautiful Parker 51 insignia manufactured in England with pretty good condition and I was about to place the order. The only question I've got is that the pen comes with a single-tone clutch ring (white-metal). I suppose an insignia/signet should come with a double-tone clutch ring with gold-plated middle recess, is that correct? Please give some advices on this one! Thanks a lot!

    Parker 95 Dated Te (1985)

I have recently purchased a Parker 95 Flighter which has a date code of TE which is 3 years before this model was officially launched. I'm sure it's a 95 and not an Arrow as it has the single feathered clip. It came in the original box which is labelled 95 S/S G/T which is the correct description. Any thoughts from anyone who may know why this is the case.

    Parker Telvisor Nib Question

I recently bought a "BBB" nib Parker Tellevisor (Canadian?, 1940s?) which is quite a decent pen but has most of the tipping missing from one tine. I doubt that one could find a Televisor nib now but would any other Parker nibs fit? How difficult would it be to change it?
  22. Call me weird but we all have our little OCD secrets, after all we're pen fanatics. I absolutely hate people touching my Lamy Safari because they always leave it feeling warm. It's a different warm feeling from leaving it in the car or picking it up right after putting it down. And it's even worst when I use my Parker Urban Ballpoint (because I can flick this pen without the fear of ink going splat). When I let other people use it, instead of telling them that I'm OCD over pens, I end up having a warm pen (sometimes even oily GRR). The warm and oiliness is worsened by the fact that it is a metal pen. Soo... How do you fanatics solve the warm pen issue for pens other than FP. I can solve the oily issue by using the cloth for my glasses but I can't seem to lug around liquid nitrogen. And this is a real annoyance because I start to drift off school work and onto the fact that my pen is warm... >

    Parker Beta Series

So, I finally decided to boost my collection with some parker fountain pens and I saw two models and before I get them I want the opinion of the members of FPN: the pens I might get are: Parker Beta-normal (http://static1.shop.indiatimes.com/images/products/additional/original/B902057_View_1/lifestyle/pens/parker-beta-standard-fountain-pen-black-.jpg) & Parker Beta-calligraphy (http://penandpencil.in/image/cache/data/Pens/Calligraphy%20Pens/Parker_Beta_Standard_Calligraphy_-500x500.jpg) so does anyone have any ideas on how good they are? Thanks for the information

    Leong Feng 695

Leong Feng 695: Another Parker 51 clone First Impressions (2/5)The pen arrived with no box. Just a small transparent bag inside a bubble envelope. Not particularly interesting. Appearance (3/5)The Leong Feng 695 is another Parker 51 chinese clone, and it’s very similar indeed. It’s well built, with good materials and excellent finish with no sharp edges. Some people may find it somewhat boring, but if you like the Parker 51 appearance you will like this pen. I bought mine in a greenish-gray color, exactly the same as one Parker 51 Special I own. There was no choice of colors at the time of buying it. Design/Size/Weight (4/5)Pen length is 14.30 cm (5” 5/8), a little longer than the original 51. Its weight is 16.40 g, while the 51 is heavier with 21.32 g in the standard version and 18.60 g in the Special. Plastic is good enough, and the stainless steel cap is not as nice as in the 51 but much better than other clones like the Hero 616. The cap is friction fit; the thin clutch ring between section and barrel is useless as the cap clutch is supported by the section itself. The clip is very similar to the Parker, and there is a pattern of 4 lines and a space all around the cap. I never post my pens while writing, and the balance is very good. The Leong Feng 695 is very comfortable to write with, and you can use it for hours with no harm. Nib (4/5)The nib is stainless steel, firm and fine, but there is a “before and after” about it. The nib was really ugly out of the bag: Scratchy, dry, toothy... But after some time aligning the tines and smoothing it with Micromesh, now the nib is a real pleasure. Smooth, no skips, excellent flow and it always starts as it should. Filling System (4/5)The filling system is aerometric. As with many chinese pens the sac protector is not glued and can be removed if needed. However I was able to fill the pen properly without detaching it. Cost and Value (4/5)I’ve paid USD 8.99 for the pen and another USD 13 for shipping with tracking number. While more expensive than other chinese P51 clones, I’ve found the Leong Feng better quality, so I’m very happy with this purchase. Conclusion (21/30)Obviously it’s not a Parker 51. But the Leong Feng 693 is by far the best “51” clone I’ve tried. A great pen for daily use. http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/icardoth/Leong%20Feng/PB300001_LeongFeng_zps07773173.jpg http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/icardoth/Leong%20Feng/PB300021_LeongFeng_zps1e34e22d.jpg http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/icardoth/Leong%20Feng/PB300010_LeongFeng_zpsfdb3f81b.jpg http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/icardoth/Leong%20Feng/PB300011_LeongFeng_zps4749bae0.jpg http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/icardoth/Leong%20Feng/PB300003_LeongFeng_zps4c41a5ec.jpg http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/icardoth/Leong%20Feng/PB300002_LeongFeng_zpseaa8918a.jpg
