    My First Parker 51 Vacumatic

Hey all this is my first venture into the vintage pen marker and wow is it a beauty. Writes very smooth with Noodlers Black Loaded. Just a quick question for all the Parker vets. Seeing as how i got this one off of Ebay how can i know whether or not i need to do a diaphragm replacement? The pump works and i havent had any issues with skipping or leaks yet but I did just get it today. Thanks for any info you can provide. http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/ag147/inferno2086/12925805-9954-48e3-a92f-5e7a2f478c39_zpsc85f8a44.jpg http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/ag147/inferno2086/Flickr_2013_06_06_10_52_54_zpsa0460630.jpg

    Parker 51 Accountants Nib

Hi all, I really like fine nibs, so I'd love to have an extra-fine nib on my 51. Are "accountants" nibs extra fine? Does anyone either have one going spare that they'd sell / exchange for a medium-to-broad, or know where I could find one? Best wishes Robin

    Parker 51 In Kolkata (Calcutta)

I am looking for some Parker 51's from a long time but unfortunately two of them purchased by me from eBay got lost in customs. I am now hunting them in India. I will be visiting Kolkata in the coming week. Does anybody knows if I can find (Where??) Parker 51 and other pens (probably in NOS) there.
  4. Hello denizens of Parker-world! I recently developed an acute form of Parker fever and went on a bidding spree on the E-nabler-bay. Rather than blow all my money on a single new (Pilot) pen, I decided to try my hand at buying vintage and fixing up pens myself. No pics yet but here are the 5 pens slowly winging their way to my door: Parker 45 Flighter, Parker 51 x 2, Parker 21 Super x 2, and Parker 21 Non-Super. I'll have to be careful with the 21's since I already cracked the section of my Parker 45, which I only received this month! I plan to carry the 45 and 51's around as part of my fountain pen EDC. The 21's will stay on my desk to minimize cracking. I'll be sure to post pictures when I get them! (I credit Penkino1 and his Parker 51 videos for starting my Parker fever)
  5. I have a 1948 all original (as far as I can tell, except for the section hood because of horrible cracks and missing pieces.) Parker "51" in india black. got it for free at a garage sale about 5 years ago because my name was Parker, replaced the nib hood that had horrible cracks and missing pieces with a new one and just recently got the vacuumatic assembly out. I did not like what I saw. I was planning on doing the repair myself, as I have done pretty basic restorations (sac replacements, nib alignment, nib grinding/bending)on some Sheaffers in the past, but when I opened it up all I saw was hardened ink and sac and horribleness (see pictures in link). So my question is: should I send it in to someone or fix it myself, if i fix it myself what do i use to get the gunk out of the barrel and what should I use to grip the feed to pull it out? Images http://imgur.com/a/jvE3p (sorry for the imgur link not sure if people like that site, but it is easy to use and the files were to big to attach)
  6. Hope I've put this in the right place - there's a Parker in the mix but as there's other makes too I've put this in the 'other' topic. I've had four old fountain pens for years, I think they all used to belong to my father. They haven't been used for a long time though I do remember using a couple of them as a kid. First up is a grey 'Ero' which takes standard small ink cartridges. Not in very good condition - the plastic is cracked on the barrell and also the cap and some slight rust at the top of the clip. Also has 'Ero' embossed on the barrel too. Second is the black one marked 'AA' which has a plunger (which still moves albeit a bit stiffly) and plastic ink reservoir. Sadly the nib on this appears to be bent, otherwise in good condition. I can't see any markings on the pen otherwise. Thirdly is the rather colourful but sadly poor condition Osmiroid 65. Love the multicoloured 'marble' finish on this but unfortunately the end has been chewed a bit and I think my dad tried to scratch his name into the side! Cap unscrews to reveal an italic nib though it's two 'vanes' appear misaligned annd it seems quite scratchy. Nib says 'Osmiroid, Italic, Medium Oblique, then England. The cap unscrews but just pushes onto the top of the pen. It has a clip for drawing ink into the pen. Can't see if it has a sac or not, I presume so and that it's well and truely perished! Lastly is a pen I've seen a few people talk about - a Parker 51. This seems to be in better condition - unfortunately the sac inside has a small hole in it so probably perished. Nib looks intact though. Think the cap is gold plated - as well as 'Parker' it also says '1/10 12ct. R. Gold' which I presume means 12 Carat Rolled Gold. Edit: Just found in very faint writing on the body of the pen it says 'Parker, Made in England - 6'. There may have been a mark/character after the 6 but could also just be a small scratch. I'd love to get some of these working, especially the Parker 51. All of the pens have old, dried ink over the nibs - what's the best way of flushing this out, running warm water through the pens? Also, can I get a replacement sac for the Parker? I can't seem to get the mechanism out of the pen, does it come out or not - don't want to use too much force and damage anything! Also can't see how the Osmiroid comes apart - does that come apart as I'm presuming it'll need a replacement ink sac. Also can the nib be bent back into position without risking damage to it? I've uploaded some pictures, hope they're not too big and have attached OK
  7. Hi guys, I'm in the midst of repairing a Parker 51 that I got sometime ago, and instead of sending it to a pro to have it restored, I decided to try to do it myself, hoping to learn a little about it in the process. I've managed to disassemble the thing, and I'm now awaiting some shellac from Cathedral Pens. In the meantime, I've gotten myself a new aero sac (yes, it's an aerometric filler) and a stainless steel breather tube from Paul of Rutland Pens. Now, the question: How can I reinsert the new breather tube in the feed? I can only get it in around, say, 2 millimeters Paul has suggested that perhaps some parts of the old breather tube is still stuck inside, but I find that hard to believe, seeing the new and old breather tube are of the same length and the old breather tube can go down a lot deeper into the feed. The old breather tube hasn't exactly break, but I though I should change it, seeing it has quite some surface corrosion, and upon checking the side which goes into the feed, I found a tiny longitudinal crack. I've tried using a paper clip to "feel" around the insides of the feed, and I felt something like a latitudinal "notch", around a millimeter in length, which is situated around the same distance from the opening as the new feed can enter, and I thought that this was perhaps the reason why the breather tube can't enter the feed as deep as the new one. Advice, please? Anyone? Thomas
